Malcom let out a resigned sigh before he said seriously, "Even if I wanted to run away, they would catch me! Not even that I can do well!"

Ezequiel looked at him. He shook his head before he sighed over the boy's situation.

"Take this brat! This will help you with that," he said with a complicated expression.

Just as he said that, Ezequiel threw a box towards him swiftly.

Malcom caught it short with difficulty. When he opened it, he found two straps.

The straps were small and clearly did not go around his waist. They had a small wind craft on them when Ezequiel said, "Its name is Alas. Put it on your shoes and enjoy! It's a top-notch magical treasure brat."

He released a helpless sigh, "Tsk. This is more than you deserve, but you know I feel sorry for you."

Malcom looked at him reproachfully, but a small smile appeared on his face. Ezequiel saw it. His eyes widened in mock surprise before pointing at him.

"You smiled!! Jason seriously destroyed your brain!" Ezequiel blurted out with fake excitement.

The smile on Malcom's face disappeared as he tied the straps to his shoes, and they were got integrated into them, adding the symbol of the wings.

Malcom felt strange energy running through his body when he said with a huge disappointment, "Zeq if this uses magic, it's not useful to me!"

Ezequiel looked at him in wonder when he said, "That is the best part! The energy that powers Alas is non-magical. It is powered by physical energy, and you have that. So it does work for you."

Malcom opened his eyes in surprise and, getting up, gave a little jump, and this took him to the ceiling, crashing his head against it.

When he landed, the pain made him let out a scream while Ezequiel laughed even more.

Malcom glared at him but then said gratefully, "Thank you, Zeq!"

The smiling man nodded, "Don't thank me. They are not free. Tomorrow we will have another expedition!"

"Are you seriously letting me go with you again?" Malcom asked happily. His eyes widened in disbelief.

Ezekiel nodded and then said, "Yes! My daughter does not want to go! And it's a tough job, so I need an extra pair of hands! But I must ask your mom, and it will be all weekend!"

"Cool! Don't worry about my mom! She will say yes as long as you go with me!" Malcom excitedly said. He then looked at Ezequiel mischievously before asking, "Will we go 50 50 this time?"

Ezequiel smirked and then asked, "What are you talking about? You're wearing your salary on your feet!"

Malcom threw a punch that he stopped instantly.

For the first time, looking at Malcom seriously, Ezequiel said, "I know your position bothers you! And I know abusive people like Jason are abound. But you can't keep opposing them. You are going to get very hurt, Malcom! One day you will be out of luck!"

Malcom sat down on the gurney again and then responded, "I am not going to let anyone think they are better than me just because they have more power! I'm not going to run away from any abuse!"

"Sometimes running away is the only option, kid!" Ezequiel said after releasing a sigh. He then sat in his chair and looked at the young man.

Malcom looked at him with eyes full of bitterness when he said, "Only cowards run away like my father! He took off when I was chosen to wear this damn Mark! I will not be the same. My mother stayed and fought adversity for me. And I will always fight against all adversity. I will not withdraw!"

"That is admirable! I bet your mother will be proud when you get killed in high school for being too brave to run away!" Ezequiel praised.

Malcom looked at him cynically. Ezequiel continued, "You are too smart not to recognize between a tactical retreat and cowardice! Don't let your anger blind you! You are better than that!"

Malcom looked at his shoes and listened to what Ezequiel said, nodding.

"Now get out of here! I have work to do, and you have classes!" The doctor said.

Malcom walked to the door and looking at Ezequiel, and he said, "Zeq! You know what?! You are a good guy! There are not many people like you!"

And with those words, Malcom left the office.

Malcom left classes in the afternoon. That was undoubtedly the most difficult moment of the day for the marked ones.

Having to deal with classmates throughout the day was difficult, but it was the moment when classes ended that everyone had to converge in the same place.

Malcom went out trying to avoid conflicts, but being the one who did not run attracted everyone's attention, but that day the person who was waiting for him was different.

As he walked out the front door, Nora was leaning on a column calmly. When she left it, she saw him and raised her hand.

"Hello, Malcom!" She greeted.

Malcom smiled when he saw her and walking towards her he thought about how beautiful she looked, he didn't have too many friends, and that a person would wait for him for something different than fighting was a new sensation for him.

Approaching slowly, he looked at the girl when suddenly she felt a pull and saw how her backpack was snatched from her back.

She, unable to bear the impulse, fell to the ground while her backpack was in the hands of Jason, who smiled at her fall.

Malcom got to where she was and helping her to get up, and he asked, "Are you okay?"

She got up, cleaned her clothes, and then softly said, "Please don't fight!"

Malcom looked her directly in the eyes. In them, she reflected a clear fear. Seeing how they had beaten him in the morning made her think that perhaps another of those brutal beatings would end in a worse way.

However, Malcom looked at Jason, felt like his anger was running up his spine.

"Why do you have to be such an idiot?" Malcom asked after he stood up with determination.

Jason opened his eyes in surprise, and staring at Malcolm, asked coldly, "What did you say?"

Malcom, full of anger and frustration, walked towards him when he asked with a taunting grin, "Do you have to be such an idiot all the time?"

Just as he said that he pointed to Nora then added, "What the hell did she do to you? What do you want to prove? That you are stronger than us? Yes, you are, and what about that?"
