Enrollment Arc 16

The next day, after my morning classes ended, I slumped on my chair.

"Damn, I had hard time staying awake", I muttered.

"How are you so lazy at school and yet so smart at studies and practical?", Shun asked me, sitting on the seat next to me.

"I have a good memory", I said. "And hey, thanks for the names you gave me"

"it only has the names from the first years. I couldn't find another our seniors", Shun said with regrets. "Also, that senpai you told us about, Tsukasa Kinoe, he's not a wesen"

"Are you sure?", I asked to confirm. Being the brother of the main villain of the enrollment arc, I expected the brothers to be wesen, since most troubles in this world are caused my wesen. But as it turns out my worry was for naught. But I am impressed that a human is able to become a key figure in Blanche.

"I will still look into him, since you said he's suspicious", Shun said.

"Don't pressure yourself", I said and stood up to my seat. "It's not like I need it urgently"

I walked up to Miyuki, Honoka and Shizuku and said, "let's meet up with others"

"Yes!", Honoka stood up instantly. She looked quite eager.

"No, Onii-sama told me he'd probably be late. So we should eat first and then go meet them", Miyuki said.

"Sounds like a plan to me", I said.

"Sure", Shizuku said in monotone.

"Let me get my bento", Miyuki said and walked to her bag. Honoka and Shizuku followed suit.

I did the same and took out my own bento, placed within the simple lunch bag.

And soon, we started having lunch in the classroom itself.

"Did you make your own lunch, Miyuki-san?", Honoka asked. Because we usually eat in the student council, she didn't see us bring bento.

"Yes, I do Honoka", Miyuki smiled at Honoka and proceeded to eat her rice.

"Is that instant Ramen?", Shizuku asked me, seeing my lunch.

"Yep", I said and then started slurping my soup.

"Shouldn't you eat something more healthy?", asked Honoka.

"Don't worry, I eat healthy back at home. I don't like eating lunch, but school makes me hungry anyway. So I prefer something I enjoy eating", I said. "Plus, ramen is plenty healthy "

"Don't argue with him, Honoka", Miyuki spoke up. "He won't listen. Yesterday, he threw a bottle cap at my forehead for his ramen"

The heads of the two girls turned towards me asking for explanation.

"She froze my Ramen!", I said in defense. "You shouldn't mess up a guy's food, especially my favorite food. That's a sacred trust", I said in matter-of-fact tone.

The three girls started laughing lightly.

"Also, Ramen is easy to make early in the morning", I said.

"Do you make your own lunch?", Shun's head appeared on my right.

"Dude, space!", I complained.

"Oh, sorry, I overheard when you said you make your own lunch"

"I make my own food at home", I informed.

"Wow!", Shun said. If this was in the anime, I'm pretty sure his eyes would be starry. "I tried making food but I almost burnt down my house. Since then, I family banned me from kitchen"

"What the hell did you do to mess up that bad?", I couldn't help but ask.

With some more conversation, we finished eating. After cleaning up, me and the four girls proceeded to the practice room.

"You seem to get along with Morisaki-kun, Tobi-san", Honoka said.

"Honoka, please drop the suffix. It feels weird with that", I said.

"Sorry"

"Anyways, yeah. Other than his superiority complex he used to have, he's pretty nice guy", I said.

"Had?", Miyuki raised an eyebrow. She still doesn't seem to like Shun

"Yes, had. Didn't you notice he doesn't go around being the bigman in front of the course 2 students?" I asked.

With this, Miyuki dropped the topic.

As we reached the magic practice room, we saw Tatsuya chat with Mizuki while Erika and Leo were trying to clear the spell activation within the 1000ms time limit.

"Onii-sama", Miyuki called out.

"Oh you are here Miyuki" Tatsuya smiled. "Let's have lunch together with everyone"

"DON'T PRESSURE US TATSUYA!", Erika and Leo whined in unison.

They put in their utmost focus into casting and finally

Their scores were displayed. Soon everyone say down for lunch should the four of us drank a can of cool drinks.

"Miyuki-chan, did you already finish eating?"

"Yes. Onii-sama said to come over after eating."

At Mizuki's concerned question, Miyuki replied with this.

"Eh, I'm a little surprised. I thought Miyuki would say "I won't begin unless Onii-sama picks up his chopsticks!" or something like that."

Erika's comment was accompanied by full blown laughter rather than mere giggling. Of course, joined her in her laughing mania.

From her expression, it was clear that she was purely joking. No one present gave it a serious thought.

Normally that would be the case, but today was because of Onii-sama's orders

"Miyuki-chan's class is also starting in technical practice, right? What's it like?"

"Of course I'm displeased. That kind of exercise is only good for practicing alone."

At her elder brother's teasing words, Miyuki replied in a huff, but her voice was tinged with a flirtatious tone.

We soon proceeded to talk about the issue between and course 1 and 2 and Erika talked about her dojo.

It was something I had no interest in, do I remained silent, slowly drinking my drink.

By the way, did Class A use the same CAD?"

"Yes.", I replied to Erika's question.

"Then, can you two try it out? Just for reference", Erika asked me and Miyuki.

Miyuki stood and walked up to the demonstration CAD. She placed her hands on it and the digital codes appeared and next moment, the magic was cast and the cart moved forward.

"NO WAY!" everyone except me and Tatsuya exclaimed.

"Is that even possible?", leo asked, doubtfully.

"If it wasn't, you wouldn't be seeing it now, would you Leo?", I asked.

While everyone were expressing 5heir amazement, Tatsuya didn't.

He even looked somewhat disappointed as he wrinkled his brow.

"The old models used for education can only do so much. There's nothing you can do, Miyuki."

"There's no other choice, I have to use these maladjusted Activation Sequence filled with background noise... It's really irritating. As expected, my real strength can only be revealed by the CADs maintained by Onii-sama himself."

Halfway between throwing a tantrum and being coquettish, Miyuki lay her head against Tatsuya's side. Tatsuya gently patted her head like he was comforting a child.

Everyone who was watching this scene did not tease them like they usually would.

The siblings' strength and words were displayed before their very eyes.

Before the difference displayed by the pair, jealousy was something only idiots would feel.

"Why do you look not even the least bit surprised, Tobi?", Mizuki noticed me and asked.

"Oh, well, ah, she did tie with me in the entrance exam, so I shouldnt be surprised with this right?", I said.

"You mean, you could score this high?!", Erika exclaimed.

I didn't answer and simply walked up to the CAD. I placed my hand in it but before casting, I asked, "Do you wanna see my actual activation speed or typical speed?"

"Is there a difference?", Honoka asked.

I didn't reply again, and transferred psions into the CAD and the magic was cast.

"432ms", the measurements showed.

"This is my typical speed", I said. I got ready to repeat the whole process again. "And this", I activated my sharingan and glanced at the wrists, "is my actual speed"

It didn't take long, and the cart moved.

"198ms"

"WHAT?!", everyone exclaimed again. I could hear Leo spitting his juice.

"That's impossible!"

I turned around and see the shocked faces of my friends without exception.

"How did you do that?", Erika asked in surprise.

"He read the activation sequence even before it was absorbed into his body", Mizuki said as if she just had a realisation.

"Cmon, Mizuki. You can't go around giving away my secrets!", I complained. Her eyes are too sharp!

"is that even possible?"

"Reading is possible but I can't tell what that spell is until I calculated it",I said.

"Even so, this type of speed it just... ", shizuku trailed off as she spoke.

"That wasn't your top speed is it?", Tatsuya asked me. Everyone's heads turned to him then at me.

"I guess Mizuki isn't the only one with special sight", I said, rubbing the back of my head.

Tatsuya didn't reply. He just stared at me, along with his sister, asking for an answer.

"Yes it wasn't. The CAD isn't fast enough. I had a hard time trying not to fry the processor", I said in frustration.

The truth was, this too wasn't my top speed. Not only was it not tuned, isn't processing speed itself conform keep up with me. If I put full force, the result with be some severe damage like what happened to the Reaper's scythe whem I first arrived hear.

And I could be even faster if I relied purely on my memory.

"Here I thought Miyuki was the real monster", Erika couldn't help but admit.

"Oh she is. Her information rewriting ability is way above mine", I admitted. My familiarity authority magic itself isn't as high as her. Sharingan was able to help me speed up the process but understanding it properly to fully control my magic would still need my time.

Even so, it feels great to show off!
