Chapter 9- The Kingdom of Crux

As far as north could go, there was a kingdom covered in ice. This icy climate brings both benefit and harm for the people.

About a thousand people die yearly due to the freezing temperature and the lack of food supply. That's where our MC is heading today. He was sent by the Pope again to bring the church's food reserves to the people there.

" Hey Maggie. You're a mage right? Please use a fire spell or something. It's freezing here."

" Sorry Kazuki but I'm an Earthen mage. I have no affinity for fire spells."

" How bout you Sakura?"

" I can only use ice spells."

" No thanks. You ok Pegasus?"

Pegasus on the other hand was pulling their wagon. He does not feel the chilling temperature because like the golem, he's resistant to both fire and ice.

" Yes master. No need to worry."

" By the way Pegasus do you know anything about the kingdom of Crux?"

" Yes master it's a kingdom named after the constellation Crux."

(Note: Crux is a constellation located in the southern hemisphere and is the smallest of the 88 constellations. It is also called the southern Cross.)

" Hmmmm. Tell me more."

" Their knights order are feared when it comes to archery. They have many people with keen eyesight and accuracy in their villages."

" And they recruit them?"

" No. They force them."

" Why?"

" The current king is called the idiot king because many of his people suffered. Many people also protest to change their nation's king but..."

" A king's order is absolute."

" Yeah."

" As for the people who protest against him..."

" Knights."

" Yeah. Many were killed."

Kazuki felt pity for the citizens of Crux. If only he could give them a new life and a new home.

As thoughts floated on Kazuki's head, the snow was getting heavier so Maggie built a house using Earth manipulation so they could stay there for the night.

Crux Supreme Mage's Office

" Sir!"

A knight busts out of a door. He was called by Magnus, one of the eight supreme mages known as the "supreme magma".

(Note: The supreme magma is capable of using high tier spells using earth, fire, and dark elements.)

" Send a request to the adventurers guild. Tell them to send a letter to a nearby lake. I heard that Brim's there."

" Y-you mean the typhoon tyrant?"

" Send him a letter saying that I want to meet him next week."

" Yes sir."

As the guard left, Magnus secretly rejoiced.

" At last! With more supreme mages by my side I can take over the continent."

But little did he know that a flower was listening to everything he says.

Outside was another supreme mage Gamel. She was also known as "Mother Nature".

(Note: She was called mother nature because she can control plants, animals, wildlife and also mastered the neutral element.)

She wrote a letter and tied it to a bird's leg.

" Bring this to Griffin."

Then the bird flew with the letter.
