The young woman's powerful attack repelled the rising fire as the insect clawed its teeth into her shoulder with fury.
Two more creatures appeared to attack the girl, who was still trying to stop the flames from the trap and was clenching her teeth hard from the pain of the bite.
But before they could reach her, they were pierced by huge spears that ended their lives immediately.
At the same time, the one who bit Skyler was beheaded without the slightest difficulty by Malcom.
He then grabbed the young woman by the shirt to get her out of the way of the flames to land and jump out of the air until falling into the other entrance.
Being in the other entrance, Malcom removed the head of the insect that was still attached to Skyler with care, the young woman breathed with difficulty, and her hands trembled as she watched the chamber go up in flames when the corpses of those monsters fell to the ground.
"Gross!" Skyler shouted with disgust, before she set the head of the insect that had attacked her on fire, "Damn disgusting cockroaches!"
Malcom saw her dismayed and smilingly took one of his cards and made a huge wooden drawer appear where he took a green vial and sprayed it on the young woman's wound.
"Take this," the young man said, offering her a bottle with a transparent liquid that Skyler looked at with suspicion.
Malcom resisted the urge to roll his eyes due to her action.
"Come on. It is an antidote to the Crusher's poison. You need to take it," he said with fake seriousness.
The girl took the bottle, took a good drink, and she said when she finished, "I hate those damn Bugs. I hate them, with all my might."
Malcom smirked, but still continued to check the girl's wound. "Have you already seen them before?" He asked curiously.
"Yes," Skyler nodded, who continued to shake off the mucus, "They attacked my grandfather's cattle, they are disgusting, and they become invisible. I didn't know they were venomous but that only makes them more repulsive. Gross!"
Malcom, who was turning the wooden box into a card again, said, "It is not strange that they are in this place. There must be many more."
The young woman walked two steps and staring at the end of the new hall where they were, she said, "Back off!"
She squeezed her wrists tightly to eliminate a tremor, and then using her index finger lit on fire, she drew a circle in the air.
Malcom watched with curiosity while the circle of the fire remained in the place where the young woman had drawn it.
She took a deep breath and calmly placed her hands inside the circle and lighting them with force made the circle grow so much that it covered the entire space of the corridor where they were, and then with a palm, she pressed the huge circle a little until it began to move slowly down the hall.
The young woman took a deep breath once more and opening her eyes she lit both hands-on fire and hitting the circle she had created sharply.
She shot out, incinerating all the Crushers that were stationed along the corridor to the other end of it.
Massive numbers of Crushers fell to the ground, writhing until their bodies turned to ash and making terrifying sounds as victims of the fire succumbed.
Malcom, with his mouth open, watched as all the creatures began to turn to ashes from Skyler's powerful attack.
She watched him smiling and held her hands delicately when the young man saw her, he said, "Do you know that I extract poison from these creatures? It sells well."
"Not today!" The young woman firmly told him a with warning glare, while she held her hands, "I hate the damn insects!"
Malcom watched as Skyler was holding her hands.
He released a deep sigh, before he approached her, "Show me."
The doubtful girl extended her hands towards him.
Just as she did that, Malcom took a card, which made a small white bottle appear. "In the real world, the impact is stronger when you make such strong attacks, right?"
"I've never used Twin Suns in the real world. At least not with that power," Skyler said while the Marked one poured the white liquid on her hands, cooling them and eliminating the burning and tremors.
Skyler observed the magical result of that water and asked, "What the hell is that?"
"Spiritual sap," Malcom replied, taking the hands of Skyler, "It is sap that some natural spirits can create or reestablish magical bonds. They are used a lot to repair magical treasures, but they also work on wounds like that."
"And where did you get this from?" Skyler asked curiously. She was impressed as well as intrigued.
"I know a couple of great shamans."
The surprised young woman looked at Malcom, who continued to rub the water delicately.
"I don't understand how your cards work…" She muttered softly.
Malcom hummed, "Well, as I am a Marked, I cannot use more than twenty percent of my magic. So if I create things that require the maximum magic, then I am left with nothing."
"I understand that, but what do the cards do?" Skyler found the idea interesting. If she could do the same as well in the future won't that benefit her as well?
"I just create different things well in advance that I store on cards, and then I can use them with a minuscule amount of power," Malcom explained.
"I get that. But you create really strange things." Since the time she had lost the match, Skyler had watched his other matches. In truth, the magic that Materializes looked interesting in her eyes.
"Yes!" Malcom smiled, "You have to be creative if you do what I do."
"I always believed that materializer could not create living things," Skyler commented while staring at Malcom's eyes seriously.
"We can't," he answered casually.
"But in our fight, you created clones of yourself," She assured with confusion.
"Those are only active dolls with excessive details to make them look like me, and it allows me to confuse the opponent."
"And when you created fire or ice to attack me. That you shouldn't be able to do," Skyler commented. She still remembered his attack with ice. It was one of the most baffling parts of their fight.
"No, I didn't make those spells," Malcom said, smiling at the girl's curiosity. He continued, "Some of my friends use their spells and allow me to store them for later use. My cards are just like portals. I can create that."
The young woman was silent for a moment, she started at Malcom, "So your cards also function as portals?"
"Not exactly," Malcom shrugged his shoulders, "I just store things in them. They are not designed to contain anything."
"And can you put people in them?" Skyler asked with a smile.
"I don't know," Malcom answered truthfully, "I've never tried. But I don't think it will work. The seal of the cards is extremely weak. Applying the correct amount of magic could easily break it."
"That means I could activate your cards."
"Yes, the seals are placed by me, but the card is made by an artisan," Malcom retorted.
He wasn't that used to talking about himself, but something in Skyler makes him continue, "But you must know the exact amount of power I use to seal them, if not, you can't break the seal, but the spell won't come out. If you use more, it is useless. If you use less, the seal doesn't break."
