Xiu Xi shook his head, "Sell."
"What?" The Ruanlin Family's matriarch didn't hear clearly.
"Sell it, for money," Xiu Xi repeated.
The matriarch of the Ruanlin Family added another handful of firewood, then, patting the ash off her hands, she came over and confirmed once again, "Are you saying that you want to sell these two rabbits?"
Xiu Xi nodded seriously.
Sell them, get money, buy candy!
The matriarch didn't know about Xiu Xi's mental deliberations; she only thought that the child was precocious, had already learned to plan for himself, and even knew how to make money. She patted her hands, took the rabbits from him, felt their weight—about ten pounds. Indeed, the two could be exchanged for some money.
After placing the rabbits in the chicken coop behind the kitchen, she said to him, "Okay, your uncle is going to town tomorrow. I'll have him sell them for you." She paused, then hesitated a bit, "Can you keep the money safe?"
