The only things I own are my characters and that is it. If you are a fan of DC Comics, you'll know what is from that world and what is not.

Prologue

A long, long time ago, magic was once something that everyone believed in, whether it was light or dark, good or bad, people believed in it either way. To some people, magic was a source of life, a gift from the heavens. Something that they could use to help better the world, improve it as they continue to prosper. It was like a light to them.

But were light goes, darkness cannot help but follow. Yes, there is also a dark side to magic, a side where most people go, as they see it as an easy way to a great and powerful life. Dark magic was something that would consume the world, break it. It was like a plague that consumed everything and with cruel and horrible people as it's hosts.

But the light will always prevail. As the darkness in the world was beginning to grow, people began hoping and praying that the gods bring something or someone to rescue them, to save them. And as if their prayers were answered immediately, light flowed down from the heavens; a powerful magical aura could be sensed from it.

The celestial being that had appeared from the heavens was said to have worn a gold helmet over his face to hide his identity, a blue leather suit, gold boots, gold gloves and a golden belt. He also wore a golden cape that was connected to a golden amulet. The man called himself Nabu or Doctor Fate. He was here to protect the other from threats and to protect the earth itself from any destruction. During Nabu's time on the planet, he had protected the innocent from those with evil intentions, mostly those who practiced dark magic and won every battle he has ever had. As long as Nabu had a host who was strong and worthy enough to wear the helmet so that he could continue living to protect the earth, everything would be fine.

That is why the Society of Fate was created. It served for many purposes, but its primary goal was to train strong and worthy men and women that could one day become the next Doctor Fate and serve as a protector for their world. These Acolytes who start at the age of six, go under harsh training and have to study the laws of magic and what is forbidden. Then when they turn twenty, they are put under a test, a small tournament that tests their magical and fighting abilities. Once the final battle is over, and the winner is decided, that doesn't exactly mean that they are worthy. Their ultimate test would determine if they were surely worthy for the helmet. This tradition has gone on for a long time, and it has seemingly enough, be very useful. That is until it was time for another Doctor Fate to be chosen.

A group of youths were brought into the Society of Fate as Acolytes, and they went through the harsh training that the Society of Fate. Among the group, two of them stood out among the rest. Each both showing promise in their ways. One who's name was Klaus, being strong in his knowledge for the magic arts and the other Erik, showing his strength in well his power and magic. They were both trying to improve their strengths in the things they were terrible at and were always seemingly butting heads together, yet you'd catch them laughing together and eating together at times. They were classmates, rivals really, going for the same goal and that was to become Doctor Fate.

Though at the end of the day, it all came down the worthiest. Once all the tests were over, and it came down to the final two, which were indeed the two rivals. The battle was long and hard, neither one of them ready to give up any time soon. But finally, a winner was announced, and Erik, the victor.

This angered Klaus. He believed that the only one fit to wear the Helmet of Fate was himself and attempted to get it himself! Despite his efforts, Klaus was stopped by the leaders of the Society of Fate and was banished from the Society of Fate for good.

But this didn't stop Klaus, no it only fueled his anger even more. After he was banished, Klaus planned to find a way to gain so much power that could rival even the great Doctor Fate. Once obtaining this power, he would be the strongest Sorcerer there was, and no one, no one, would stand in his way.

Studying all he could on the history of magic, Klaus had already known of a unique relic that could rival against Doctor Fate. Still, it was known to be forbidden, especially to the Society of Fate. The Apollyon Amulet; A source of evil, cause of destruction and death whenever used, it sent fear through people whoever witnessed the aftermath of its power. It was said that the amulet contained so much dark power and that it fed off of its wielder's hatred.

Seeing the threat the Apollyon Amulet was to the world, with the help of the Society of Fate, Doctor Fate was able to seal it inside the cave of a mountain. Creating a small and narrow path to it, brutal for anyone who tried to obtain such power.

But with Klaus' determination, strength and skills, he was able to get past the hardships and make it to the cave where the Apollyon Crystal was sealed. After breaking the seal, Klaus finally had obtained the power of the amulet and was determined to use it to get back what stolen from him.

And so the battles between Klaus and Doctor Fate (Erik), began. Klaus grew stronger with every fight, and soon he even started recruiting other sorcerers to join him in the conquest against Fate. Their battles raged on for years with neither side showing any signs of surrendering. In the end, though, Doctor Fate prevailed and found the strength to defeat Klaus and his followers by sealing them away into the mountain where they'd live out the rest of their days and rot.

When the battle was seemingly over, the only thing that seemed to remain was Doctor Fate's helmet. From then on, no one had forgotten the noble sacrifice Erik had made as a Guardian of Earth. His time as the Doctor Fate would be remembered forever. With the Apollyon Crystal sealed away again, the Society of Fate believed that peace and balance were restored to the world yet again. Or so they thought...
