The Fall of Rennaya

Zenu knew his people didn't have much longer.

He assumed the throne at 22, when his father, the previous king was killed right in front of him, by the third prince of Ceria, Royron, eight years ago.

Since then he had put the planets resources to work, gathering all the top scientists on Rennaya, as well as the blood of one billion of his people.

Synthesizing, distilling and experimenting all to create the perfect serum.

His fathers idea and legacy.

A serum to recreate the legendary Rennayan.

Mentioned only in fables and books that have been passed down, over many generations by his people.

It was all for today.

He ran through the hallways of the Hallantium.

Making his way towards an escape ship parked at the back of the palace.

There, bursting out the door.

He found his wife and child hugging each other near the spaceship, Aratris.

As he looked around below.

He saw hundred's of missiles simultaneously falling on the planet.

Space battle ships flooded the sky engaging with the Rennayan Royal Airforce.

Mutated monsters, dropping out of the sky.

It was hell.

Grabbing them tight he formed a flame barrier around the spaceship and his family.

While his wife layered the interior with sheets of ice, creating a fortified dome.

They both looked down at their son.

"You know we love you Osei... and we wish we could stay with you and watch you grow..."

Safiyah's voiced cracked.

She couldn't continue.

Zenu took over.

"However life is not always so fortunate and you must remember that-"

Explosions and tremors cut him off, yet he remained calm.

"This is not the life I wished for you my son, but you must remember your mission. Earth is a safe place... your great-grandfather, he kept it hidden with the Arflauge. Find a Human mother as identical to your own mother and give her this."

He handed him the flask.

Sure enough, it should be impossible or morally incorrect for a 7 year old to have to undertake this task.

However Zenu had no other choice.

This mission had been top secret and kept under wraps tightly with all loose threads or trails burned.

Especially since their planet had been under surveillance for the last 10 years with nothing they could do about it.

The Arflauge had been camouflaging the Solar System from all advanced scanners and compasses in the universe for the last 66 years.

Osei had been blessed with the lightning element and had excelled in his training with the first attendant and his teacher Waio.

For the last three and a half years.

There was no more time, he had to be ready.

"Your sibling, will need you to raise them and be strong... The fate of the galaxy now rests with you."

Osei was sobbing uncontrollably.

He was a smart kid and knew what was happening.

He would never see his parents again.

He would never see his home again.

They hugged him tight once more and unanimously smiled at him.

"We love you Osei... We always have and we always will."

His mom called the helper robot over.

It trodded over and gently held his hand, escorting him onto the ship as he cried.

The spaceship sealed shut and prepared to launch.

Out of the blue, due to an explosion above, the barrier that royal couple created burned down and shattered apart.

There in the sky, less than a kilometre above them, was the Cerian Emperor, Atlas.

Floating, as he chuckled to himself.

On his hip, was a long thin sword that was all black with a gold strip down the middle.

He was dressed in a black metallic bodysuit with gold stripes on his arms.

Two slits ran vertically under his eyes and down his face disappearing at his neck.

"Atlas!"

Zenu exclaimed.

Shocked that the Emperor would come see him, himself.

He looked back at the Hallantium.

It was destroyed.

The right half was completely leveled as the middle collapsed towards the left.

A symbol of peace, hope and unity drowning in its own debris.

The King unable to keep his cool any longer exploded in rage.

Ascending to a level he didn't think he would reach in his lifetime.

Orange pulsing veins, raced all over his body.

Streaks of silver glowed in his black hair.

Electricity sparked through the air as energy built up.

Rennayans and other species blessed by their planets, are capable of accessing more power.

To be able to use their ability on a larger scale or more proficiently, by years of training, talent or facing an emotional circumstance.

Zenu had long ago ascended to the first level.

However hearing his people die, scream and watching the place he grew up in destroyed, shattered his lifeline limit.

Shaving a great amount of years off of his life.

He recalled the speech he gave his people, as the first war bells rung across the planet.

How naive he was, thinking he had truly prepared his people for an invasion from Ceria.

"Crimson Scythe."

He said as he swung his sword down, from above his head towards Atlas.

A giant wall of flames seemingly sparked out of the tip of his sword and arced in the direction he swung.

Atlas welcomed the challenge and blocked it with his bare hands unscathed.

Zenu leaped forward, not hesitating.

Boosting flames from his heels and appearing in front of Atlas.

He swung down diagonally aiming for Atlas's neck.

His blade covered in blue flames.

Atlas dodged to the left, in almost a blur and delivered a punch right into his gut.

Sending Zenu crashing straight back down to the ground.

The impact sent massive tremors throughout the city.

Using his sword for support, Zenu got up.

Blood dripped down the side of his head.

I can't lose, he thought.

If only he could defeat Atlas here, his son and soon to be child would be safe.

Atlas dropped to the ground softly, unsheathing his sword.

Then walked towards him.

For a moment, Zenu looked around him.

It was carnage.

Bodies littered the streets.

Strikes of lightning, giant golems, frozen sheets of ice, and explosions of fire, crashed though the city.

As the citizens fought back in a futile fight against the onslaught of the Cerian invasion.

There was no doubt about it.

Senae the royal capital, has fallen.
