Bones crunched against stone and metal as a loud squelching noise rented the air. Muffled cries of pain reverberated through the damp walls. The floor was strewn with dead and dying bodies, varying in their degrees of mutilation. Three lay freshly broken, pain clouding their eyes and causing their bodies to tremble. A dark figure stood at the other end of the room. In a flash it loomed over them, snatching up one of the bodies.

"No…please…" the broken man gasped, his mind begging just for it to end.

"Where are they?" the dark figure growled, his voice the epitome of bestial and primal.

"I…I…I…"

Pain surged through the broken man so the words could not even come out. The dark figure snarled and shook him. Blood lust consumed the dark figure as he fed off his own hate. Holding back his urge to rip the broken man's throat out with his bare teeth, the dark figure breathed heavily.

"I don't know," the broken man finally managed to say. "I don't know."

"Do you think I won't kill you like I did your friends?"

"Friends? We aren't friends. We were creatures who merely hid among each other. They led us through fear and respect. They fed our desires…."

"Your desires to hurt others…to feed on the weak. You are the weak now…maybe I should just feed on you."

"Please…don't…"

No matter how much the pain tore at the broken man's body, fear of death outweighed his desire to end the pain.

"Then tell me where they are!"

The dark man grabbed the broken man's arm so tightly it snapped in his hands. Screaming, the broken man almost fainted in agony. Gulping in the pain and hate, the dark figure shuddered from his feeding.

"Tell me!" he repeated, his voice becoming almost unrecognizable as human.

"They abandoned us! I do not know…"

"Why would they do that?"

"We were almost destroyed by that…that demon."

"What demon?"

"That girl Spellbinder. Her powers tore through the city and almost killed all of us."

"Why do you say almost?"

"We were healed and hurt at the same time. They fled…"

"Who?"

"Everyone who could…"

"I don't care about everyone. I care about them."

"Shoj and Relyt fled as well. You should know they don't care about anyone but themselves!"

Coughing blood, the broken man started to fade. The already dark room was becoming pitch dark.

"So they fled like cowards? Why? Were they hurt?"

"I don't know…I just know they fled…they abandoned us like the rest of the world has…"

More blood sprayed out of the broken man's mouth, spraying the dark figure's face. A long tongue lashed out of the dark figure's mouth, slurping up the blood from his face. He could feel the broken man's pulse fading and he had learned nothing from the broken man.

"Ever think it was you all who abandoned the world? You all who turned your back on the Goddess!"

"The Goddess?"

A pitiful laugh managed to break through the blood and tissue of the broken man.

"The Goddess doesn't care about any of us…she is the worse of them all. She abandoned us first before our parents and before Shoj and Relyt."

"You know nothing of the Goddess."

"I will ask her then when I see her because in death we are all equal. Mortals and gods."

"Bite your tongue!"

"I cannot wait to see her disgraced face in the afterlife and ask for what mongrel did she abandon the world."

"Silence!"

"Your Goddess is no goddess of mine. She is splay-legged bitch who betrayed the world."

Plunging his hand into the broken man's chest, the dark figure roared in anger. Stuck mid inhale, the broken man had a face of victory as his heart was crushed and ripped from his ribs.

"The Gods are dead…even if you cannot die, mongrel…even if your beloved Goddess has left you," he whispered vindictively before his breath expired.

Unable to control himself, the dark figure clamped his teeth around the dead man's throat and devoured it, the still hot blood pouring down his face and neck. Consuming the fresh flesh, the dark figure roared as he ripped, chewed and tore the dead man to pieces. After several long minutes, the dark figure slowed to a passionate chewing.

A soft clearing of a throat came from behind him, but he did not even move a muscle. He continued to consume the fallen Kuolema. Moving to the next Kuolema, who was still barely alive, he tore out the throat, feeling the life escape the Kuolema's body.

"Uh…" the voice from behind the dark figure said timidly. "Don't you think you're done? Isn't this enough? None of them knew where Shoj and Relyt were. They are all basically dead."

Still the dark figure said nothing as he moved to the final living Kuolema. As he poised to tear the final throat the person behind the dark figure called out.

"No, Tristan!" Yuki-Onna cried, her heart breaking. "Don't do it. You have fed. You have fed enough!"

Turning his almost unrecognizable face to her, Tristan snarled his bestial face, his prism green eyes flashing as blood dripped from his muzzle.

"It is never enough," he growled before turning back to the last man and tearing out his throat.

Miles away, safe, warm and cozy, Relyt woke on a soft bed made of goose feathers. Groggily he sat up and looked around. He could not recall what had happened after his battle with the bitch Chenoa. Relyt recalled that he had even transformed to fight her, but she had somehow won. In fact, he had been sure that she had killed him, or at least almost killed him, but his body felt brand new, even stronger than before.

"I know…it's amazing," a friendly voice spoke.

Looking up, Relyt paused for he had been flexing his hands and arms. Shoj stood, grinning broadly. There was an odd light about his friend that Relyt could not place. They were in a small hut that was warmed by a large fire in a simple fireplace. There were two beds, one of which Relyt lay in, a small work bench and a small kitchen table. It looked like a dwarf home if Relyt had to guess.

"Don't worry. I dealt with the family already," Shoj laughed, nodding to a pile of what looked like hides and clothes.

The family, drained of all of their blood. Shoj had feasted greatly.

"How long have I been out?" Relyt asked studying the hut.

"Over a week from what I guess. I only woke up three days before you. I got us out of the city. It was going to the dogs. I figured we both needed somewhere safe to heal."

"Smart. Do you know what happened?"

"Yes. I saw it all until I was knocked unconscious."

"Then what happened?"

Shoj shuddered at the miraculous memory, biting his lip in pleasure.

"It was amazing, Relyt. Like watching a god being born. Her power and chaos were intoxicating."

"Her? Who that mongrel bitch?"

"Yes. Chenoa Rose, the burning god child."

"God child? You must be joking?"

"I am not…"

Shoj's eyes burned brilliantly in his head. They reflected a fire that Relyt had never seen in his friend. It was an insane, hungry fire that Relyt reveled in. Whatever had caused such an intoxicating change in Shoj could only be good.

"Tell me more then, brother," Relyt insisted.

"Oh, I shall do more than just tell you, brother. I shall show you."

Holding up his left hand, Shoj snarled in ecstasy as a ball of hot white and royal purple flames appeared. Relyt stared transfixed. Nodding, Shoj threw the ball at the body of the drained dwarves and their bodies, along with a whole side of the hut, disintegrated.

"She has blessed us greatly, brother," Shoj moaned, playing with the new power between his fingers. "And we shall repay her kindness in time."

"How, if I may ask, dear Shoj?"

"She is our goddess, Relyt. We shall find her, worship her and then I shall bind her to me for eternity."
