The Reveal

"Agent Stekwhold. I didn't think anything like this would happen soon, but unfortunately it has. I just want an outside perspective. Please tell me what happened when you began the case," Agent Enrique Hernandez asked.

"Alright, well I was informed of all the previous information before I was handed a file with all the information there. Then..."

Flashback

"There's approximately three hundred miles between the two cities. Why travel to two different places to send letters to Ezra?" Agent Amber asked thoughtfully.

"Maybe it's merely a forensic counter measure. He knows that mailing letters close to home would lead us right to him, so he drives far away to mail the letters to throw us off his scent" Agent Sylvester said with his hands on his hips. We all stood around the table staring at the projection. "The Unibomber did that," Agent Viktor Winchester spoke from beside me.

"He could've gone anywhere else but he's staying in the DC area," Agent Domonic Montgomery pointed out calmly brushing his black and white hair out of his face.

"Well it makes sense to stay close to Ezra. He stuck around New Yorke to see Officer Cruz deteriorate," Agent Emilia Austin said as if it were a fact before spinning in her chair to face Agent White with a slightly red, "I'm not saying you're-"

"It's ok. I know that's not what you meant Emilia," Agent White said making me and Agent Winchester nod and everyone else go quiet with concern painted across their faces.

Flashback over

"Did Agent White seem irritable to you? On edge in any way?" Hernandez asked me skeptically.

I stared blankly at him before responding with a questioning look, "No."

"Continue," he said with a sigh.

Flashback

"OK, so what are we gonna do about the two cities? Usually we need three different points to get an accurate geographic profile," Agent Amber informed.

"And obviously we don't have that," I said sarcastically while sitting on the edge of the table.

"Yes thank you for pointing out the obvious," Agent Austin said with a playful edge, "There are way too many places he could be."

"Where is he?" I asked with curiosity painting my face before Amelia walked in.

"Relax. She's not coming close," Ezra whispered next to me when I tensed, making me turn to him and nod before turning back to her.

"OK. Our least favorite psycho made a error half and hour ago. He was spotted exiting a grocery store," she said opening her laptop and typing into it.

"Can you check the other cameras to see where he went," I asked walking over to my bag, taking another cookie and eating it.

"Can I have another one?" Viktor asked and I put on a glove before handing him one.

"Already did that and he was spotted entering this really old motel," she informed, "I checked all the guests staying there, thank God they check-in guests virtually, but none of them matched his name."

"Well, from the profile you guys gave to me, he's obviously not going to use his own name," I informed while still nibbling on my cookie.

"So what kind of aliases should we be looking for?" Damien asked frustrated.

"He could have easily stolen someone's identity," Emilia Austin said with crossed arms.

"No, he'll use something with meaning to him," Agent White said looking through files.

"He might use something connected to the case, whether it be a victim or a cop," I said with a little shrug. Everyone nodded and Amelia began typing away. I handed another cookie to Winchester who made grabby hands towards the bag. "OK. I'll check the Martinez files against the list of names and... nothing," she said calmly.

"Wait a minute. Guys, Martinez had a child didn't he and a wife," Agent Winchester said using his crutches to help him move. I subtly got up and stayed behind him incase he needed help. Ezra stared at me with a small smile at me movements and I just stuck out my tongue playfully making him roll his eyes. "Check the records and check his wife's and daughter's lives," He said and I caught on.

"He might have used a name only his daughter could figure out. According to your profile, he was killing for someone, what if it was for her?" I asked, finishing his thought.

"His daughter was a genius. She played chess and her school records say that her school librarian would always have a new anagram for her to solve," Amilia said glancing up at me discreetly before going back to typing.

"An anagram? Are we in 1992" Emilia said while Winchester wrote on the board.

"Did she have a book that was checked out constantly?" Sylvester asked curiously.

"Thank god for virtual records," Amelia said typing quickly, "so our Psycho's princess constantly checked out Dracula, Moby Dick and Shadow and Bone."

"So which one would it be?" Emilia asked causing us to all look at each other as if the answer would appear on our foreheads. I thought about it for a second. I shook my head with a scowl, it just didn't make sense. Why a book character? Unless.

"Try Marcus Vaughn," I said shaking my hands at my sides and rocking at the name of the man I've despised for so long. She nodded and typed it in quickly before looking up at me excitedly.

"Found him," I smirked as the team let out relieved sighs.

Flashback over

"You stayed back as the team went to the apartment. Why?" Hernandez asked.

"I wasn't needed," I replied with a shrug.

"Was it that, or were you scared to see your father for the first time in eleven years?" Hernandez asked.

"It wasn't necessary for me to go. I didn't need nor did I want my presence to distract them as they would likely feel as though they had to babysit me. My previous anxiety attack was still fresh on me mind and I didn't want them to be focused on if I'm ok with the amount of people around or if someone was touching me. It was an off day for me" I explained with a calm expression ignoring his jab.

"Alright, and while the team was there, what were you doing?"

Flashback

I sat in the conference room quietly, then I got a call. I picked up my phone without looking at the contact name, which I would later regret, and answered it. "Hello dove," I heard a voice say on the other end and I immediately knew who it was.

"What are you doing Martinez? Innocent people?" I asked bluntly.

"And the people you killed weren't?" he asked and I heard him moving closer to noise.

"You forced me to bait people for you to kill and hurt, but I never killed anyone. I have never and will never kill someone. I changed. Unlike you it seems," I spat not allowing him to detect the discomfort in my words at this topic.

"Come on dove, don't be like that. We can be a duo again. Don't you want to know who's with me right now?" he replied.

"It better not be who I think it is or I swear-" I began but he cut me off to continue his dramatic antics.

"Of course you do," he whispered menacingly, "Go on darling, talk to her."

"Hello," a female spoke through the phone. I quickly pulled out my computer and pulled up the file on Ezra that I may or may not have stolen. "H-hello? Is anyone there?" she asked.

"Angela?" I spoke trying to sound confident, even though I was a bit nervous about the situation.

"Yes, this is she. A-are you Martie's boss?" Angela's voice rang in my ears.

"Yes ma'am," I said trying to keep her calm, "Ma'am, Martie has taken you somewhere safe alright, and I need you to relax."

"Is it true?" she asked, her voice cracking, "Is Ezra really dead?"

"I'm afraid so ma'am, I need you to hand the phone back to Martie ma'am," I said trying not to let fear slip into my voice. He told this poor woman that her ex-husband was dead. "O-of course," she said before sobbing and handing the phone to my father.

"Listen Martinez. You are going to let them go and you are going to do the one thing I will ever ask of you and turn yourself in or I will do it for you," I said, my Spanish accent thickly wrapping my voice as I tried not to yell at him in frustration.

"I'll see you in a few ma'am," he said before hanging up the phone.

Flashback over

"So he called you, why didn't you call the team and tell them?" Hernandez asked with cocking an eyebrow.

"I tried but they weren't answering their phones," I said in response with an annoyed expression.

"So you left a note with Agent Rampershad and went to see your father?" Hernandez asked.

"Yes."

Flashback

I wrote up a note and slipped it under Amelia's door before rushing outside. I walked to my car and got in before driving away. I turned on the siren and sped through traffic. My phone rang and I picked it up and put it to my ear. "What do you mean you know where Martinez is?!" Amelia yelled into the phone.

"Amelia, this is really not the time to yell at me especially since I'm driving and if you had startled me I could have swerved on the road," I said with a nervous smile, pulling the phone away from my poor ears and putting her on speaker.

"Ok, I'm sorry, but I am not going to disregard the fact that you are driving towards a criminal, in fact," she paused and I know she added Damien because I heard him greet her, "Damien will you please order our newest member to stop what she is doing."

"You're on speaker, what's happening?" Damien asked.

"Xe-na here knows where Martinez is and is currently on a suicide mission towards him. Alone," Amelia said making me groan.

"What?" I heard the team ask simultaneously.

"Look, I get it. I'm the new girl. You guys don't even know me that well, but for some reason you care. You can worry all you want but I have been an agent for years and I can do this. Let me do this. I am doing this. I will deal with the situation . Just keep Agent White away," I say making a sharp turn.

"It's too late for that," I heard his voice say.

"No," I thought with a sigh.

"You know where Angela is?" he asked sounding annoyed.

"Yes, I do but I can't tell you because you would head there," I replied as I made another sharp turn.

"Are we going to ignore the fact that she just sassed him and he said nothing?" Emilia's russian accent was heard in the background after I said that.

"Are you going to tell us how you have that information?" he asked with a defeated tone.

"No," I said with a proud smile knowing he was giving n.

"Are you heading in that direction now?" he asked with a sigh and everyone was quiet.

"Yes. That's the entire reason Amelia called in the first place and don't tell me not to go. If you tell me not to go it'll be a waste of your time because I'm already pulling up to the house and it's too late," I sassed, rolling my eyes. He sighed and stayed quiet for a minute.

"Just, tell my son that I want to meet me at our place?" Ezra said and I nodded.

"OK," I assured as I parked the car.

"And Xe-na," he said.

"Yes Agent White," I replied unbuckling my seat belt.

"Don't die," he said leaving no room for arguments.

"I'll try not to," I say with a small smile hanging up the phone and stepping out of the car. With a sigh, I began walking towards the large white house. I opened the door and walked into the home. "Martinez," I said softly and my father stepped out. I narrowed my eyes at him and he smiled at me. "Shhh," he said putting his finger to his lips.

"But, shit," I heard Angela curse and I walked into the room with her in it. My father sat down playing with Austin, Ezra's son, while Angela looked like she was in distress. "They? They can hear us, right?" he asked sounding as calm as he could sound in this situation.

"Yes. I'm so sorry," Angela apologized. I ignored their conversation and knelt down to Jack. "Hey buddy. Your dad wanted me to tell you that he wanted you to meet him in your special place, ok?" I whispered quietly to him and he nodded before running off. I sighed in relief, knowing that he probably went and hid somewhere. "Ezra. Is that why your marriage broke up? Because you're a liar, or was it because your whore of a wife cheated on you?" My father taunted.

"Angela, don't listen to him. I want you to hand me the phone and go wait in your bedroom," I said taking control of the situation as my father relayed the message out of reflex. "Ezra, I'm here," I whispered to him.

"You told her I was dead?" He asked sounding as though I were insane.

"I didn't want her to panic, plus she would probably be a lot safer if you actually were," I said back, speaking my mind. I kept my eyes on my father as he watched me carefully. "Oh dove, didn't I teach you not to lie to anyone? It doesn't matter the reason," my father said loudly.

"Yes you did," was my immediate reply, "I'm sorry." I was so used to this I just fell back into my old habit."Dove? Xe-na, why-"

"I'm his daughter," I informed, not caring that the team would now know, or at least Amelia would have her information confirmed.

"Did he not know, dove?" My father taunted, obviously knowing the answer.

"No," I said calmly.

"Xe-" Ezra said

"Come on, dove. Tell him. Tell him about all those poor pe-" he baited.

"Be quiet," I spat venomously.

"Xe-na don't react. You know better."

"You think I don't know that," I said, "Just let me take care of i-" A searing pain went through my shoulder and another through my knee, making me drop the phone. "Xe-na!" I heard Ezra exclaim. I snapped and kicked the gun out of his hand. "There we go," Martinez said with a smirk, "There's that beautiful rage I was looking for."

I tackled him to the ground and grabbed his neck before smashing his head against the floor. He punched me in the nose, disorienting me. "Doesn't this remind you of old times?" he taunts, rolling us over and hovering above me.

"What are you talking about?" I asked, my face filled with confusion. Blood gathered in my mouth as he punched me in the face. I spat the blood back in his face and said, "You hit like a bitch."

I rolled us over and grabbed my knife from my shoe and stabbed him in the arm before pulling it out. "Come on dad, just give up. I don't wanna hurt you," I whispered, aware of the fact that Ezra was still on the phone.

"I know, dove," he replied with a look in his eye.

"Please don't make me hurt you. I don't like how it makes me feel when I hurt someone," I said with shaky hands holding the knife over his heart as my vision began to blur. "I'm sorry, dove, I know you didn't want this. Come on. Put down the knife and you can take me to the station," he said slowly.

"Promise Daddy?" I asked with tears in my eyes. He nodded and I moved to put the knife down. I felt like that little girl who believed her father was the most amazing man in the world. "Is it safe to-" Angela was cut off by a gunshot and my eyes widened as I stared down at my father who held a gun in his hand.

He shot her in the stomach and I knew that if there wasn't an ambulance there in some minutes she would die. In my frozen state, he took the gun and pointed it to my head. I felt like I was blacking out and I suddenly did. I felt like I was trapped in my own mind as I drove the knife into one of his lungs and puled it out. He choked on blood as it filled his lungs.

I was in some sort of daze as I began driving the knife into his chest over and over. I sat there, on his chest, for a good ten minutes just stabbing until someone took the knife out of my blood covered hand. "It's ok Xe-na he's dead," I heard Hernandez's voice, yet I couldn't bring myself to stop driving the blade of a knife that wasn't in my hand into his corpse. I was supposed to feel the remorse I feel right now. I was supposed to be the remorseful as I killed my father, yet all that I felt nothing. I was numb as I just sat blankly on his chest.

He may not have been the best father but he didn't deserve this no matter how bad it was. He taught me how to fight, he visited me every other night after I was adopted, he always bought me a birthday cake and left it on my window.

He murdered my stepfather, who was raping me, and my mother, who allowed it. He tried to always provide for me even if that meant he couldn't provide for himself. Yet, when it came down to his final moments, he couldn't even have the decency to apologize for leaving me with my mother and stepfather. He couldn't even say a final 'I love you'. Instead he chose to shoot the ex-wife of the one man who wouldn't give him what he wanted and point a gun to my head.

I didn't even realize what was happening until I was in an ambulance being driven to the hospital with my uncle on one side of me and Agent White on the other. I looked at my uncle who looked at me with concern. Why was he here? He was supposed to be working.

Agent White was probably only there to thank me but I was still grateful to have people around me. "Ta-ta?" I asked in a broken voice, pulling down the oxygen mask to properly 'glare' at him and ignoring the actual glare that came from the EMT.

"I'm here Xe'. Now put back on the mask," he ordered me, attempting to put the mask back onto my face.

"You shouldn't be here. You have more important things to do," I scolded stubbornly as the EMT tried to get me to pull back up the mask and have a some common sense.

"You're my only niece. Plus Amanda would kill me if she knew I almost let you die and wasn't there," he replied jokingly before continuing in a stern tone, "Xe-na put back on the damn oxygen mask."

"I don't think-" I whispered before finally blacking out as I felt my life fade away from me and heard my uncle and Ezra yell.
