The Introverted Witch

A school holiday trip turns bloody when a pack of werewolves attacks and it becomes a problem for Auroras when she's tasked to take care of the students. There is another student that's a vampire but he cannot do it alone. It's more of a problem because she's outed as a witch when no one knew her as one of the supernatural, and because she's an introvert and a wallflower, she is now everyone's favorite person when they didn't bother about her before. On the trip, she encounters Kane, an unwanted and dangerous being who was not supposed to be there. Through the connection, she becomes a chosen one and throughout her trials, she gives in. Away from home and everything she knows, Aurora has to survive on her own. With everything taken from her and the only help she has is from trading with daemons, she has to earn her freedom. Learning new skills on her way, things she's never dreamed were possible a year ago. From a witch who had to hide her power to a powerful sorceress, Aurora is at a loss though. Does she even understand what freedom means to a daemon? Can she fight against those who oppose her and does she even want to? *** Aurora is an introvert. Partly born and party grew more into an introvert as time went on. She is also a witch, which complicates things since witches are social beings. Hence the reason of covens. She wants both but cannot get either. On one hand, she has extra workload and on the other, it seems like the spirits have rejected her and so no coven wants her and that included the coven she was born in.

Chapter 4

"Hello dear, how's the trip?"

They didn't have caller ID at home but her aunt always knew who was calling. She smiled and relaxed for the first time after encountering the Draconian daemon.

"Hi... I think I found out why I am needed here, so it's been good so far, how's things with me gone?"

She relaxed on the bed and played with her chain when the door opened "Urh, I'm sorry, I can't talk about what happened now but I'll phone later, tell me how's things on your end" Aurora said because she cannot risk outing herself

"Oh well, things here are great without you, you should leave more often, a really handsome dude came to the store today and I invited him over, we were just making out when you called"

She laughed and rolled her eyes at her Aunts antics, "Oh my goodness! I swear, it's like I'm the elder in the house! You better do your chores young lady or be prepared to face the consequences!" Stephanie who entered the room before gave her a funny look but Aurora acted like she didn't see.

"Onto serious matters, I booked an appointment for you to meet the council, you cannot keep going for interviews and being rejected so I asked the council for help and they granted me permission to bring you..." her voice trailed off and I knew it was not all

"I hear a but... something serious too"

She didn't feel like forcing the issue would be the best course of action. The council, if they accept to help her, would force a coven to accept her and that is not what she wants, she heard her aunt sigh in frustration.

"In order for them to see you, I have to be on the council again and it's not guaranteed that they will help you, if they cannot, no coven will ever accept you" Aurora sighed in frustration as well and wanted to cry but she blinked it back and turned her face away from her roommate "I - you cannot - oh gosh this is a mess, I'll call you back, bye" her voice was choked up and she didn't know what to say so she hung up and buried her face in her pillow but she felt self-conscious with her roommate and knowing the others will be here soon, she got up and ran out, even with exhaustion pulling her down.

As long as Aurora could remember, she always felt like she never belonged. It's what makes her try so hard to get into a coven because once she's in, it would finally feel like she belongs. Meaning, once they accept her willingly and are not forced to by the council and now the council is using this to their advantage by asking for her aunt to be back on the council she ran away from. She never let them know how much it affected her, she never even fully confided in her aunt. She always put a strong front whenever she needed and acted like she never thinks twice about what they say, like it had no ripple effect but inside, she's falling to pieces and she doesn't know what to do to stop herself from spiraling out of control. Her aunt and hope always kept her above water but she's slowly slipping and drowning. She's trying to hang on but there's nothing holding her here besides her aunt. She feels so alone, abandoned, rejected, and unattached from the rest of the world. Aurora was born an introvert like most but there's also something that separated her from everything at the same time which she's learned to ignore until her 'episodes' hit her like now. Afterward, she went back to the cabin to recharge on her own before meeting up at the campfire.

She was shocked to see mostly the adults around the fire, she was sure everyone would be there but when she looked around, it was surprisingly empty of students and her introverted brain chased her from there. She decided to just get something to eat in the kitchen and get an early night, not that it was early but earlier than she normally slept. She was not the only one in the kitchen but no one paid her any attention so she did the same. She saw the different patties and buns and made her burger but left to eat on her own in her cabin.

Her heart sped up when her thoughts turned to the daemon, Kane... His body and presence attracted her. What's wrong with her? Is she really feeling this way for a daemon? She should be scared of him, no, terrified! And she was in his presence but now when she thinks back, all she can see is his magnificent form and the confusion this is bringing her is tearing her apart because she feels she needs to keep his identity and his presence a secret, even from her aunt... She doesn't want to listen to that part of herself because she has every reason to inform her aunt and the council, but she cannot shake the feeling that she would be betraying him and it's not making any sense!

"For goodness sake Aurora, would you stop! What's wrong with you? You almost ran over me twice plus Stephanie, just stop pacing or pace outside" shrieked Rachel.

They both were doing their nails on the floor, Joanna, our teacher stepped out a while ago, most probably with the others at the campfire. She took it to heart and collected her purse and left. Last night, this place was deserted because everyone was busy in their own cabins but today it was a life with a buzz of a new experience. She just needed to get away, on her own, she needed her own space. She would have to venture further into the forest than she did last night. She wondered if she wandered around in the forest on her own and if her daemon would find her. Oh gosh, she called him her daemon! What the actual hell? She was starting to hyperventilate. Aurora didn't know where to go, there was no safe place, she couldn't stay there because most of the students and teachers were out and she couldn't go back to her room, and there was a chance that he would find her in the forest. She felt helpless and she just needed to get away from everything! She stumbled away from the campsite and dreaded going into the forest but he might not be there...
