Chapter Fifteen: Desperate Hope

Our hero Avery, has put the fire out by making it rain within the castle.

Now, turning his attention to his fallen comrades, he runs and bends over to them. They lie side by side, each apart from several feet.

"O my friends, please awake! Azackton has won, he has kidnapped the princess!" Avery cries and weeps.

Halu stirs slightly, groaning and moaning something to himself.

"Halu, wake up. We have to save Princess Sasha."

The Prince, taking his cape to stop his friend's bleeding, he gently helps to sit him upright.

"Avery? You're still alive?" He asked, still dazed and in pain.

"Yes, yes I am. Can you get up? We have to assist Toru and Boru. They have been motionless still."

Grinding his teeth in pain, Halu boldly attempts to rise up with Avery's assistance.

Giving a cry of pain, and falling back down again, he answered: "It's useless. I cannot stand up. We have to attend to these two, it is paramount that we get help for them."

Looking around, Avery then said: "But what about the citizens living here?"

"Go on and see if there are any injured and come back."

Being now, able to run slowly, Avery jogged ahead a little to look at his surroundings.

Spotting a fairy sitting under a tree with its head bowed low, he ran to check up on her.

"Are you alright?"

"Me? Oh, yes I am fine, just startled. Where is the Princess?"

"Azackton has her. I wasn't strong enough to stop him", he replied sobbing.

"A fateful day, this has been. I am Princess Sasha's right hand maid. I will attend to the locals here, you must go now and take care of your friends."

"You're right", Avery said, getting up and heading back inside the castle.

"Did it fare well?" Asked Halu seeing his return.

"A maid of Sasha's will attend to the issues here. Come, we must go back now to my father's house. There is an Apothecary there who may yet save these men's lives."

"Very well then. There isn't much time."

Summoning a portal, Avery went to call on the help of his father; King Zarash, his son, and Zauhn, carried the men back to Cravon Castle.
