Chapter 30: Teamwork

They moved to a training ground that was used before and formed a rectangle. 

The forest hadn't changed much over time, but it was now full of bushes and grass. 

During this period, Guy did not think of testing his students while sparring with him.

Therefore, the area grew fully and acquired new fragrant flowers nearby. 

Tenten often liked to take care of them.

Team Three stopped for an hour and ate lunch after the marathon on the outskirts of Konoha.

They were then ready for the most important part of their training session on the training ground, sparring against each other. 

This month, Rock, Tenten, and Neji fought each other a lot during the sparring match. 

They did this to test their skills and learn from each other. 

It wasn't the same as testing in a life-or-death battle, but experience is experience, and each team member was well aware of that. 

Nevertheless, Neji and Tenten increasingly understood and managed to feel that Lee was becoming stronger and more skilled right before their eyes...

"Neji. Rock. Begin!"

Naturally, the brave and solemn voice of Might Guy sounded in their ears as a signal to start the fight. 

As soon as these words left Guy's lips, the two of them rushed at each other with fierce male combat!

Neji's palms immediately began to be enveloped by chakra released from his Tenketsu. 

The activated Byakugan spoke for itself. 

Thus, Lee's Tenketsu were essentially in obvious danger. 

Neji immediately aimed at the points he needed to prepare to mercilessly strike them with Gentle Fist. 

However...

It was never straightforward for Neji regarding Lee and sparring with him.

The palm charged with chakra, aiming for Rock Lee's shoulder area, but it didn't land. 

Lee skillfully dodged at the last moment to shift his body just a couple of centimeters but he did it so easily that he didn't even lose coordination in the process.

The only huis black hair, grown out over the past month, with a gleaming shine and flutter slightly upwards but nothing more. 

Otherwise, he remained completely calm.

It turned out that the next attempts to inflict damage and paralyze Rock Lee's Tenketsu also ended in failure. 

Rock was able to dodge every attack from him, and it didn't matter how Neji fought or how hard he tried to hit the chakra points.

Neji couldn't help but draw the analogy of a leaf swaying in the wind during those moments.

Lee had essentially achieved perfection in the Kami-e.

"Tenten!" 

Lee called her while still maneuvering to avoid each attack of Neji's Gentle Fist taijutsu as effortlessly as if he were doing something normal.

Hearing Lee's voice, Tenten's eyes brightened, and she was once again mesmerized by the art of the Kami-e dodge. 

Furthermore, she never got tired of seeing Rock's pompous magic in training matches. 

She had a lot of respect for Lee's taijutsu skills knowing that he had an exceptionally magnificent talent for this. 

Nevertheless, he called Tenten not just to show off unnecessarily. 

At those times, she had a specific part to play in their fight with Neji by Might Guy.

Tenten swiftly pulled out from her pouch a set of kunai and shuriken connected by thin but unusually strong threads. 

The essence of her next move was to scatter them towards Rock who was dodging without pause and attack him with her Gentle Fist style as Neji did.

Thus, Team Three were fully engaged in the battle.

Lee and Neji not only had to fight each other but also simultaneously dealt with a barrage of cold weapons. 

These weapons didn't just blindly fly towards them but also ricocheted off each other and changed trajectory due to the threads and cords.

They created an effect aimed at them more deeply where they faced not only kunai and shuriken but also the most dangerous ninjutsu. 

This was to ensure that Team Three was always ready for something equally dangerous or close to it.

"Well done!" 

 Might Guy exclaimed with a bright smile to give his students a thumbs-up while signaling the end of their sparring.

They were tired and sweaty, but Tenten was slightly less tired than the rest of them because her role was to attack from long distances for now.

However, Might Guy had already told her he would work on her taijutsu soon and look for someone in Konoha who could teach her some tricks in Bukijutsu.

Might Guy tried to make each team member strong, but it turned out that the fastest training development among the trio was...

Lee.

"Rock, how's the taijutsu of your clan, the Iron Hair Technique?" 

Guy asked not just out of curiosity as he genuinely wanted to move on to teaching Rock his own fighting style: Gōken, Strong Fist.

Lee had to learn how to use the Iron Fist first. 

Might Guy's taijutsu style is called Goken which means "Strong Fist."

It breaks the enemy's bones and is the exact opposite of the Gentle Fist style because the damage is rough, fierce, and external. 

This style is not suitable for every shinobi because only a physically gifted Shinobi can master it, and Rock was the perfect fit.

Moreover, Might Guy had already decided that Lee would become his full-fledged successor, and he would also teach the Eight Gates.

However, Guy still didn't know when this would happen. Lee was becoming stronger and more skilled in taijutsu. 

After a month of training together, Neji was no longer a threat to Lee and wasn't even a significant rival...

"Well, Guy-sensei, it takes time to master the Iron Hair Technique as expected. It's only been a month, and so far, I've only reached..."

Rock wiped the sweat off himself, sat down on the grass, and let his hair loose, which had grown longer. 

After focusing, he crossed his fingers to direct his chakra at his hair. He immediately made them sharper and fluffier like a hedgehog or a porcupine.

"This."

"Not bad, and just make sure not to sit so calmly on the ground during a fight, or you'll get hit right away, ha-ha-ha!" 

Guy laughed at his own joke but then continued with a more serious expression.

"The Strong Fist. I think it's time for me to teach it to you. What do you think?"

"I agree." 

Rock smiled while getting up from the grass and looking at Tenten approaching him with a comb. 

She was cute, and her smooth face blushed while giving her cheeks a colorful shade, whether from the recent sparring or something else.

"I think our team will soon become famous not only for our abilities but also because everyone has long hair..." 

Tenten remarked with a smirk and immediately started to "work" on Rock's hair with the comb in her hands. 

It wasn't the first time this happened because it had become quite normal since Rock began training the Strong Fist.

"Thank you." 

Lee thanked her genuinely and looked over at Neji who was clenching his fists on the sidelines and thinking hard about how he could get stronger and surpass him.

Neji didn't blame Lee for anything. 

In fact, Rock ended up defeating him. 

Neji had already realized his behavior and thought that there was no point in being overly arrogant towards his teammates. 

They had his back, and he would have theirs in return. There was no lingering resentment between them.

"The head and his daughter, Hinata... I can't forgive you for the mark of slavery and the death of my father... I can't and probably won't forgive you so easily..." 

Neji flooded his thoughts while feeling the heavy burden on his heart that was breaking him and sabotaging him spiritually.

"Why the long face?" 

He felt a gentle nudge on his shoulder and lifted his lowered eyes without pupils when he saw Rock approaching with such a hopeful smile.

Neji instantly became irritated by his behavior and forgot about the heavy burden on his soul.

"It's none of your business." 

Neji didn't let a member of the Hyuga clan approach him while intending to turn away and leave, but Might Guy didn't allow him to do so...

Guy spread his arms wide and hugged his three students to embrace them in a familial manner.

"Ha-ha-ha! This is great! We've only known each other for just over a month, and I already feel like I'm training my own children! Hmm! Maybe it's not too late for me..."

"No, Guy-sensei, it's too late for you."

They enjoyed their free time together.
