Chapter 16

Tears are raindrops from the storms inside us.

As I sat next to Hazel, she poured her heart into the things she'd been seeing. I just remained there as my mind mentally broke down as each word left her lips. How could someone grasp so much pain inside them??

"I'm so sorry Jamie. I just couldn't bear to tell someone but then Layla talked about the nursery and I couldn't." She sobbed. I encircled my arms around her and gave her a generous hug.

"I have a confession to Hazel," I stated.

I told her about Alex and the second part of the vision.

"God Jamie what do we do with all this information," Hazel asked.

"We have to tell Aanisah and Layla. We can't keep this from them" I replied.

Hazel gave me a nod and we walked back to the front room where Aanisah and Layla were waiting for us. Both me and Hazel shared our stories and both the girls just told us that they understood why we hid it. We sat there the rest of the day watching movies on Netflix and eating junk. It was relaxing to be a teenager sometimes.

That was when I came up with a great but dangerous idea.

"Guys why don't Aanisah and Layla bring us in and if they say where are the hunters, say that we killed them in the fire!" I explained.

Everyone thought about it for minutes and agreed to it.

"We'll do it tomorrow but guys what about Tatia?" Aanisah asked.

God, I forgot that we have a psychopath living in our storage closet. We all went up to the little closet and peeked through it where we saw Tatia trying to break the chains. When she saw us she screamed so loud I thought that for the rest of my life I would never hear anything else. We quickly closed the door and agreed to leave her there.

"Get some rest guys, we have a big day ahead of us" Layla demanded.

Everyone started to go into their rooms while I sat on the couch with a blanket around me trying to sleep. I constantly thought about sleeping but then Alex popped in my head and I left the idea alone. My head was glued to the door of the closet. Without thinking, I tiptoed to the closet and went in. I turned on the dim glowing light. Tatia was tied in the centre. Her eyes flared with anger. I went close to her and removed the rope that was around her mouth.

"What do you want Jamie?!" She quietly screamed.

"I just want to figure out why you're with ALIRON?" I replied. She stared at me as if I had just shot her with a bullet.

"My business with ALIRON is private. I don't need to share it with you and I won't!" She exclaimed.

How was I supposed to get information from her when she wasn't giving in?

"What about your family can you tell me about them?" I asked. Straight away Tatia looked shocked. Her eyes started to water up.

"Well, I'll tell you what you want to know but on one condition." She demanded. I already knew that condition was going to be a regretful one but I craved to know.

"What's your condition Tatia?" I explained. Then a smile grew on her face like she knew she had just won.

"Well, when you took some things from Alex's boot. There was a case labelled ALIRON and inside it was a velvet box with a lock on it." She answered.

"So what are you getting at?" I requested.

"I need the box, Jamie, if you give it I'll answer any questions you need," she claimed.

I thought about the deal.

Why did she desire the box so much?? I didn't know if I should do it to her but this could help me understand ALIRON'S history and her's. I said yes to her demand and went to get the box. Afterwards, I came back to the closet holding the velvet box in my hands.

"Ok, I retrieved it. Can you answer some questions for me?" I inquired.

"I'm good on my word and I hope after the Q&A you'll be too," she said.

I thought about the first question I should ask.

"What happened to your parents, Tatia?" I asked.

"My parents were not exactly the normal type. We used to move a lot because of something my mom and dad used to hide from me. My parents were trained assassins..they killed without emotion and one day I found out. I cried every day because of this. But then they started training me to be the same as them. After a year of denial, I started to train. My parents were so proud of me. Then one day, they wanted to test my training. We went to an orphanage by our house and they set it on fire. They killed 120 people altogether after that I hollered at them asking what kind of sickening people they were and they threw me on the streets. I quickly learned to survive and when I had completed my training I planned my revenge. One night when they were sleeping I went into their house through an open window and killed them in their sleep by lethal injection. Then set the house on fire with their rotting corpses inside. It felt so good to kill them and well I then started to find people to serve. After ALIRON was created I applied to become one of their test subjects for the Alpha serum. It worked successfully and I became the leader after the First flew!" She explained.

The story was upsetting and distressing to hear because nobody should have to live a life like that. I started to understand Tatia Cerise and the life she lived.

"What about the first Alpha Tatia, who is it??" I asked.

"I have no idea, Jamie. They never talked about her and when I did some digging I found out they burned all her files and information about her," she stated.

"Thanks, Tatia. I'm so sorry about the life you lived. I understand why you did what you did. It was to survive" I explained.

"Thank you Jamie and now you're the end of the bargain" She replied.

Without hesitation, I put the box in her pocket and gave her a warm smile and for some reason, she gave one back. I was about to leave when Tatia spoke.

"Jamie, there is a way to see my life. Through your visions. You have an amazing ability Jamie so use it to your advantage. So do you want to see a flashback of my life?" She asked.

"Yes, I do," I replied.

Tatia told me how to use my powers a little better and well I found out some important things. I went behind her and put my fingertips on both sides of her forehead. Then I let her in and I was washed with the memories of Tatia Cerise.

From seeing her parents killing villages all over the world, Tatia crying on the floor of her room, getting bullied in school, her parents burning the orphanage with the screams of humans from inside, Tatia yelling and screaming at her parents about the slaughtering which resulted in her getting thrown on the streets and learning to survive, killing her parents and her starting with ALIRON. After what felt like an eternity of painful memories, I pushed myself away. Breathing heavily, my heart raced rapidly. What kind of life was this??

"It's melancholic isn't it Jamie? How am I supposed to go against a society that helped me live? I'm so sorry Jamie," she wept.

"Tatia, I completely understand, ok? Thank you for letting me understand" I replied.

With that, I went back to the couch and slept a dreamless nap.
