The Prolonged Prologue:

War never changes.

Since the dawn of humanity, bloodshed never stopped. When our ancestors first discovered the killing power of rock and bone, blood has been spilled in the name of everything: from God to justice to simple, psychotic rage.

Empires rise and falls, the glorious monuments had become abandoned ruins, countries develop and demolish and fields of lush greenery becomes swamp of bloody red mud. Everything changes, except war. War never changes.

Over the time war had been evolve. From the fist and stick fight of our ancestors it evolved into throwing missiles, with a click of a bottom, fate of thousands even millions have been decided. Yet we, the so called civilized literate people did nothing but observe. We watched massacre on TV, discussed over coffee table and then peacefully continued with our daily lives until the shit came to our own backyard.

At the end of World War II most of the people thought "Okay, this is the last", after all in front of the threat of Nuclear Bomb who's going to risk total eradication. But we forgot, the humans are growing in number but there is not enough space or resources to go around. By the beginning of year 2036, the world population reached to 10 Billion, with this much people; fight over resources came to a new height, fights and skirmishes started in the name of god, colour, race and anything which can be imagined. In the end none of this really mattered, the shit happened.

World War 1 lasted 4 years, 2 lasted even longer. For 6 years people decided to continue kill each other in the name of.... well details really doesn't matter here. Surprisingly 3rd was over in a day. On February At the world peace summit of year 2036, all countries started bickering over nuclear arsenal control, yet nobody was able to come at a conclusion, tension rose over the next couple of months and then on a glorious New Year Eve of 31st December 2036, around 8 PM of night the sky lit up like Christmas tree, who, why, how didn't really mattered, because everything ended even before the clock turned past 11:59 Pm.

Around 5000 cities and urban areas were directly hit by nuclear bombs, in an instant 4 billion people died. But that wasn't the end; rather it was just the beginning. Apart from the 4 billion Lucky fellows, who died instantly, another 5 followed there footstep within the year.

First came the meteors, the bombs had manage to throw a lot of large rocks to the sky and now they came down. It was like a global show of fireworks, those meteorites had mercilessly ploughed through lands, destroying buildings (whatever left of them) and mountains alike. And then came the radiation.

The January of 2037 saw a rise of cancer like never before. Thankfully(or not) these people didn't have to suffer much as by the end of 1st January the shoot of all these blasts, covered the sky like a warm cosy blanket. Within a month the global temperature dropped 15 degrees all over the world and plants animal human alike get killed in cold. What survived the cold, get killed in starvation.

As if the environment wasn't enough harmful already, the atrocities of men started to surface now. It turned out; under the facade of global peace and equality many countries were busy to develop means of upgrade the war. The Lands of USA and Canada suddenly got flooded with new type of viruses, apparently humanity had decided that even the nuclear bomb wasn't enough destructive for them, so they went ahead to develop biological weapons. Many countries had started research on guided virus and bacteria and what not. Only these researches came to bite back humanity.

Even researches which were meant for peaceful or educational purpose turned on humanity. The region of Europe and Northern Asia got affected by a mysterious energy. Apparently the temperature, shockwave and radiation of the bombs had managed to screw up some Mystery of World related research and created this energy.

The origin didn't mattered much; because initially these factors start eradicating life faster than a wake of vultures finish a carrion. Thankfully (or not), the environment soon became too rough for even these factors to handle and gradually they got suppressed.

Once the shoot particles fell down and the sky became clear again, the whole world had become a giant necropolis. Most of the human, animal and plants were either burned in the blast, killed by meteorite or withered away in the winter. It seemed that Earth had finally going to join her other brother and sisters in the league of lifeless planets.

The high temperature from the blasts had damaged the Ozone layer and the UV Ray of sun came down directly giving the planet a tan of hell. The life which managed to adopt the cold deep freezer now faced a fiery hot oven.

However life was more resilient than we gave it credit for. For the next 50 years, nature recreated the life and she actually used the by-products of multiple atrocities of humanity. The radiation, the UV ray, the newly evolved microbes and even the mysterious energy which was once busy to cull life from Earth, slowly lost their power and start effecting the life for it's growth. Animals and plants became mutated in this environment. Mother Nature gradually fixed the Ozone layer and the constant rain cleansed a large part of the Earth from Radiation. The flora and fauna that survived the disaster, gradually adapted to the new environment and evolved.

Humans weren't left to die either. The evolution and adaptation factors also worked on humans. While their number dropped from 10 billion to a couple of hundred millions, they survived. The great Himalayan mountain range sheltered a large part of Asia. The dense forests in Amazon and Africa protected some of the human lives there, sadly those regions soon became a paradise of beasts and the people living there had to struggle constantly for staying alive. While most people of Canada, most of the Europe and America didn't survive, those who survived, get enhanced by Nature. The mutation covered the whole world and gave humans a helping hand, that and many other factor let humanity stay alive, while they lose their number, the species survived.

And it turned out that humans had learned absolutely nothing from these disasters. By the end of 2150, they again get divided into multiple factions, again started fighting against each other and again became the number one scoundrel of Mother Earth. Thankfully, nature had also strengthened other species; otherwise humanity would probably have destroyed everything (Again) by 2200.

Divided in multiple factions, based on multiple factors, humanity continued to live in the Earth. Multiple govt. had started to rule over them; in face these governments were completely against war and completely devoted to peace, while in back... Well we all know how they were in their back.

Behind these peaceful fronts, there were always troubles. Right now what was once known as New York, currently had became a lesser economy zone regarded as zone D, and some mischief was taking place right there.

That's enough history lessons for one chapter. Let us concentrate on our story or rather Alex's story. Who she was, where she came from, what is her relation and what will be her future, does these things really matters? Let's just continue her journey, hopefully we won't be to bored.
