Chapter 2: Ben Tests

{Warning, this is a very short chapter, chapters will be longer after the 3rd or 4th chapter, and will continuously be at least 1,000 words or more.}

This festival is the same as every year. Ben and I are finally old enough to get appraised, we will have our aptitudes for everything tested, our strength, speed, etc. And lastly, and most importantly, we will be tested to see if we are worthy of the Great Vampire God's inheritance. I look down at the paper in my hand, 963,632, Ben is only one number ahead of me, being the last in line isn't that bad, there is only 5 numbers left until my turn, including Ben, I can't lie, I'm nervous, and by the shaking of Ben's hands, I can tell he is too. Everyone's aptitudes are mediocre at best, average Vampire strength, speed, intelligence, endurance, and durability are all above the human slaves, the only other occupants of this planet besides our animals. But just because Vampires are stronger than all other creatures doesn't mean that Vampires are strong in our society, to us, we all have similar strength, besides me, and the vampire warriors and generals. The king is very strong, the strongest vampire alive, but he's not strong in all aspects, for example, his speed is lacking compared to his strength and durability. "963 631!" I hear the man in the front yell, Ben turns to me, smiles, and says "Wish me luck." I nod, watching him walk to the platform, my heart stiffening, my hands shaking, my legs drumming on the floor as if I'm the fastest musical artist in the world, my breath low and shallow, as I watch Ben put his hand on the altar. It rises by one light, then two, then three, it's at three, that's a medium aptitude for being a warrior, that means if all else fails, he has a easy chance of becoming a warrior. He needs to test his attributes now. I watch in silence as he gets into a fighting stance in front of the machine. He punches, 500 pounds, 1 ton, 2 tons, 3 tons, 4 tons, 5 tons. His strength is that of the average middle class warrior, which means after training, he could probably reach the level of a general. He smiles, his teeth practically blinding me. He goes to the speed machine, holding the handles, he is signaled to start and runs, 20 miles per hour, 40 miles per hour, 100 miles per hour, 150 miles per hour. This is around the average high class warrior's speed, he will definitely be a general, the tests go on, his durability is the level of a middle class warrior, his endurance is as high as most generals. Ben goes up to the inheritance jar, trying to open it, and failing, he shrugs and walks up to the man. "Benjamin, you are a warrior, please proceed to the Great Hall of Alexander to learn more about your job." the man says, Ben smiles, his grin stretching as far as the length of the sun and the moon.
