THE Knight’s Hidden Princess

A princess's duty is to be beautiful, quiet, not loud, to be seen and not to be heard, which was how Dahlia lived most of her life. Instead, she was forced into a marriage of convenience with the bravest knight in all the kingdom, Reagan Hawthorne. Dahlia thought she would use this marriage to escape the brutal crutches of her father and glide out of her cage but Reagan’s cold disdain was an unexpected prison of its own. By day, she was the perfect wife. By night, she became the "Black Knight," a masked vigilante fighting for justice in the shadows. Reagan returned, ready to focus on his personal mission: avenging his father’s death. To him, Dahlia was just another pawn in his plans—a spoiled princess he needed to tolerate. But as cracks began to form in her perfect façade, Reagan couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to his wife than met the eye. Now, with enemies circling closer and their secrets threatening to collide, Dahlia and Reagan must confront the lies they’ve told themselves and each other. But when masks fall and truths are revealed, will their fragile bond withstand the storm—or will it shatter beyond repair? One wound. One secret. One night that changes everything.

Fiery Princess

I had just finished taking a bath from the shower, dressed in nothing but a pink robe and was drying off my hair as I stepped out only to meet Reagan throwing some pillows down on the blanket he laid on the floor. Frowning, I gazed at the blanket he had placed down on the bed and the pillows on it, then I turned to stare at the queen sized bed that was big enough to contain two people, it was even bigger than the one I had back at house Hawthorne.

Dropping the towel, I approached Reagan who spared me no glance even as I stood beside him. Clearing my throat, I decided to speak. "Am I that repulsive?"

Reagan glanced up from where he was crouched down. He spared me a glance briefly before he went back to what he was doing. "Took you six months to ask me that?"

"Well I am asking you now." I answered with a shrug.

"Why do you care?" Reagan asked without looking at me, "And besides, is this really the best place to have that talk?"

Heaving out a sigh, I walked around to go and stand in front of him since he wasn't going to look at me. I stepped onto the blanket he had laid, which got me the reaction I wanted. Reagan glanced up at me, those dark eyes brimming with frustration and maybe defiance, but he rose himself up to his full height, finally giving me the attention I wanted.

Good! Crossing my arms under my chest, I stared up at him. "We are married and I feel like I barely know you. You were gone for six months and ever since you've been back, it's like you don't even try. You won't give our marriage a chance." I said heaving out a breath, forcing the tremor out of my tone before I continued. "You disrespected me by bringing a concubine to our home and now you are talking about making her official when we haven't even consummated this marriage!"

The words echoed in the room, heavy and raw but Reagan didn't even flinch. Instead, he released a long tired sigh before he reached up for the collar of his shirt. I stood there with a stunned expression on my face, watching as he unbuttoned his shirt.

"What are you doing?" I asked, my voice tinged with confusion.

"What else do you think?" Reagan responded his voice cold and detached as he shrugged off his shirt, discarding it somewhere in the room.

My gaze involuntarily dropped down to his exposed torso and my lips slightly parted as I took in his bronze torso which gleamed in the dim light. The light also seemed to stretch over perfectly toned abs and a broad chest that spoke of years of hard training and discipline.

Clearing my throat, I managed to pull my eyes away. "What are you doing?" I asked slightly wincing when my voice came out breathy, "Put your shirt on."

"I don't think that will be necessary with what we want to do now, sweetness."

"What we want to do?" I asked, arching my brow up at him.

Reagan took a step closer towards me, staring at me with an intensity that made the air between us cackle. "You want us to consummate our marriage, yes? So that's exactly what we will do."

My brows flew up at his bluntness. "What?"

"Get on the bed princess." Reagan stated with a look of seriousness on his face which scared me a little.

Was he actually serious? I asked myself as I took a step backwards. "Look Reagan, when I said that I didn't mean like right now." I said slowly trying to get him to understand, "Besides, from what I know there are still a lot of process to do before we can…"

"Don't worry, I know all of the steps," Reagan said, his gaze darkened as he moved closer towards me, the air charged with something that I couldn't quite name. "Now get on the bed princess, I'm not telling you again."

My eyes widened as I stared at the bed in horror. Are we really about to do this? I thought to myself before I stared back at Reagan who stared at me, looking almost bored. "Perhaps this isn't the best way to_"

Before I could get any more word out, Reagan suddenly lifted me up in the air. A startled yelp escaped me as Reagan slammed me down on the bed. I sat up straight still feeling confused when all of a sudden Reagan came up on top of me, caging me in his arms. His gaze fell on my lips where I was had gasped at the sudden position we found ourselves in.

Reagan then reached up and brought his hand to my face, his touch was surprisingly gentle. His hands then moved downwards to hike my gown up and it was then I knew what he was serious about all of this.

I know I had been the one to suggest that we consummate our marriage but when I said that, this wasn't what I had in mind or imagined how my first time was going to be! This was supposed to be a moment filled with connection, trust, love!

Reagan continued to lift my gown up, his fingers grazing my bare thigh and it made my stomach churn. I grabbed Reagan's hand halting his movement, "Stop it!"

A dark brow arched up at my demand, "Thought you wanted this?" He asked staring down at me with a smirk on his face but it was hollow, his gaze cold and void of any emotion "Don't worry it will be over before you know it!"

That sentence—those few, detached words—ignited something fierce and uncontrollable within me. My pulse roared in my ears, and the walls seemed to close in around me. I felt anger bubbling up, swallowing the fear whole.

Using all my strengths, I shoved Reagan off me, "Get off of me!"

Reagan stumbled backwards, scoffing at me as he leaned on his elbows on the bed studying me with an air of indifference that only made me angrier. I quickly stood up from the crossing my arms underneath me as I glared at him, the tears in my eyes causing my vision to be blurry.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?" I hissed at him, "Is this truly how you see me? Is this truly all you want from me? My body?"

Reagan rolled his eyes at me from where I laid on the bed, "Right, my bad princess." He says as he stood up from the bed walking closer towards me, "Then how about you tell me what it is you want?"

I scoffed at him in disbelief, "You really expect me telling you what I want will make a difference after what just happened?" I asked him then snorted out a laughter, "You know what? I do not care anymore, you can do as you wish and I'll do whatever I want, but let me make something clear my lord." I said walking closer towards him, tiling my head backwards to stare into his eyes, "Touch me again and I'll make sure you drown in your blood!"

Reagan stared at me, his gaze carved in cold indifference, though a flicker of amusement danced in his eyes. But I didn't care, just as long as he understood me. Still glaring at him, I moved past him, making sure to hit my shoulders with him. The brief contact was deliberate and a silent retaliation.

I headed straight for the drawers beside the bed. Yanking it open, I found a letter opener inside it. It wasn't my ideal weapon but it will have to do. Satisfied, I grabbed it and turned only to meet Reagan still watching with the same maddening amusement lingering in his gaze.

Ignoring him, I clutched the letter opener tightly in my hand as I laid down on the bed, turning my back to him. The tension in the room was suffocating but I was exhausted from the journey. My eyes fluttered shut and just as sleep began to pull me under, I thought I heard a low deep chuckle behind me.
