Chapter 172 - The Sewing Life Alchemist.

In the library,

Miyuki throws the book on the table, "this is useless."

Tatsuya closed the book he was reading, "no, it's actually not."

Miyuki took a deep breath, hiding her frustration, "Onii-sama understood something?"

"Yes, No, more like, I had an idea."

Tatsuya looked towards a mousy, bespectacled woman, working in the library, "Sheska!"

"Ah! Eh! Yes!" She was startled; books in her hand fell down.

Miyuki held her cheek, "that is so nostalgic." Sheska reminded her so much of someone, who wore spectacles and was as clumsy as her.

Sheska fumbled, picking the books, before coming to their table, "Yes?!"

"Do you have any idea about Shou Tucker's history? Family history?"

Sheska tilted her head, "Shou Tucker, the chimera guy?"

"Yes."

Sheska was lost in deep thought before saying, "I think there were rumors that his wife left him?"

"Around two years ago?"

"Ah, Yes! How did you know?"

Tatsuya observed her, "you remember that?"

Sheska smiled sheepishly, "I remember everything I read. It was in the newspaper about him and his wife. But, then he created the talking chimera, became a state alchemist. So, there was a big talk about his wife leaving at the wrong time. State Alchemists are really rich, you know?!"

Miyuki was a bit amazed, "you have a photographic memory?"

Tatsuya watched her in doubt, "If you have a photographic memory, then why are you working in the library?"

"Because I love books!"

"Of course you do." Tatsuya watched her with a smile, "Thank you, If I need anything else, I'll call you."

After Sheska awkwardly left, Miyuki leaned in, putting her hands on his.

"Onii-sama...are you thinking what I am thinking?"

"Shou Tucker transmuted his wife with an animal, hence creating a talking chimera."

Miyuki nodded again and again, "I was thinking the same thing."

Soon, she frowned, "but how does that help us?"

Tatsuya put his elbows on the table, crossing his fingers, "It barely took us a read to understand what really happened there. Do you think the Military hadn't figured it out?"

Miyuki knit her brows, "Shou Tucker is a front?"

"Probably, their technology is far more advanced than what Shou Tucker could achieve. The chimera Tucker made, the animal's genes were primary, while humans were secondary. The chimera that the Military made was different. Humans' genes were more prominent than animal genes. The precision and energy needed for that kind of work would need something that amplifies alchemy. Theory alone is not enough for something like this."

"Alchemy Amplifier? Did they create something that advanced?"

"We need to ask a state alchemist."

"Call Mustang?"

"Lines could be tapped."

Miyuki counted their other options, "we have to go back to the east?" She didn't want to. They just got the house.

"Yeah...but, let's stay here for a week. I should be able to...So, we should go to east." Tatsuya wanted to glance down towards his shadow but controlled himself.

Miyuki smiled, "Yeah, about time."

She looked towards the door, "what about Denny and Maria?"

"Leave then to take care of the house and stuff?"

Miyuki curled her lips, "they are officers, not security guards."

"That is exactly why they would do a better job of guarding the house."

Miyuki supported her forehead, "I already feel bad for them."

Tatsuya stood up, "Come, we should leave."

"Yes," Miyuki stood up; she glanced at Sheska in the distance. When their eyes met, she waved, mouthing thank you.

Sheska became flustered again, nearly dropping the book.

Once they stepped out, Maria was still there. She drove the car taking them outside the central city.

Tatsuya whispered, "it really is."

Miyuki nodded in understanding, "it is." She also felt the thing stop at the border of the central city.

Maria glanced at the whispering couple without saying anything.

Once she dropped them in front of the house, Tatsuya asked her, "Can you go help, Denny? I need those materials. At least the first batch by tonight."

"Yes, I'll get make to get them delivered, as many as we can find."

After Maria drove off, Miyuki tilted her head, "We forgot about the food?"

"Oh, right. The food in storage is more than enough." They had something to eat in central. But, there was nothing at home.

They bought a lot of the food they liked and kept it in storage since things lasted for a very long time.

Miyuki turned to walk inside as she spoke, "I want to eat something fresh."

"Even if it is stored, it is fresh; not even a second had passed since we bought it."

Miyuki pursed her lips, "Hmm, I know, but it doesn't feel fresh. I want to cook something."

"I am really missing the duplicates right about now." Things would go so much faster if he had the duplicates.

A month later,

"Are you sure the people you met were Chimera's?"

Tatsuya looked at Miyuki after hearing Mustang's question.

Miyuki pondered a bit before answering, "I would have to see a chimera to be completely sure."

Mustang leaned back on the chair of his office, "that can be arranged; in fact, you are right on time. The Elric brothers have just gone to meet Sewing Life Alchemist."

Miyuki knit her brows, "why do they need to see Sewing Life Alchemist?"

She didn't like the guy one bit, transmuting his wife into a chimera. She didn't want Ed or Al in the company of someone so twisted.

"They met someone in Liore, who was able to create a Chimera." Mustang smiled as he spoke.

Tatsuya sighed before leaning forward, "I'll bite, tell me the whole thing."

After a while,

Tatsuya sat, his eyes staring at Mustang, but they were unfocused.

From what he understood, this priest Cornello was able to bypass the law of equivalent exchange. He used something that boosted the Alchemy. Even the Military was using researching something like that.

But, for Tatsuya, it raised even more questions. He had a feeling that these things were connected. But, how? for what purpose?

He looked at Mustang before standing up, "We'll be leaving, for now, to meet the Sewing Life Alchemist."

Mustang didn't mind; he took a paper writing the address before giving it to Tatsuya and Miyuki, "this is the address of Shou Tucker, the Sewing life alchemist."

"Right, I found something in the central city."

Mustang's face became serious, but the expectation in his eyes was clearly visible, "What did you find?"

Tatsuya hesitated, "there are eyes in the shadows...Literally."

Mustang frowned, "what is that supposed to mean?"

Tatsuya shook his head, "for now, even I don't know."

After Tatsuya and Miyuki walked away, Mustang sat on his chair. His eyes intently stared at the door in front of his desk.

'Eyes in the shadows...information network? What did he mean by literally...'

He had been hoping for some information, but this wasn't it. He didn't even understand this one.

It didn't long before his door opened and the people of his unit poured in.

His eyes turned to a small build young man, wearing bespectacled on the young face, he was Kain Fuery. Next to him was a skinny man with silver hair, Vato Falman, the information specialist.

Next to come in was Jean Havoc, a tall amestrian man with a cigarette in his mouth. He was honest, loyal, hardworking, who lead his subordinates by example.

The investigation specialist of his team was the one to enter next, Heymans Breda. With his shaggy crew cut, stocky build, and meaty appearance. He could fool anyone into thinking that he didn't possess the intelligence.

And finally, the last and most important member of his unit, Lt. Riza Hawkeye.

He was going to use these people and climb the ranks, becoming the Fuhrer of this country.

East City, Shou Tuckers House,

Miyuki stood in front of the big house, her brows still furrowed, "will this guy be any help?"

Tatsuya brushed her hair, "if you don't want to meet him this badly, you can go home." His other hand was holding two books.

Miyuki shook her head, "you don't have to worry; I haven't forgotten my teachings."

When they went inside the steel door and knocked on the wooden door, a bespectacled man appeared, "two visitors in a day."

He slowly peeked out of his house, "who are you?"

But, he soon widened his eyes after seeing Tatsuya and Miyuki, "you are the new Alchemist couple, the sun and moon alchemists." He remembered having seen them, especially Miyuki since she was the only female State Alchemist.

Miyuki greeted him, bowing politely, "You are the Sewing Life Alchemist?"

Shou Tucker opened the door, rubbing the back of his head, "Yes, I wonder what brings you here?"

Tatsuya shook his hand, "We wanted to look through some of your notes; of course, we wouldn't freeload." He put forward the two books, "these are my research notes on my Alkahestry."

Shou Tucker's eyes flashed as he stared at the book, "I would like nothing more, but currently, The Fullmetal Alchemist is using my file room. Would that be a problem for you?"

Miyuki smiled, denying that, "No, we already know Ed and Al are here. We were hoping to meet them."

Tucker was a bit surprised as he guided them inside, "You know them?"

"Yes, we lived in Resembool for some time. We met them there."

"Ah, yes, now that I think about it, the two of them are also from Resembool."

He opened the door to his file room, "here, this is my file room."

"Papa!!"

Just when he opened the room, a little girl's voice entered Tatsuya and Miyuki's ear.

"Nina..."

Miyuki held her other hand tightly as she watched Shou Tucker squat down and patting the little girl's head. Her whole body shivered as a chill went through her spine.
