The Hunter's Mate

I grew older knowing supernatural creatures. For example, I could tell a vampire if I see one. It was strange that I was more powerful than any of them. At first, I thought I was one of them but the more I studied about them, the more it gave me reasons to doubt that I was like them. I gave up trying to find the race I belonged to, so I went about my daily life living like humans. But my world began to crumble when I found my mate. He is a warlock of the witch's coven and one of the mermaid hunters. Through him, I started to find who I really am and my purpose on earth.

Chapter 59: War between i and mom.

I stood before him as he looked down on me, his wonderful smell almost clouding me into imagination. It made me forget what he did to me. I searched for his soul, I wanted it to connect to me. But it couldn't be reached, Stefan was blank. The only thing that made him Stefan was his beautiful grey eyes.

"We'll meet some other time, okay. Right now, I have to go." He said immediately and walked out of the toilet. I turned back to the mirror in anger. I bit my lips and thought of something, could it be he lost his memory?. He could not recognize Molly and me. Does it mean he lost the memories he had of me?.

I walked back to the bar and looked in the direction they sat previously but couldn't find them. They left.

"We have to go now. I can smell vampires." Ava told me. I nodded and followed her out.

We walked back to our car and were about to get in but stopped when I saw the flat tyres. I look at Ava, "Our car has been punctured. What do we do?." I asked. She breathed out and shook her head.

"Well then, we have to run." Ava said and sped off and I ran after her. We ran through the cemented road in the streets, and we stopped when we had three blood sucking vampires in front of us.

All in black, they snarled, looking more deadly. They started walking toward us and I and Ava started going backwards. We stopped again and I turned, and found another three vampires at our back coming towards us. I look at Ava, "What do we do?."

She pulled up her sleeves and stood in a fighting stance. "We kick their asses." I rolled my eyes, "Are you kidding me?, and fought with six of them. Holy shit!!." I cussed out as my eyes landed on one with bared fangs. That scared the shit out of me. I'm not sure we're going to survive this.

I was shocked when one flew away into the air, another guy screamed and fell down holding on to his neck. It was as if life was choking out of him. Another was flown toward the stall nearby and we heard scratching of glasses. I looked at Ava, "It's not me." She said, obviously surprised at what was going on.

We turned to the other three and they weren't standing any more, they'd gone. "Let's go before they come back to finish us off." I said, trying to run, "Not so soon." I heard my mom's voice say and my heart flew. I turned to see as Ava went on her knees instantly while I looked up at my mom with three other witches.

"I can explain." I said, pleadingly.

We were dragged out of the car by some guards and taken into the mansion. Mom was walking before us but stopped and turned with raging eyes. Ava was shaking visibly, and everyone gathered around to see what was going on.

"You dare disobey me. How dare you float my orders?." Her raised voice surprised me. Mom was usually calm in this kind of situation. Ava knelt down and clasped her hand together, "I'm sorry, princess."

"I'm sorry, princess. But what did she do?." Mrs Maggret asked with a shaking voice. Panic all over her face. I swallowed and thought of a way to make sure mom doesn't hurt her as she did with my mate.

"If not for my earlier intervention, I would say the chosen one could be captured by the vampires." She replied to her and everyone around gasped. "Such a grievous act. She has to be punished right away." Julia said, pointing at Ava on the floor.

"Why?." I was forced to speak and everyone's eyes landed on me. I looked at Julia with so much hatred and stepped forward, she withdrew back and I looked at mom. "Why does she get punished?." I asked, referring to mom.

"Elena, stay out of this." Mom said.

"Why?. It has something to do with me." I told her. "She committed crimes and had to follow the rules." Julia said, behind mom. I scoffed..

"Oh now. We go by the rules. Perfect. Why didn't she get punished too?." I asked mom looking at Julia, "And me. I committed a crime too, right?. Why does she get all the punishments?." I yelled the last part with tears almost rolling down my cheeks. To think mom had always taught us how to treat people equally.

"I did nothing. I obeyed mom, did as she said, not you...who's always thinking of getting away if you do something bad."

"Are you sure?." I asked her. She was confused, "Am I sure of what?." She asked.

"Are you sure you are without crimes?." I questioned again. She looked down and didn't utter a word. "Why don't you hear, Elena?. Why can't you listen to me always?. I do this for your wellbeing. I always try to see you're raised up into the woman your mother wanted but I do not think you need my help anymore. Since you think you can fend for yourself now, do what pleases you." Mom said, turned and walked upstairs. I was surprised to see mom talk this way in front of people.

I could see sadness through her, my heart broke into pieces when I found her that way. "You're horrible." Julia turned to leave and I grabbed her arm and turned her over with a deadly look.

"The things you did to me, I know them." Her eyes grew wide, "You've always thought I was the special daughter right?. Now listen, if you hurt my friends and any one in the clan again, I'll deal with you and you won't see it coming." I warned strictly. "Are you threatening me, Elena?." She asked with a scorn. I smiled evilly.

"Why don't you try to see what I can do to you?." I released her, she turned and started running upstairs. I looked back at the maids and others watching me. I walked over to Ava and let her stand up to her feets. "You saved me." She muttered and hugged me. I smiled and patted her back.

"What are friends for?." I whispered into her ear and she tightened the hug. "Okay, you're choking me." I whispered and she let go of me. I turned to Madam Maggret. "I'm sorry for putting your daughter in danger."

"It's fine, angel. But you know who you should apologize to." She mumbled and walked away, I turned and looked up the stairs.
