I woke up to the obnoxious ringing sound of Hailey's alarm.
'Hey Hailey,' I popped my head out of my quilt to find her standing by the dresser. I mean, she's already awake and dressing, so why the heck is her alarm going off!!!??,ugh.
'Yeah!?' She eyed me through the mirror.
'I'd really appreciate it if you could turn off that fucking thing. You know, considering you are already dressed and what not,' she shrugged her shoulders and turned to face me.
'Actually, Sam, that's not my alarm. My alarm was set to ring over an hour ago and I turned it off almost immediately.
This, however, is my ringtone.
Trevor's ringing me cause he wants to come over.
Since we doesn't have classes till Monday, he has decided to take it upon himself to help me make the most of the weekend,' she finished with a smile plastered on her face.
'Okay. But you can still put it on silent, you know,' I snorted rolling my eyes and adjusting my position so I could face her.
'Alright you grump. But we need to hurry up cause he is going to be here by 10 and that's like,' checks her watch 'about 50 mins from now,' I was now sat up on my bed listening to her.
'I'm sorry? we?' I asked trying to rub away sleep from my eyes.
'Yes, we. So get your ass out of bed and get ready,' she said stomping off to the bathroom.
I know I make friends real fast, but didn't expect to be hanging out with her this soon. Even if she was my roommate, let alone hanging out with her and boyfriend.
'So, we are hanging out huh? Just the three of us? Not to be rude, but I don't fancy third-wheeling. It gets awkward,' I muttered trudging towards the bathroom and almost ran into her.
'Shit Summers! Look where you are going, will you?' I guess she doesn't want her makeup smudged all over her face when her "Knight" gets here.
I chuckled raising my hands in defence, 'I'm sorry'.
I walked past her and into the bathroom running the shower.
'I never knew you could smile' I heard her laugh 'you look like such a snobbish grump if you ask me'.
'That I am, but I can and i do. Just not as often as regular people do'
She chuckled clearing her throat, 'oh and about third wheeling, we're going to be hanging out with a couple of friends'.
I walked into the room grabbing my towel and shampoo responding to her with a huge grin and thumbs up.
'You could also invite that pretty redhead,' I laughed at this because I could hear the jealousy in the way she said 'pretty redhead' .
'Aww, Hailey, you're jealous of my best friend?' I called out to her from the shower.
'No. I'm perfectly okay. You heard what he said. I have no reason to be. I have his word' she said in an accomplished tone.
'Jealous or not, I'm sure you'll grow fond of her. She's the nicest. Plus, you two are more similar than you think.'
'Okay. Finish up in the shower and ring her, tell her to come over so we can save time, yeah?'
'Cool.'
I finished up, wrapping a towel around my body and another around my hair. I walked over to my bed and took my phone from my nightstand finding three missed calls and a million texts from Barb.
She was just asking if she could come over and hangout since she didn't have classes all weekend. So I texted her.
"Yes, I was just about to ring you. We're going to hangout with my roomie, her boyfriend and a couple of their friends".
I got a reply almost instantly, 'yaaay, fuuuuuuun, I'll be there in 30. Please be ready by then.' With that I made my bed and picked out an outfit. I was just going to wear a pair of blue jeans, a black tank top and a leather jacket.
I decided to wear my hair straight with minimal makeup. I'm just not that devoted to " dolling up" as Barb would call it.
'How do you do that?' I turned around to see a curious looking Hailey, 'do what?'
'You've got ready in like, what? 5mins? You aren't even dressed fancy,no offence. Plus, you are wearing close to no make up and yet you look stunning'
'Yeah, yeah, you look beautiful too,in your floral sundress. I like it, it's just not something I'd wear,' I smiled at her. She really did look great. I just wasn't into girly appearances. Though I wore dresses on occasions.
Then the door was flung open to reveal a very handsome Trevor who wore a crisp long sleeved shirt, black jeans and a pearly white smile. This boy is beautiful if I was being honest with myself. His eyes glittered as he smiled walking towards Hailey, wrapping his arms around her in a tight embrace. I was happy for Hailey. This boy was completely infatuated with her and it showed. You could see it in the way he looked at her. A look she returned.
He turned his head to look at me, smiling,' Hey Sam, how're you?'
'Hey, fine fine'. I said returning his smile as Hailey stood smiling at our polite exchange.
My phone buzzed and I grabbed it hastily. 'It's Barb, she's here,' I said walking to my dresser to grab my iPod. 'Okay, shall we ladies?' Trevor asked. Hailey responded 'yes, come on guys' at the same I said, 'let's just go'.
At the parking lot, I was met by an enthusiastic Barbara who ran into me, hugging me, almost knocking me down. I had to take a few steps back to steady myself. 'I've missed you so much Sam, so so much, I'm so happy we'll get to hangout today'.
I pulled away chuckling at how emotional my best friend could be. I mean, she had tears streaming down her face. I wiped them away with my thumb smiling at her. 'It's been what? two days? Come on, get yourself together, you don't want the boys to see you crying now do you?'
This made her crack up as she clutched her stomach. 'No, I wouldn't like that at all. Speaking of boys, what's my school's president doing with a girl from your school?' oh shhhh, I totally forgot to tell her.
'Well, this is Hailey Stone. My roommate and your school president is her boyfriend, Trevor Knight.' She smiled at them shaking their hands. 'Hey, I'm Barbara Lockwood, "the best friend" '.
'Hailey, where are we going?' I interrupted. 'Well, I don't know yet. Babe?' Trevor just walked over to his car tugging Hailey along.
'Just follow our car you'll know when we get there,' he winked and opened the passenger door for Hailey who rolled her eyes getting in and shutting it. I got in Barb's car ridding shotgun. I really don't like driving unless I have to and in this case, I don't.
Trevor's car drove out of the parking lot and we followed them through the school's outskirts and into town. After about 30 mins, they pulled over and texted us to look for parking space nearby as they did the same.
Then we met and strolled further into town until we stood before our destination, 'are you alright Sam?' Hailey held my shoulder trying to get my attention I stood unwaveringly. Barbara followed my eyes and gasped. 'You've got to
be shitting me,' I muttered in a low displeased tone but everyone seemed to have heard me.
