Chapter 7

Jake entered his uncles' room for the second night now, sitting in a chair next to him.

"So tonight's the elven words. The first is Wox, which means vines. The second is Terim, which means stop magic. The third one is Slos, which means quake. The last one is Lingex, which means eruption. These are the ones I think will help you most from the elven words," finished Mecks.

Derk walked around the inner city while looking for that beautiful girl that he saw while he was running. He searched for hours until he noticed her walk by.

"Hey!" Yelled out Derk over the other people while pushing through to get to the girl.

"Oh hi," said the girl blushing.

"I had noticed you watching me train. My name's Derk, son of King Erglon," said Derk while smiling at her beauty.

"Do you mean the King of Tryous? I'm so sorry I did not know my King," replied the girl.

She goes to bow but Derk quickly pulls her up.

"Please, don't do that. No need for you too. I am his son but no woman of such beauty must bow to me."

"Thank you, my King," said the girl.

"What is your name?" Asked Derk.

"Catelin, I live around here but my parents died years ago so I'm just on my own. I am a servant at the castle though."

"I'm really sorry," said Derk.

"It's ok, no need to apologize you did nothing wrong," replied Catelin.

"Alright. Well, tomorrow come down to the courtyard and watch us train again?"

"I would love to," said Catelin.

They stood there for a moment before hugging and departing.

That next morning made it their third day.

"You three know the routine," said Mecks obviously upset about something.

Derk grabbed a sword, Kelric with his daggers at the wooden pole, and Jake working out. Before Derk could even get ready he was being attacked, down thrust after down thrust he tried to block. Jake and Kelric stared at their uncle. Derk waited until his uncles' sword crashed against his, once it happened Derk pulled out his sword and whipped it out, and cut his uncle's leg. Mecks roared in pain, and when he looked from his leg Derk noticed that his uncle Tanel had taken over.

"Uh oh, this isn't going to end well," said Derk.

He watched his uncle run and strike down on Derks sword, this time twice as powerful. Mecks stopped after a few more swings and instead just ripped Derks sword right out of his hands. He stopped for a second before smashing the hilt of his sword onto Derks head. As he went to hit him the fourth time, Derks Tanel had taken over as well.

Derk grabs his uncles' hands and puts them to his side before lifting him and throwing him across the courtyard. Mecks eventually stands up and walks towards Derk, his eyes now back to normal.

"Ow!" Yelled Derk before feeling his head.

"Good slice kid wasn't expecting it," said Mecks while limping over to Jake.

"Ecks," said Jake as heals Derks head.

"Wasn't expecting you to bash my head in either," said Derk as Jake finishes healing.

Mecks slide a pant leg up so Jake can get to his wounds.

"Ecks," said Jake once again.

"Sorry about that, excuse yourself from training today," said Mecks motioning for him to leave.

"Nah, I think you're going to tell us why you were mad," replied Derk.

As he stands Derk notices Catelin standing there looking sad.

"Never mind, you're telling Jake and Kelric," said Derk as he walks away.

"I will tell you in my room after training. Continue what you were doing and I'll walk around for a little," said Mecks as he stands up.

The boys turn and go back to what they were doing and Mecks walks into the castle.

Derk confronts Catelin further down the road.

"What's wrong?" Asked Derk.

Catelin turns toward him, tears in her eyes.

"Nothing, I just couldn't stand to watch you get hurt," answered Catelin.

"What are you saying?"

"There's something about you that makes me want to be with you, it's like I've known you for so long but I've only known you for a day."

They stare at each other for a moment until she leans up and kisses Derk right on the lips.

Smiling at each other, she grabs his hand and leads him to a small house on the left side of Letslon.

When the door closed behind them Derk pushed her up against a wall. They kissed over and over, his hand sliding to her butt. He pulled her up and she wrapped her legs around him. As they kissed Derk pushed through doors looking for the bedroom. First was the storage room, the second was the dining room, and third was finally the bedroom.

She laughed at him adorably.

"What's funny?" Asked Derk as he stops kissing her.

"Just took you long enough to find my room," answered Catelin as she smiles.

They laughed and kiss again, Derk taking off his shirt and Catelin taking off her light green cloak.

Pausing, they look at each other until they finally lock hands as their tense night begins.

Finally, training ended, which meant the boys had to go to their uncles' room. After washing themselves they went there, he was waiting for them on his bed.

"Sit down and I will explain what has happened on this day," said Mecks.

They sat down before Mecks began.

"I received a letter from your father; it said he cannot hold the lines much longer."

"How much longer?" Asked Kelric.

"A year, maybe less. After that our remaining people and soldiers will hold our lines back at the Vyro," answered Mecks.

"What's the Vyro? What happens after they come here?" Asked Jake.

"The Vyro is the Gate to Tryous. But, by the time that happens we're hoping that the new Kings will come and join us in the fight," answered Mecks.

Kelric squeezes his hand to a fist and stands up.

"We will defend our home, our true home," said Kelric.

Jake nods.

"Good, let's hope these upcoming days come quickly so we can continue to Stralork," said Mecks.

"I have one last question," said Jake.

"Continue."

"Why do they call us the Kings of Tryous or other things in different places?"

"In Gilric, we're called Kings only because the people believe us as unreal and inhuman beings.

In Tryous, we're just like them except we have the more extreme power to us," answered Mecks.

"That makes a lot more sense than what I was thinking," replied Jake.

They laughed for a moment.

"As I said earlier, we'll take a break for the day go and do as you please," said Mecks.

Jake stands and turns towards him.

"Last question I promise. Why do we fall in love so easily and why does the other fall in love with us so easily? I mean it's Derks second day with the girl and I'm going to guess he's not coming home tonight. Kelric was falling in love with an assassin girl, I mean why?" Asked Jake.

"Good question. See, on the Wall of Destinies it tells you who you will love and have kids with in the future and so on so forth. What I'm getting at is that your destiny is tied with that person that you meet as soon as you lay eyes on her. Once that happens your passion and love for one another grows just by talking," answered Mecks.

"Wow, thanks uncle," said Jake before leaving with Kelric.

"Where are you going?" Asked Kelric.

"Bed, too tired to do anything right now," answered Jake.

"Good idea, night brother."

"Goodnight," said Jake before departing to his room.
