He was walking back to his room when he was interrupted by the dark elf he saw earlier, Lexy.
"Jake! I need to talk with you about something."
"Ummm sorry I dont remember your name. What is it?"
"I'm Lexy, and I want to go dungen hunting with you. My unique ability is to see people's stats and classes."
"..."
Jake had no idea what to do, if people knew what his class was there was a good chance the school would kick him out.
"Relax, i'm not going to tell anyone, but you're a level 8 jeweler already; so I want you to make me a please, in return you can pick whatever dungen you want and we can clear it together. All the materials you want are yours, and we can split the rest."
Jake wasn't sure if she was blackmailing him or not, but he needed slime cores so he went with it anyway.
"As long as you promise not to tell anyone, I will do it. But I'm not great at making custom pieces."
"I only see two items on you, and I can see you have more than 40 bonus stats, most of them in magic, so I assume you can make a good magic item. I just need a wind element magic ring."
"Deal, and I need slime cores so let's go there tomorrow. I'm exhausted today, but my number is XXX-XXXX-XXXX. Call me in the morning"
For a wind element ring, he would need a wind gem or wind infused iron, which were both very difficult to find or expensive. A single 1 carat wind gem would cost at least $3,000 and wind infused iron would cost at least half that. Even so, he could figure it out. Jake went to bed in a generally good mood, but that would soon be shattered.
"Jake, Jake, JAKE, WAKE UP."
Wui was standing directly above him.
"So you are alive, we have important things to discuss."
"Wui… Has Shen come back yet."
"That's what we need to talk about..."
He could see the sad look on her face that it was bad news.
"He went to the infernal toxin sect, and got into a fight with another cultivator. He… didn't make it out."
Jake didn't know Shen for very long, and even though he was taught to be used to death it still broke his heart to hear the news.
"Shen was one of my friends for a long time, but I'm happy that someone talented will be taking over his shop."
"Wait. I'm taking over the shop?"
"He doesn't have any kids, and the only will is from a few years ago, which says to give everything to the next highest member of his shop. Right now that's you. So you now have the land, all of the materials currently in the shop, and his black lotus card."
"Black lotus card?"
"Black lotus is the store/auction house that runs between sects. It's also where he buys most of the materials here, outside of the fire stuff he buys from the local mine. I'm sorry to drop all this on you so suddenly, especially after you have been locked in for almost three days."
"THREE DAYS, I just finished a breakthrough and was planning on working afterwards. Has it really been three days?"
"Yah, people without super high talent take a lot of time to recover. I know you're not great at making weapons, so take a few days to reform the shop, craft some new products and start it up again. I would hate to see what he built fall so soon."
When she left Jake was still laying in bed, with a combination of stress and loss. He could use the shop to make a ton of money by being one of the only jewelers, but at the same time he would be taking advantage of a dead man.
Jake thought back to his school days. Death was normal. No need to be sad about it, whether you killed them or they were your friend. It doesn't matter as long as you keep yourself alive. It didn't feel right to him, but it was the way of his world, and apparently this one too. He didn't have time to feel bad, or time to stop. He wouldn't be ahead of his peers once they started getting stronger skills, so stopping wasn't an option until he at least graduated.
He started off by grabbing 10 of the 62 flame iron ingots and letting his inner accessory absorb them. In the cash bin there was a total of 3 gold, and seeing as he wouldn't be getting a salary anymore Jake would need it. He had already sorted all of the mattrals, so all he really needed to do was start working on more products to sell. He still had 13 rings, but he needed at least 2 or 3 more types if he wanted to make it into a full business out of it.
He also got six .5 kariot fire gems and put them in his inventory along with 12 flame infused iron. He used two ingots to create a basic bracelet which looked like a cuff. He didn't want to create anything similar to the blueprint he had, so he decided not to put the sect symbol on it. In the end he ended up flattening the gem and laying it flat across on the bracelet. As for an inscription, he put swirls on all over the back part that faced the wrist and made it look like fire was spewing out of the gem from all sides. He made sure to only use ki when making it, ensuring that it would get a ki using skill.
