The destruction of a race

The assassins killed their targets swiftly and they went to other holes, to find more victims.

The rest were in formation, going fast, slaying every goblin they saw.

Brilda separated from the group, destroying with her sword every wall in her way.

- Deal with the enemies from outside, I'll be sure that every goblin inside gets decapitated, hahahaha!

Where she passed, there were dozens of goblin corpses. Some were decapitated, some were splitted in half, some with their heads smashed to the ground... The scenes were grotesque, with each gallery in that cave a picture worthy of hell could be made.

- What happens, your whole race it's too weak to face a single berserker?

While she was running and killing, she let her guard down, in consequence, a spear brushed her face.

Her cheek was bleeding, Brilda stopped, she nailed her sword to the ground and putted her hand on her cheek. The blood covered one of her fingers, she licked it and closed her eyes.

The goblins looked at Brilda, horrified, behind her, the corpses of their relatives and friends were provoking them an unspeakable fear.

- Okey guys, you impressed me, I suppose that I have to take this seriously, I'm going with everything I have...

Brilda grabbed her sword quickly and she throwed it to the goblin that seem to have landed the spear, nailing it against a wall through his chest, letting him bleed to death.

With her bare hands, she charged against every goblin she found, ripping off their arms and legs, breaking their necks, their backs... she even killed some biting them to death.

- Come more... I want to engrave my teeth and nails on your green flesh.

In a part of the cave closest to the interior, Rhodessy, Dolg's father, takes his son to a safer area.

- It seems that they are attacking us son, we must flee to the interior of the mountain.

But dad, what will happen to the rest?

Young Dolg asked, concerned.

- I do not know son, I will pray for them, but my priority is that you live.

- Shall we go see the dragon to help us?

If the dragon really exists, we will have a chance to survive...

- Don't run little ones, let's talk for a moment...

Brilda's voice was heard closer and closer to the two goblins.

- Son, we have to knock down this wall so that they stop following us. Help me.

With a stick and with the help of her son, Rhodessy managed to knock down a good piece of wall to cover the route they were fleeing, but when he was about to completely cover it ...

- Don't run away!

Brilda was already close, very very close.

- Quick son, run away, I will finish covering this!

But Dad, I can't leave you here!

- Listen to me son, survive, find the dragon!

At that moment Rhodessy finished tearing down the wall and managed to completely occlude the entrance to the gallery they were in.

But a hand grabbed Rhodessy from the stones that had just fallen.

From the other side, Brilda had managed to put an arm inside.

- W-what is this! Aaaghh!

Brilda clenched Rhodessy's chest so tightly that she broke three ribs, leaving him badly injured.

After this, Brilda withdrew her arm and began to ram the rocks that blocked the path.

Rhodessy fell to the ground, Dolg approached with tears in his eyes.

- Father!

G-go son, you must survive!

- No dad, no! Let's go together to see the dragon, please!

- There is no time, go into the mountain and look for him, he will protect us.

- Father...

- Aghh... son... you must know one thing...

- Dad, don't leave me alone please!

- According to our shamans, you are destined to be the last goblin king, son.

- King? But I'm still very young dad, besides, you are the king and I...

Rhodessy cut him off, taking off the crown and handing it over to his son.

- You will do well son, it does not matter if you are the first or the last, what counts is that you are a good king. And you will be the best son, I am sure.

- Father!

Dolg couldn't stop crying, he hugged his father very tightly, so much that he hurted him.

- I will not disappoint our race, everything will be arranged!

- Go with the dragon son, I will win as much time as I can.

- I love you dad.

Dolg ran, tearfully, left his father on the ground, badly hurt.

Brilda's blows were heard with more clarity and intensity each time, so Rhodessy picked up a stone from the ground and prepared to die like a warrior.

Finally a hole opened and Brilda entered.

- But what do we have here? A vermin in his last moments... Do you need a little help to meet your god?

- God is already with me, but you... God has no appreciation for you, murderer.

After saying this, Rhodessy threw the stone at Brilda's head. It disintegrated as if the human's head was made of an even harder material.

- You are pathetic... I was right, there was no reason to bring more people, I could win against everyone here...

As she said this, Brilda put her hand on Rhodessy's face and crushed his head like a walnut.

- Die, trash.

A group of soldiers entered, three humans and Shang, the minotaur.

- Shang, come with me, you three, scatter through the depths of the cave, you have to find the kid who has escaped.

- How are you so sure that one has escaped?

Shang asked.

- I've heard them talk... Quick.

They all obeyed Brilda and went through the cave tunnels.

Meanwhile, Dolg ran with her father's crown on his head...

- I must find the dragon to save them!

For an hour the little goblin was running through the tunnel of the cave. He didn't find anything. Everything seemed the same; each gallery, each stalactite, each passageway... The tunnels and caves that he dreamed of exploring, only stored dust and dirt.

At one point, Dolg reached a dead end passage and tried to turn back, but the voices of his pursuers stopped him abruptly.

- It's over... They are going to find me...

Dolg cried as he covered his mouth so that his wails didn't make much noise.

The silhouette of one of the humans appeared very close to the entrance to the passageway in which Dolg appeared. The tension made Dolg pee on himself.

The silhouette disappeared... and then reappeared closer and closer, until the end, the human became aware of Dolg's presence.

- He's here, Commander, the goblin is here!

The human screamed.

He's alone, he can't run away, there's nothing to worry about- aa... aghh...

A huge nail pierced the soldier's chest, killing him almost instantly.

- Y-you are the dragon!

The dragon ignored the goblin and remained hidden in the ceiling of the passage.

- We're done, Brilda, the goblin is here!

The other two humans had reached the passageway.

In the same way as before, the two humans approached Dolg and when they reached him...

- Aaaaaaahh! Aaaaghh!

- Burn!

The dragon burned the two humans with a fire so intense that they turned to ashes.

From the end of the passageway, Dolg stared in amazement at the dragon's power.

- I already have you cornered, damn snot.

Brilda and Shang had arrived. The dragon was uncovered so it could not carry out surprise attacks.

- Well, well, but it is a dragon! I'm going to rip your head off and I'm going to make a new armor.

The dragon went after Brilda without thinking twice, but Brilda had other plans.

Brilda ran under the dragon, heading for Dolg to kill him.

- Come here dwarf! I'm going to give you a chance to reunite with the rest of your race!

Shang leapt towards the dragon's head and thrust his ax between the two eyes, but the scales were so strong that he remained nailed with hardly any damage inflicted on his opponent.

- It is very resistant, be careful Brilda!

The dragon tried to step on Brilda, but it was too fast. It reached Dolg. He grabbed it by the right arm and yanked it off.

- Aaaaaaagh! No, please, I'll do what you want, but don't kill me!

Dolg's wails mattered little to Brilda...

- Now it's the turn of the left arm, little one!

At that moment, the dragon's tail circled Brilda, choking her a little, leaving her motionless.

- Brilda!

Shang was still hanging on the handle of his ax, but it detached from the dragon along with a few scales and went straight down with Shang into the dragon's mouth.

Once Shang had been properly chewed, the dragon turned to Dolg, leaving Brilda motionless between them, being suffocated by his tail.

- Does your death seem funny to you, murderer?

The dragon's voice echoed throughout the cave, the walls shook and some rocks fell from the ceiling.

- Aaaghh, aaaah!

Brilda screamed while recovering her conciousness.

- Don't bother regretting. Enjoy your last breath, you coward.

The dragon tightened its tail until the crunch of Brilda's bones was so loud that it satisfied the dragon's ears and left her on the ground, dead.

- You have saved me, dragon, thank you very much...

Dolg's exhaustion, stress, and injuries made him pass out.

When he woke up, Brilda's corpse was gone and he couldn't see the dragon anywhere. Of course, its large footprints will be clearly seen on the ground. What did remain there was Brilda's armor, silver with beautiful violet undertones.

- It is magical, it adapts to the size of your body. Put it on.

The dragon's voice sounded from another gallery in the cave.

Dolg hesitated a moment, but quickly got up and tried on the bloody armor of the one who could have been his murderer...

The sound of a great roar was accompanied by a glow, the dragon had burned all the tunnels so that no one could enter their position.

Dolg's flesh began to regenerate, even his arm formed again until he fully recovered. Brilda's armor had incredible healing properties.

- This is amazing, I got my arm back!

- It is not the only thing you will recover, Your Majesty.

The dragon blew over Dolg and the goblin fell asleep there.
