Unintentionally

"Amber? Are you okay?" Renna shook her shoulders when she did not respond.

After a few seconds, Amber jerked her eyes open and started coughing vigorously.

Renna rushed towards the desk to grab a glass of water for her. Patting her back, she quickly helped her take a few sips from the glass. "Are you okay? Oh my God, you are bleeding." Taking out a tissue paper from her bag, she quickly gave it to her.

"I—I am fine."

When Amber lifted her head up, Renna gasped, "Your eyes are so red Amber, do you want me to take you to the hospital or call for some help."

"No, there is no need for that. I am okay now." After a deep breath, she added, "But we have to take you to the hospital and get your arm treated."

"M-My hand—" Running her fingers through her arm, Renna widened her eyes in shock. "Amber, my arm—. Look, it's not swollen and the wound is gone too."

"What—" Scrunching her brows, Amber looked at her arm. Widening her eyes in shock, she gulped in nervousness. Renna's arm which was swollen a minute ago was now completely normal.

"How did this happen? Did you—"

Balling her hand into a fist, Amber remarked, "Renna, can we continue this session later?"

"Sure, when should I call you?"

"Tomorrow maybe—nevermind, I will give you a call later."

Grabbing her bag, Renna nodded her head. "Okay, you should take care of yourself."

Standing by the door, Amber gave her a weak smile, "Yes I will." After Renna left, she locked the door from inside and rushed towards the washroom.

…..

Inside the washroom.

Opening the tap, Amber splashed the cold water on her face continuously until she felt better. Pressing both her hands on the sink, she looked at the mirror.

This wasn't the first time something like this had happened. This wasn't the first time she had unintentionally healed someone.

For years, Amber had been looking for answers, trying to find what was wrong with her and the reason behind the strange and unusual things that kept happening.

Everything started when eight years old Amber unintentionally healed a puppy who was in the brisk of death. At that time, she was too young to understand how and what had happened. She was just too elated knowing she had saved a puppy's life. But as she kept growing up, she started realizing something was wrong with her.

Things got even more intense when she started seeing visions in broad daylight. A weird sensation and vision would cloud her mind and eyes if something bad was to happen to her close ones.

Her aunt always told her she was special and this was a gift of the Almighty but Amber knew it wasn't just a gift or something that should happen to any normal human being. It was different, she was different.

She read many books and attended many mythology classes to understand and get to the root of the special and unique things that were happening to her. But no matter how hard she tried, her questions were always left unanswered.

She didn't know if it was a gift or a curse, whether it was something she inherited during her birth or something that happened afterwards. But despite failing to find out the source of her uniqueness, she never felt dejected but instead worked harder. She didn't know whether she would ever manage to find out the truth but she didn't want to give up.

Maybe one day she would find all the answers to the mysterious and strange thing that kept happening in her life.

Grabbing a paper towel, she wiped off the blood which was still oozing out of her nose before tossing it inside the bin.

…..

After stepping out of the washroom, she rubbed her fingers on her throbbing forehead before slumping on the couch. Whenever she unintentionally healed someone, she always felt extremely exhausted even though she did not do anything physically tiring.

A few seconds later, her eyelids started turning heavy. An unexplained exhaustion enveloped her body. Giving in to the exhaustion, Amber slowly closed her eyes.
