Rain

Yu continued his daydreams on one of the terraces, above the attic, to the southeast of the facility building. Since the weather wasn't hot at all this afternoon, Yu felt that spending his last hours on Earth lazing on the terrace was the right thing to do instead of having to go out and then be dragged into certain problems like two days ago.

The man also had time to think about visiting Alina at her house, or at the hospital where the doctor's fiancee died. At least, to express his condolences for James' death.

However, Yu was forced to give up his wish because he didn't know for sure where Alina lived, or he didn't even know the address of the hospital where James had been treated before he died.

Therefore, Yu chose to lie on the terrace while observing the slightly dim sky. Now and then, long and heavy breathing could be heard from his mouth.

Well, that must be pretty sad, he thought. Losing someone when they were only a few days away from getting married, and then one of them had to go far away, leaving this messy world for good.

Yu took a deep breath. However, even though Alina might have some resentment towards her fiancé, the loss is still a loss. Alina must have kept her love for James, otherwise, she would not have been willing to be the fiancée of the late James instead of being his wife. Although, Alina had told Yu that she hated her life, with the engagement, with James' smug nature like other nobles.

Regardless, Yu still sympathizes with what happened to Alina and her fiancé. He feels saddened by what is happening now in all corners of the Earth.

And hopefully, the scientists find the exact reason behind the mass death from heart attacks. Of course, whenever possible, create an antidote to the cause of death itself, as soon as possible.

Yu had a bad feeling about the incident.

A gentle breeze blew, pampering Yu's body so much that his eyes began to feel heavy. Gradually, Yu closed his eyes, and the nap on the terrace seemed quite comfortable to him.

Yu awoke a few hours later when the fine drizzle of the rain hit his face. He was a little gasped when he realized that the sky looked so dark, thick cloudy clouds filled every gap in the sky. And before the water droplets from the sky turned into heavy rain, Yu rushed out of the terrace.

Sure enough. Once Yu was inside the building, the rain fell heavily which was occasionally punctuated by thunderous thunder and a howling wind that was more like a razor-sharp blade.

And the man again continued his daydream in his room. He stood frozen in front of the bedroom window, looking up at the sky, which seemed to be getting darker even though it was only two o'clock in the afternoon. The rain was so heavy that it made the temperature colder. Fortunately, Yu's room is equipped with an air conditioner that can automatically switch functions, from blowing cold air to heating the room.

The last perfect day, Yu said in his heart.

No, that wasn't a metaphor for his seemingly hopeless state. The rain is a gift. At least he had read about this in one of the old books in the underground room when he was still on Sumatra.

Isn't water the source of life? A good sign?

After all, it hasn't rained in a long time.

It is also possible that this rain is falling so hard to cry over what is happening on Earth.

Yeah, it must be, he thought.

This condition made Yu even lazier. If he wants to swim in the indoor pool, it will feel like you're soaking in ice water. Wanting to contact Alina just to convey his condolences, Yu didn't even have a communication device for that, instead of knowing the contact number of the beautiful doctor.

Yu also felt hungry with the temperature dropping drastically, even though there was already automatic heating in the room. Unfortunately, he was too lazy to go to the kitchen. Yu seemed to have lost his zest for life for the umpteenth time.

So he just lay on his bed, his arms folded up and becoming a prop for his head. His eyes were open, but his gaze was so empty, fixed on the ceiling.

"No, Alina," said Yu, holding both of Alina's hands. "I'm not happy about James' passing. I—I grieve for you, Alina. Please, believe me. Don't listen to what other people say!"

"Enough, Yu!" said Alina with tears running down her cheeks. "You have no heart! No morals…!"

"Alina, listen to me," Yu was still trying to explain the misunderstanding to the doctor. "For God's sake, Alina, I didn't—"

"Don't bring up God's name in front of me!"

"But I really didn't say what you accused me of," said Yu. "That chef must have said bad things about me. That's not true at all, Alina. Please, you have to believe me!"

"You're really petty!" Alina screamed as she pulled her hand from Yu's grip. "You even blame others for your ugliness!"

"Alina, please listen to me!" Yu held Alina's shoulder.

"Keep your hands off!"

Slap!

Yu was silent with his face turned to the right due to Alina's hard slap. And the girl ran away leaving Yu alone.

"Alina…!" Yu shouted for the girl, but the girl didn't seem to want to stop her steps. "Don't go, Alina! Please…!"

Alina ran farther and farther away.

"Alina…!"

Yu jolted out of his dream in a stretched position on his bed, one arm stretched out. The 30-year-old man was panting with sweat dripping down his face and chest.

"Oh, God…" Yu let out a long sigh as he rubbed his face. "Oh, God…"

He could still remember all the scenes in his dream just now, they all brought a different sadness to his heart. Yu knew he would not be able to have Alina, and there was no way he could have the heart to hurt the girl's feelings, whatever the reason.

Luckily it was all just a dream.

Yu took a deep breath, he glanced at the clock on the wall, five minutes past seven in the evening.

It turned out that he had been asleep for a long time, from two o'clock in the afternoon to seven o'clock at night.

Yu decided to get out of bed, he felt stifling from sweating in his sleep just now, he then grabbed his towel before leaving the room to go to the bathroom.
