18 - New Year, Left Behind & New Housemates

Theo Pov:

We had just arrived at the station, on the way here because we didn't have enough room for all of the Weasley family, Harry and myself.

I had to transform into my animagus form and sit on Ginny's lap the hole journey here. And it was unbearable.

It's not like I hate Ginny or anything but for the whole journey she kept patting my head and scratching me behind my ears....

It did not hurt or anything it was just embarrassing to no end and I totally did not purr... yes I didn't!!!

So to my great relief we had finally arrived, I could finally move around... or so I thought. You see I had forgotten that I was with the Weasley family and... well they are kind of all ways late to getting to the train each year....

It's not like we left late or anything but Ron, Percy and the twins kept forgetting things and we had to keep going back.

We all hurriedly grabbed our luggage and packed them on to trollies to push to the train.

Arthur: "10:58... Come on, come on!" Arthur leading us to the platform in a hurry yelled in a attempt to speed us up.

Molly: " Train will be leaving any moment!" yelled from next to me causing Ron to panic even more.

Arthur: "Fred, George and Percy you first!" The three of them ran through the magic gate way.

Next Ginny closely followed by Arthur and Molly went through in a hurry to find her a seat on the train.

Harry and Ron started to speed up to pass through followed by me, as I was speeding up I had a bad feeling in my stomach and stopped only to see Harry and Ron hit the brick pillar instead of going through it.

I have to say it looked really painful especially for Harry as he had his trolley fall on top of himself.

The conductor heard the loud bang of Ron and Harry's trollies hitting the pillar and came over to check on us.

The Conductor yelled at us to see if we were ok, Harry replied that he lost control of the trolley.

We turned to each and quickly came to the conclusion that we were blocked out from getting to the train.

While we were talking the train had already left, leaving us stuck and left behind. Before we could figure out a solution to this very large problem.

People around us started to look over because of Hedwig's continuous screeching, so we hurriedly left the station back to the car.

Suddenly Ron got an idea..... a not very good one at that.

Ron: "I know why don't we take the car and fly to Hogwarts, that way we won't...." before he could finish I hit him on the head with a book.

Theo: "Ron that is a stupid idea, one Muggles will see us.

Two you'll get your father will be in trouble because of that.

Three you don't know how to drive and there are much better ways for us to get to Hogwarts with out breaking any laws." I shook my head at him. Ron seemingly realised how stupid the idea was and quickly ask what we should do.

I smiled and walked over to road and waved at a car, it came over as I turned to them and said.

Theo: "Easy we just have to take a taxi to the leaky cauldron, from their we can contact the school to be brought to Hogwarts by a teacher"

I grabbed my trunk and put my stuff into the taxi, while I was Harry and Ron realised how easy this problem could be solved.

As Harry and Ron were packing their stuff I went and got into the taxi, the driver was a middle aged man. He was a very energized and happy man.

After we all got in I gave the closest address to the leaky cauldron because well almost every muggle does not know about the location.

I would have called the knight bus (yes it is knight not night, idk why but ask Google) but because we are in public and I don't know if they come here we had to take the long way.

And yes we could have taken the flying car, but one big but none of us can lawfully drive and the one who has some knowledge... well let's just say I don't think he has ever driven on the roads before.

While we were on our way to the leaky cauldron Pigwidgeon was flying all the way to Hogwarts to deliver a letter about our current problem.

Pigwidgeon is the small little owl I got Ron for Christmas last year, the little guy just full of energy, ready to get the job done.

We could have sent Hedwig but Harry said we should send Ron's owl instead, Hedwig wasn't very happy with this and made it known by screeching at Harry.

We soon arrived at the address, I paid the kind driver and wished him a happy day. Both Harry and Ron did not have any money, it is time like this that you always have to carry money with you, even muggle money.

While we were unpacking from the taxi Ron's owl Pigwidgeon came back with a letter from Professor McGonagall.

It was the reply to the letter about our current predicament, she would come to pick us up at the leaky cauldron at 1:30Pm to then take us to Hogwarts.

I looked at on time on a large grandfather clock by the entrance and the current time was 1:12Am so we had almost 20 minutes before Professor McGonagall came to pick us up.

After we move our stuff next to a table we ordered some butter-beer for us to drink to pass the time.

Harry: "During this holiday I had gotten none of any the letters sent to me, then a house elf shows up in my bedroom" Harry looked over to me

Harry: "Oh uh, sorry Theo I didn't mean anything by that..." he said with a apologetic face.

Theo: "Don't worry continue." I just shrugged it off, it's not like he said it with anything against me or anything

Harry: "So yeah, umm. Well, where was I... ah so we can't get through the barrier to platform 9 and 3/4. clearly, someone doesn't want me at Hogwarts this year." Harry continued his train of thought.

Ron: "Do you have any idea of who would want you not to be at Hogwarts this year or why?" I was thinking the same train of thought as Ron.

Harry: "Well the house... you know... Dobby was his name kept saying that it wasn't safe at Hogwarts this year and I will be in danger or something..." Harry looked down at his drink in thought as he tried to remember anything else.

Theo: "Do you remember anything else or have any idea why Dobby would say it's dangerous? After all any bit of information can be the key to figuring out what it might be."

I asked in deep thought, after all this is clearly big and could lead to a big problem or danger for us.

As we were talk Mia jumped out of my cloak onto the table, she tried to be sneaky as she slowly made her way to my butter-beer.

I didn't bother to tell her off or anything and just let her play. Mia sniffed my drink before sticking her small head in to the mug and drinking some of it.

I didn't mind and continued the conversation with Harry and Ron, we talked about what it could be that Dobby was trying to protect Harry from.

We later moved on to different topics, for some reason manly about quidditch. Till Ron started to talk about girls, and I honestly have absolutely no clue how Ron will ever get himself a girl with his manners.

Before we knew it 1:30 had come around and out from the large fire place Professor McGonagall walked out, she soon spotted us and walked over.

I saw her a went to finish my butter-beer but... when I pick it up it was empty... completely empty. I looked over to Harry to find Mia trying to steal his butter-beer under his nose.

I quickly picked her up before grabbing my trunk and stuff to follow Professor McGonagall.

McGonagall: "Now why is it there always has to be a problem which has you all ways the center or apart of happen. At least you made to correct decision in informing me of this, there will be a investigation into why the ward did not let you through later for now...

I will be taking you to Hogwarts from here come on, I don't have that much time so please do hurry. We will be taking the floo network to my office. you will have to say Hogwarts when you go through, hurry now."

Professor McGonagall hurried us into the fireplace to get to Hogwarts, after I went through I found myself in McGonagall's office.

Harry and Ron were already there waiting for myself and the Professor, who soon appeared behind me.

McGonagall: "Now I have a lot to prepare for the ceremony tonight so I will be very busy, so you may go to your common rooms before the ceremony tonight. Now then off you go."

McGonagall gestured for us to leave, she did have a large amount of work to do after all. I left for the Galad common room to have a quick recap on what this year will be about.

We split up, with Harry and Ron going to the kitchen to get some food and then to explore the school without anyone else around, it is the best time for them to explore the castle after all.

After I arrived at my room I grabbed my books and made my way to the house library. After double checking the basics that are needed this year, I decided to check if there was any unique books or magic.

I found some interesting books about different spells, magic and history. There are quite a few that I'll read in my spare time for example this book is about a unique cleansing spell called Holy cleanse.

When I pick up the spell book my grimoire reacted to it, so I knew that this was on my to-do list.

As I was going through a book shelf I found a really, really old journal, but that wasn't what caught my eye.

The old journal title wasn't in English, simple Elven or Elven but in high ancient Elven runes or soul runes for short. It is said to be most powerful but lost language of the Elven gods or so my memory says.

The most unique thing about the language is that it can not be taught or deciphered by just anyone because to learn or read it there are only two ways.

One you are born with the ability to read and use it in magic circles, rituals, enchanting and speech. The second is to comprehend the language through your soul, however for someone to learn it the person has to have a powerful soul and intelligence.

Otherwise you will not be able to distinguish the runes as they will look blurry and unrecognizable because to read it you use your soul so without your soul having the ability to read it, you will not be able to see it correctly.

High ancient Elven runes are written in with soul power so to find a book written in soul runes is almost impossible to exist.

High ancient Elven runes can not be used like other magic, to use it in spells you have to construct magic circles using your magic and soul so both in your mind and out of your body at the same time.

Although it might sound easy to do this especially with occulumency but that is not the case as using this magic requires soul power or soul energy. After all with great power comes great responsibility and above most high requirements to use.

I could not read soul runes as unfortunately, but fortunately I did have the ability to learn it with time and if properly learned then using it for enchanting and as a whole will be easier.

Those who mange to comprehend soul runes compared to being born with the ability will have a greater flexibility during use soul rune's magic and language.

So I wasn't without my own advantage learning step by step. As hard as might be and yes it might take me years to learn the language just to speak and write it, not to mention use it in magic circles.

I brought the journal back to my room and lay down on my bed, Mia jumped up onto my head and curled up. Tanwen like always was sleeping on his pile of treasure upside down with his tongue hanging out.

Starlight was somewhere flying around the castle or something.

I spent the rest of my free time trying to comprehend soul runes, I didn't make much progress, well no progress if I'm honest but it's a start.

I put the book on the desk before making my way to the great hall for the ceremony. There I found Harry and Ron waiting for me, I sat on the other side of the table to Ron, Harry sitting next to Ron.

Soon teachers started to arrive at the great hall. I quickly noticed Ms. Vena or now it would be Professor Vardo. (Going to use Vena for my own convenience in writing ;)

I walk over to the entrance of the hall to greet her, Vena saw me walking over and smiled while giving me a polite curtsy in response I gave a small bow.

Vena: *"Greetings youngling Vuin"* (Vuin = youngling) She said her greeting in Elven, She was wearing a traditional elven white long dress and she was carrying a white staff with a bright blue gem on the head of her staff.

Theo: "Hello, I hope you are settling in here at Hogwarts. If there is anything you need help with or anything thing you need to know I will do my best to help." I smiled at her and offered my help

Vena: "Thank you, I have to say Hogwarts is a magical wonderful place. I'll have to get little Alex and you to show me around." As we were talking most of the teachers arrived at the great hall.

Before Ms. Vena or myself could react to it, one person I thought I would have the greatest pleasure to never think of let alone see again, appeared before us.

Yes one Gilderoy Lockhart, I froze as Hogwarts was the last place I would think the fame chaser would be at. Just as I was about to ask why he was here, Lockhart spoke first.

Lockhart: "Hello gorgeous, (He took Vena's hand and kissed it, he smiled up at her from his half bowed stance) Let me introduce my..... self, Gilderoy Lockhart.

Order of Merlin, third class... Honorary member of dark force defense league and best smile of witch weekly's most.. (Strikes a pose with his hand under his chin) charming-smile award and the current defense against the dark arts teacher.

But let's not talk about me, let's talk about you beautiful." He stood straight full of confidence like he was the center of attention for some stupid reason.

Vena smiled politely in response before replying.

Vena: "It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Lockhart, I am Vena Varbo and I teach the course Elven Study."

Lockhart: "Elven Study huh, I can be called a small master of the subject, if I remember correctly back in the time help out a village full of Elves...." As He was talking I decided it would be best to escape.

Meanwhile back at the Gryffindor table Ron and Harry began to talk about Snape.

Ron: "I don't see the dark bat anywhere, Do you think he's been fired! Ah that would be the best wouldn't it" Ron said excitedly However before Harry could reply a slow emotionless voice came from behind him.

?????: "I do have to say Mr. Weasley, you are looking even more dimwitted than ever. and Mr Potter, both dunderheads in one spot just my luck. Mr. Weasley 10 points from Gryffindor and a weeks detention" The voice belonged to Snape who was standing right behind Harry and Ron.

I walked back over and rejoined Them as Snape was walking away.

Theo: "What happened why was Snape just here?" I asked with confusion

Ron: "I don't want to talk about it....." the was a silent pause before he change the topic. " Is that Gilderoy Lockhart over there talking to... (Ron squinted his eyes) Alexander's mother Ms. Vardo?"

Harry also looked over and his eyes grew wide with shock and disbelief. Harry also didn't like Lockhart and now he is a teacher the worst case scenario.

But hopefully he actually knows what his doing as last year we didn't have a good teacher....

Well Quirrell did have a dark lord parasite attached to the back of his head, so he did drop some useful knowledge here and there but he did try to kill Harry, so hopefully Lockhart can teach at least something.

I looked back over to Vena and Lockhart to see the corner of Vena's mouth to be twitching as she ended the conversation with Lockhart and trying to walk away to the teachers table only for him to follow and sit next to her and start a one way conversation from the looks of it.

Soon second years and up began to enter the great hall, soon Alexander and the twins joined us. Before long Hermione came speed walking over to us sitting down next to me and Alex.

Hermione: "Where were you three Alex and I couldn't find you anywhere on the train?" Hermione ask with a grumpy tone.

Alex: "Year where did you three go? Hermione was worried that you there didn't make the train." Alex without much emotion asked.

Harry: "We couldn't get on the train, so we had to..." Harry began to retell our day to them.

Hermione: "So you couldn't get through to the train, you keep seeing a Yumbo (House Elf) who is trying stop you from coming here because it is 'Dangerous'. So the three of you mail the school and get pick up from Professor McGonagall and so got here early."

Hermione said after thinking about what Harry had said.

Hermione: "Well at least you all are safe and at Hogwarts.

After all it would be lonely without you (She whispered to herself while looking at Theo). Now that we are all back together let's start going over our goals this year."

To Harry and Ron's great relief before Hermione could continue the new students with Professor McGonagall entered the great hall.

They were brought up to the front where the sorting hat was placed, the hat did a little song before Professor McGonagall started to call up new students to be sorted.

"byjeed - HUFFLEPUFF!" Clapping

"WesternGod - GRYFFINDOR!!" cheers

"Olmelu - RAVENCLAW!!!" happy clapping

"Marduk8 - GRYFFINDOR!!" Loud cheering

"Bolton0724 - SLYTHERIN!!" clapping

"Creatureman - HUFFLEPUFF!!" Cheering

"Druidpriest - HUFFLEPUFF!!" loud clapping

"MrMike - RAVENCLAW!!" Excitedly clapping

Soon Ginny was called up, she looked really nervous as she walk over to the Sorting Hat, she soon put the hat on only for it to call..

-"GRYFFINDOR!!" The Gryffindor table cheered while the Twins and Ron cheered loudly. Ginny ran over to the table and sat next to the Twins.

Soon there was only two new students to be sorted, Professor McGonagall called up the second last to be sorted.

"Amaadon Sylvia"

There was whispers as the girl walked up to the sorting hat as there was only one here others like her at the school.

I was thinking when Alexander elbowed me, I looked at him and he gestured with his chin to the girl being sorted.

I looked over to see a beautiful blonde girl walking to the front but the big difference between her and the others was her uniform.

Her uniform was a female version of mine and Alex's, it was a full green combat dress with a small half cloak and gold and silver markings.

But thing that shocked me the most was her ears, yes she is a Elf and a beautiful one at that. She had Green eyes with golden blonde hair.

She soon put the sorting hat on and the hat yelled...

"Galad!!" the Twins clapped and yelled "There's another one!" She made her way over to Alexander and myself after Professor McGonagall pointed at us and talked to her.

After she made her way over to us, Alexander and I stood up and greeted her in Elven.

Alex: *"Greetings Miss Amaadon, I am Alexander Vardo but you can call me Alex. This is Theoden Mírë, I hope we can get along with each other."* Alex said with manners before sitting back down.

Theo: *"It's a pleasure to meet you, Please you can call me Theo if you like. Us three are the only members of the Galad so let's look out for each."* I smiled at her

Sylvia: *"Thank you, I hope we can get along together and please call me Sylvia. I hope you can show me around and help me settle in here."* She smiled then sat down next to Hermione on my left.

After she sat down the last new student was call up, she funny enough was also an Elf.

"Amakir Calen" She was wearing the same outfit as Sylvia, She had Green Hair with light blue eyes.

"Galad" She also joined us and created us shyly then quickly sat next to Sylvia, they both seemed to know each other and by the way they talked to each other they were great friends.

Headmaster Dumbledore stood up and started his opening speech for the year.

Dumbledore: "Welcome, Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts... I will be quick because I know some of you are ready to eat but I have a few announcements to make.

First I am pleased to welcome Mr. Gilderoy Lockhart our new defense against the dark arts teacher." The hall burst into clapping and cheers there also was quite a few sighs and awwws from the girls in the hall at the mention of Lockhart.

Lockhart stood up and bowed while smiling and waving at the students.

Dumbledore: "Second I have the greatest pleasure to introduce our first ever Elven Study teacher here at Hogwarts Professor Vena Varbo. (The hall broke into clapping and whispers) Professor Vardo will also be head of the Galad house. Now I hope you can give a warm welcome to our two new Professors. Now the forbidden forest is out of bounds..."

Headmaster Dumbledore continued with different announcements before the feast appeared on the table. After eating some steak and salad, the food was replaced with dessert.

I immediately grabbed a smoothie and began to drink it through the straw, as I was drinking I began to here chatter about Lockhart and well the more I heard the less hope I had in him.

After the feast at the great hall we all separated back to our own common rooms. Alexander and I showed our two new house mates how to enter and around the common room before going to prepare for the next day of class.

Because I had I arrived earlier I had already unpacked my things so I had free time before lights out not that anyone would enforce it. So I continued to study Soul Runes till I got tired.
