"Okay, then I'll be with you every step of the way. I'll never leave your side. We can do this together." His voice is soft and gentle. You wish he could just hold you. If you could just lean into him and feel his embrace. You want his strong arms around you. You want him, all of him. You turn around and your lips are a breath away.

"I promise, every step" His breath is soft on your lips. You just need an inch, you want an inch. Suddenly you jump away from each other, realizing what's happening. You make your way to the hospital doors. You come to a standstill.

"Can I...Do you...Would you mind?" He holds his hand close to yours and look at your hand, waiting for permission. "Please."
