Chapter 34-Sword
Sword Devil materialized atop a towering tree, seamlessly blending into the natural surroundings.
He effortlessly bypassed the formation set up by the Shadow House, his movements unhindered.
His gaze fixated on the young master he faithfully served, Dwight.
Even amidst the chaos unfolding, Sword Devil couldn't fathom Dwight's intentions as he calmly rested within the massive tree.
A deep sense of reverence and respect washed over Sword Devil as he recollected how Dwight had transformed his life.
In the past, when Sword Devil was a mere guard, he encountered Dwight while strolling through the city.
Dwight's adorable appearance and playful demeanor captured the hearts of those around him.
He had spotted the Sword Devil stationed at the gate without budging, Dwight approached him, initiating a conversation.
"Hey mister, what's your name?"
Dwight posed his first question, to which Sword Devil respectfully replied.
Nervousness gripped him, sensing the presence of the powerful maids in Dwight's back.
They conversed about various topics until a suspicious individual materialized behind Dwight, poised to assassinate him.
Caught off guard, the maids were shocked, but Sword Devil, standing close to Dwight, instinctively shielded him from the assailant's attack.
The strike pierced Sword Devil's body, causing him to collapse in front of Dwight.
The events unfolded in a blur, as the assassins, failing to eliminate their target, sought to escape.
However, the guards swiftly arrived, dispatching the assailants, and extracting valuable information from them.
Remarkably, Dwight remained calm even though his life was in danger a while ago and he wore a smile as he addressed Sword Devil.
"Hey uncle, why don't you come with me and become my bodyguard?"
Dwight offered, leaving Sword Devil stunned. He felt undeserving and attempted to decline the proposition.
"I would love to, but my luck isn't favorable, Young Master," he managed to express before consciousness eluded him.
His body is gravely injured even though he wanted to serve this young kid in front of him.
Unbeknownst to him, a radiant light enveloped his body, altering his fate forever.
Upon awakening, Sword Devil found himself inside Dwight's residence, having been healed by the clan's finest healers.
He was appointed as Dwight's guard, a request personally made by Dwight to his father.
Though Dwight's father couldn't comprehend the reasons behind such an unusual request, he agreed to honor his son's wishes.
From that moment forward, Sword Devil served Dwight with unwavering loyalty.
During one of their journeys, while escorting Dwight, they stumbled upon a black sword.
Sword Devil sensed an overwhelming malevolence and darkness emanating from it, but Dwight, unfazed, found it cool and urged Sword Devil to claim it for himself.
Driven by Dwight's command, Sword Devil reluctantly accepted the sword, only to have a flood of information inundate his mind.
He discovered that the sword was of demonic origin, with an unknown history of consuming its previous wielders.
Astonishingly, when Sword Devil took hold of it, he felt no adverse effects, as if the sword itself was behaving strangely.
Ever since acquiring the sword, his mind was inundated with powerful techniques, and his strength soared to unparalleled heights.
The subsequent events solidified his fame and renowned strength, yet Sword Devil couldn't shake the feeling that all of his accomplishments were intrinsically tied to Dwight.
He couldn't comprehend the reason behind it, but a strong conviction took hold of him, suggesting that his destiny had been irrevocably altered by Dwight's presence.
Moreover, he firmly believed that the sword would have remained untamed if not for Dwight.
Acknowledging his limitations, Sword Devil couldn't fathom why the sword had chosen him because there was no remarkable thing from him.
From that point onward, even though Dwight often appeared useless and lazy in front of others, the Sword Devil held him in the highest regard, convinced that Dwight was merely concealing his true power.
He diligently kept a watchful eye on Dwight from a distance, hesitant to draw too close, aware that Dwight valued his privacy.
The fear of potentially angering Dwight prevented him from approaching too closely.
He acknowledged only Dwight's authority and would never heed anyone else's commands, not even those of the Clan Leader.
"Hey uncle, why are you here? Didn't I tell you to leave me alone?"
Dwight, who had been sleeping moments before, directed his gaze towards a specific direction.
Sword Devil was taken aback, a shiver running down his spine as he witnessed Dwight's penetrating gaze, even while concealing his aura.
He had never anticipated that Dwight would detect his presence, strengthening his previous suspicions
'Young master is truly the young master!'
With no desire to make him wait any longer, Sword Devil shed his concealment and approached Dwight, bowing before him.
"Young Master, it's been a while," he said, his gaze fixed upon Dwight's handsome face, noting the natural expression that adorned it
"Long time no see, Uncle Levi. I thought I instructed you to live your own life and return to your birthplace,"
Dwight recalled that after becoming close to Sword Devil, he had granted him the freedom to wander the world or return to his family.
He told to appear only when the clan faced dire situations requiring his assistance.
Dwight's gaze fell upon Levi, observing the substantial aura of luck surrounding him, realizing it was due to his influence.
When Dwight's memories were sealed at the tender age of five, he unconsciously altered Levi's destiny, unbeknownst to himself.
The black sword at Levi's waist felt familiar to Dwight.
Recalling that the sword had belonged to the previous Sword God whom he had defeated to claim the title, Dwight considered it useless.
Since the previous owner's demise, the sword had been clandestinely trailing him, yet he paid it no mind, considering it far inferior to his blade.
Little did he anticipate that the sword would follow him here, and from its appearance, it seemed to possess a desire to serve him.
Thus, he chose Uncle Levi, recognizing their shared objectives.
The sword trembled in Dwight's presence, and Levi, connected to the sword, was astounded by its profound fear—an emotion it had never before exhibited.
'Why is my sword being afraid of young master?'
He was confused but he didn't dare to ask Dwight.
"Young Master, I recently heard that you enrolled in the academy, so I decided to follow you and protect you from the shadows,"
Levi explained. "I know you don't require my assistance, but my sole purpose in life is to serve and protect you."
He bowed deeply; his resolve was admirable.
Dwight realized he need not hide his powers from Levi, for his loyalty was unwavering.
However, he refrained from employing his abilities to solve the problems hindering his path.
Dwight smiled and spoke, "Very well, since you wish to serve me, I shall assign you a task."
Levi's excitement was palpable, never expecting such forgiveness from the young master.
"Annihilate those accursed assassins who constantly disturb me,"
Dwight declared.
"Leave none alive.
Levi smirked, bowing once again before vanishing from sight. "Wait for my success, Young Master," he uttered, his words lingering in the air.
After Levi had departed from the scene, Dwight gazed in a specific direction and smiled.
Plucking a leaf from a tree branch, he tossed it towards the spot where he had been looking for moments ago.
............
Cris, desperately fleeing for his life, suddenly felt his powers weakening as the surroundings grew darker.
The colossal serpent, measuring 10 meters in length, continued its relentless pursuit, fixated on devouring him.
"Why is my luck so terrible?"
Cris muttered, sensing that if he didn't find a solution soon, he would meet his demise within the next 30 minutes.
Attempting to devise a plan, he realized that his mind seemed to be consumed by thoughts of delicious foods he had enjoyed earlier.
"Shit," he cursed, realizing that his thinking was futile.
As he pondered his predicament, Cris sensed the serpent lunging towards him, prompting him to dodge.
However, his attempt caused him to lose his balance and tumble to the ground.
Boom!
Cris lay on the ground, his gaze fixed upon the towering serpent overshadowing him, its thick scales and razor-sharp teeth capable of decimating a castle.
Overwhelmed with fear, Cris muttered, "Is this the end for me? It's a pity I won't have the chance to be as cool as Dwight. I haven't even tasted all the delicious foods the world has to offer."
In a state of despair, Cris decided to give it one last shot, unleashing his full power, even at the risk of losing his sanity.
He refused to meet his demise without putting up a fight.
Just as he was about to unleash his golden axe, he heard a swift movement, unable to discern the object hurtling towards the serpent's head.
It pierced through the creature's skull and continued its trajectory, relentlessly advancing.
Boom!
Cris managed to dodge as the serpent collapsed in front of him, narrowly avoiding being crushed.
"Cough, cough," he cleared his throat, staring at the motionless serpent before him, its eyes filled with surprise at its sudden demise.
Overwhelmed with shock, Cris couldn't believe that the mighty serpent had perished right before his eyes.
He breathed a sigh of relief, expressing gratitude to the mysterious individual who had come to his aid.
"I thank senior's help."
He bowed but he didn't see anyone, and he felt that the senior who helped him had already left.
Although he remained unaware of the person's identity, he felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude towards them.
Meanwhile, the leaf that had effortlessly vanquished the serpent soared towards a particular location, where a trio of individuals guarded a floating orb-like object, the core of their formation.
They stood watch, vigilant and focused, until they suddenly heard a powerful gust of wind.
"What is that sound?"
Within seconds, an object struck the formation's core, causing a catastrophic explosion in its vicinity.
Boom!
