Prologue

It all began the second the year 2000 started. Portals all across the world started to appear. Monsters from fairy tales like imps and goblins were in these portals known as 'dungeons'. Each dungeon layout was similar to each other in the fact that they were all cave-like. Some were bigger and longer than others and some contained monsters more stronger than others.

Around the same time these dungeons appeared, people with supernatural powers called 'Ability' started to awaken. Thus these people were called the 'Awakened Ones'. These abilities granted humans powers beyond that of a regular person and the ability to fight within these dungeons' monsters.

Humanity had found that although they couldn't find the source of where these dungeons came from, they did find that the dungeons provided unique and mystical rocks and minerals used to make weapons like swords and armors. Technological advancement skyrocketed and everyone considered these dungeons a strange yet blessed occurrence.

Governments all across the planet decided that they needed an organized force to extract and sell these resources to them and thus privately owned guilds were born. Guilds were companies solely focused on clearing these dungeons of their monsters and resources as once all the monsters within the dungeon were dead, the portals would disappear. Guilds were erected all across the world.

Guilds created the occupation known as 'Hunters' that hired Awakened Ones to clear the dungeons and 10% of all earnings from dungeons went straight to their governments should the resources from the dungeons were sold.

All was going well until three months after the appearance of dungeons, the first 'dungeon break' occurred. Unleashing all the monsters from the dungeons into the world killing hundreds if not thousands.

People discovered that the three months was something like a grace period and after this period, if dungeons weren't cleared within 14 days, they would break and unleash monsters onto the world.
