The Arrival

The first memory I have of those fiery red eyes was three years ago when the Soul traders arrived at my gates. They were mercenaries, loyal to none but deeply rooted to their principles. They were a wise folk but a blunder was made when they chose to trade with the royalties of this very place my pillars stand upon.

The memory of those Auburn locks that reflected the rays of sunset as they were winnowed by the Autumn breeze that blew past her face while her steed ran fast against its flow is imprinted on my mind very vividly.

The traders' ride were agile spirits that comes in various forms. The rarest amongst the steeds was the dark-eyed crepuscular stallion with a thick shadowy mane that seemed to dissolve all light that hits it. One of these stallions belonged to none other than Fiery Red Eyes. Her soul bleeds the colour of darkness but kindness radiates through her eyes. There was a strange aura about her which is probably the reason why she was chosen by the stallion to be it's caretaker and master.

The day the Soul traders arrived at my gates was the last day they ever left the palace grounds. Their souls were cursed to be bottled in containers that hung off the palace walls near the crematorium. Soul traders were forbidden to trade with my evil masters and their ignorance had led to their mishap.

Fiery Red Eyes was the only one that escaped the wrath of the curse and along with her, her confidante was spared from having his soul extorted though he could not leave the palace until Fiery Red Eyes pay the price for the misdeed commited by her kind.

So she rode through a myriad midnights and twilights searching for ways to free her comrade and, if possible to hopefully free the bottled souls of all the Soul traders that met with the cursed fate.
