Annalise was not prepared for the awkwardness that soon fell on her and Rafael the moment they stopped talking. There was a good reason why you should not be casually speaking to the person who paid you.
Rafael had made a detour to get a bottle of wine from the kitchen and to Annalise's surprise, he took up two glasses. She wasn't serious about drinking with him and she didn't think he would have taken her seriously since what maid and employer would drink together?
Rafael led Annalise to a door that opened to a balcony. From here, they could look out and see the bonfire the knight and maid still present had made. If you looked on forward, you could see the lights coming from the festival in town.
"I still think that you were sneaking up to the second floor for another reason," Rafael said as he sat down on the balcony wall.
