29: Departure and Pearl City

'Okay, Vanessa you can go and have some rest I will call you down at the time of dinner.' seeing how tired she would get from tomorrow's journey, Robert knew that she needed some rest today.

'Okay, grandpa I was tired anyway. Well, what's for dinner?' she knew that her grandpa was worried for her, she had told Knave that she was tired but for a cultivator, a journey of 5 to 6 days, is nothing but to reject her grandfather's good intentions would be bad.

'Haha, I knew you would be interested in today's dinner. I had Melissa specially prepare your favourite apple pie.' as soon as he knew Vanessa was home, Robert had Melissa prepare a scrumptious dinner for her and obviously her favourite dessert was part of it.

' What! Apple pie!! Grandpa from what I know getting apples in our region is already really hard. You don't have to make aunt Malaysia work for me that much.' she knew how hard it was to make Apple pie, finding the ingredient was the easiest part preparing it was the actual hard part, she had seen aunt Melissa work on it in front of her so that if she required she could make herself, but it was really hard.

'Don't worry, don't worry. It's not just for you, it's for that kid as well. You know, he only had two requests for me after he got adopted, the first was to be able to read all the books in the study and other was to have delicious dishes made for him at lunch and dinner.' whenever Robert thought of Knave's request he couldn't help but smile, for an adult being able to provide a child what he needs is the most wonderful feeling and for a kid to ask for food was an even more happy situation as this showed that he was close to you.

'Oh, so we do have so common okay common' hearing what her grandfather said made Vanessa happy because until now she and her brother didn't have any point of common interest but this was just solved.

While Knave was reading in the study time passed on eventually when time came for dinner, Sam came up to call him down.

When he was in the dining room, he could see that Robert and Vanessa were sitting in their respective places. During the dinner, Vanessa would come up with topics about different kind of food that she had eaten till now, while listening to this Knave was quite interested because being able to eat different kind of Cuisine was one of his pastimes.

In their merry time of talking and eating time passed on and it was time for the bed. The night passed in silence without any hiccup.

Early next morning Robert had prepared a carriage for them which would take them to the nearest city. It would take them around two to three days to reach the nearest city and from there Vanessa would take them to the Academy.

'Knave, study hard to become a good cultivator, be strong and protect your sister whenever she is in trouble ok.' Robert reminded him.

'Don't worry grandpa. I will protect sister Vanessa with everything I have.' showing a face full of determination and without any hesitation he replied.

While he promised that to Robert, Vanessa who was listening to this by the side couldn't help but smile giggle, because she couldn't Phantom the situation in which she would need his help when she was a spirit refining realm while he was still a mortal.

' Grandpa don't worry. I will have him admitted into the academy and take care of him. So you don't have to worry about a single thing. We will come back around New Year.' Vanessa reassured her grandfather again.

'Okay, take care of each other' nodding again Robert bade them farewell.

The next two to three days went without any major incidents. Knave had taken some of the books which he had not read with him from the study to past time while he was in the carriage and Vanessa would always sit cross-legged and only talk to him while they were having dinner or lunch.

As they had not gotten close to each other that much, they didn't have too much to talk to each other. Finally, on the third day in the evening, they had arrived at the closest city, The Pearl City.
