He didn't protect her well enough

Dario carried Larisa all the way to camp and went to his own tent, he sent his aide to go and get the doctor while he gently placed Larisa on his bed. He placed a pillow behind her back as he positioned her in a sitting position, and placed another pillow under her leg.

The doctor came in soon after, "Greetings your hi----"

"No need for that, quickly check on her," Dario cut off the doctor.

The doctor put down his medicine bag and started to examine Larisa's leg.

"Highness, I will have to set the foot back in place before continuing treatment, it may hurt a lot so please hold on," The doctor informed Larisa who nodded in response.

Dario sat beside her, took her hand in his and patted it comfortingly, "It will be over soon alright?"

The doctor gently took hold of Larisa's foot as she gripped Dario's hand tightly. He quickly twisted it back and an audible crack could be heard in the room, sweat formed on Larisa's forehead but she didn't make so much as a sound when the foot was being relocated.

The doctor was astounded, even a man would cry out at his bones being relocated not to mention the Princess was still a child, how can she have such a high pain tolerance. He however kept all these questions to himself and went on to clean her wound and bandage it.

Not to mention the doctor, even Dario was distressed, this was the very first time that Larisa was hurt so badly, when she was a child it was just some minor scratches but she was so seriously hurt this time but he only knew she felt pain by how tightly she was holding his hand and the sweat on her forehead. He didn't protect her well enough.

Larisa fell asleep while the doctor was bandaging her leg, or maybe, did she pass out? The doctor excused himself after finishing his work. Dario tucked her in after the sheets were changed by a maid. Then he went out of the tent after putting out a third of the candles.

"Have you detained them?" Dario asked his personal bodyguard.

Brennon bowed in greeting before answering, "Yes your highness, the Wormwood sisters are in their tent which is being guarded, I interrogated them about what happened but they all say they don't know,"

"Has someone gone to retrieve the horses then?"

"Yes your highness, we will examine the horse after it's brought back,"

"Has father come back?" He asked worriedly.

"His Majesty is still in the forest hunting with the officials,"

Dario sighed, "Alright, I will visit the Wormwood sisters, you stay here and come call me when the Princess wakes up."

"Yes your highness,"

Dario left with another guard to lead him to the Wormwood tent.

Julia whispered angrily, "the plan was to prick Selah's horse, why did you prick the princess's horse instead."

Sapphire nervously twiddled her fingers as she whispered back, "It was an accident, I didn't notice that that bitch had moved her horse away."

Julia huffed exasperatedly as she rested her elbows on the armrest. They got the princess into such a dangerous situation, they were definitely done for this time, Julia rested her aching head on the hand she placed on the armrest. Ah, the anxiety was killing her.

A small scoff came from the opposite chair, and both Julia and Sapphire looked angrily at Selah.

"What are you laughing at, if we are going down then you are going down with us," Julia said in a matter of fact way.

Selah smiled at her, "That doesn't sound half bad you know,"

"Why you little bitch," Sapphire got up from her chair and wanted to go slap the smile off Selah but Julia held her back.

"This is not the time to be arguing with her."

A sudden commotion came from the front of the tent, Julia got up wanting to go and check it out but a guard moved to broke her path, she looked at the menecing look on his face that showed he wasn't one to negotiate, she silently went back and sat down.

Outside the tent, Marchioness Wormwood was busy trying to get through the guards outside and see her daughters. "Who are you to stop me from seeing my daughters,"

The Marquis pulled her back and shushed her.

"Don't shush me," She said as she tried to get her arm out of his grip.

"Shut up, those are the crown prince's personal guards,"

"So what, don't we also have guards, whats so special about them, they should show me some respect," she said arrogantly.

"Stupid woman, most of the Crown prince's guards are the sons of the officials, any one of those guards has a higher status than you."

The Marchioness was finally silenced, she wanted to see her daughters but offending higher ranked families was not the way to save them.

Dario arrived at this moment, the guards greeted him, catching the pair's attention. They started walking in his direction in hopes of catching his attention and ask about their daughters but he had already got in and they were again stopped by the guards from entering.

"Greetings your highness," Julia, Sapphire and Selah stood up and said at the same time.

Dario went and sat down on the Marquis's chair and observed the girls in-front of him.

"What happened to make the Princess's horse to go crazy," Asked Dario in a domineering manner as he stared them down.

Sapphire shivered in fright and none of them answered or even raised their heads.

"It would be in your best interest if you confessed immediately and maybe you can keeps your lives, but if I find out by myself that you had something to do with it," he stopped midway to let the threat sink in.

"Highness, we really don't know what happened," Julia tried to make her voice as pitiful as possible so it may come off as more believable.

"I'm listening," Was Dario's short reply.

"We..we….we were just riding beside the princess when her horse suddenly went crazy," Sapphire explained while she shivered.

Dario was about to speak when Brennon suddenly entered the tent announced, Dario knew he was very well mannered and if he was in this much of a hurry then it must be important, he had a guess as to what he came to report but he still waited for Brennon to say it himself.
