Chapter 1 Divide the Property

In New York City, in front of the KFC delivery window at the first floor of Empire State Building. It was a high temperature of more than 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Many people were queuing up to buy ice cream.

A sweet and lovely girl about four or five years old held the thighs of a man in flip-flops and big checked trousers and said coquettishly, "Dad, I want to eat ice cream."

The man stroked the girl's little head and said, "Good girl, you'll get fat if you eat too much ice cream. I'll make it for you myself when I get home!"

"No! I want to eat KFC ice cream. You haven't bought me one for a long time."

The man seemed to have made up his mind to buy an ice cream for his daughter. But he only found two dollars after rummaging through all his pockets. These two dollars were the money for Charles to take a bus back home. Besides, an ice cream costs five dollars, which he can not afford.

Charles put the money back into his pocket and persuaded his daughter in a soft voice, "Betty, I don't have enough money with me. When Mom comes out of the court later, let her buy it for you, okay?"

"Okay!" The little girl's eyes flashed with expectation. Then she asked in a childish voice, "Dad, our big house has been sold. When can we move back to the big house?"

"Soon! When dad finds a job, I will soon earn money and buy a big house."

As soon as Charles finished his words, he saw an old woman in her early fifties with short styled hair standing behind him, and a tall and beautiful woman in an OL lady business suit with delicate features standing next to her. The old woman roared, "Rosemary, have you seen it? Charles can't afford the ice-cream that his daughter asked for. What are you going to do with such a loser like him? Your company going bankrupt, your car and house being sold, this loser is still living in your house, eating your food and wearing the clothes you bought him. When the hell will he stop being a loser like that?"

"Mom, why did you say that in front of the kid?" Rosemary was in a bad mood with an unhappy look on her face.

"If you divorce this guy, I will give you eight hundred thousand dollars to pay debts. Otherwise, don't call me mom!"

With an aggrieved look on her face, Rosemary said, "When my grandfather arranged the marriage, you and my father acquiesced in the marriage. Now the child has grown up, what can I do?"

"Your grandpa was dead, wasn't he? My daughter is so gorgeous, how could she lack suitors? If you divorce now, there will be several rich young men waiting in line to marry you."

"Mom, Charles is going out to look for a job. He will change. I trust him."

Rosemary's mother snorted and said, "If you don't divorce Charles, you'll go to jail! Daniel, let's go!"

Rosemary's father, Daniel was henpecked. He sighed and left with his wife.

Rosemary squatted on the ground, covering her face and crying.

Charles walked to her with the little girl in his arms and comforted her softly, "Rose, don't cry. There are so many people watching us. Let's go home!"

"Home? Do we still have a home?" She raised her pretty face with tears and said slowly.

"Although the rental house is a little small, as long as we are together, home can be everywhere."

Rosemary wiped the tears on her cheeks and said to Charles, "You go home with Betty first. I'll borrow money from others."

Charles handed the child to Rosemary and said, "you have borrowed all the people you should borrow, and now we even sold the house and car. Just like what your mother said, if you can't pay eight hundred thousand dollars to Courtney, you will be in jail. I'd better borrow money from my friend."

"You?"

Hearing Charles's words, Rosemary seemed to have heard a ridiculous joke. She sneered at Charles and said, "Who is the friend you are talking? Oh, I must have forgotten Dave. You hang out with him a lot. But how can he lend you money, since he is only a low-class hard labor on the street?"

"I will find a way to borrow money!"

Ignoring Rosemary's sarcasm, Charles walked away in flip-flops.

Rosemary's strength seemed to have been drained. She held her daughter and cried sadly.

She worked like a man for her family. But her husband didn't care about it at all. If it weren't for Rosemary 's grandfather, who insisted on letting the poor Charles come to her house and marry her. With her beauty, Rosemary had been able to marry into a rich family and live a luxurious life envied by everyone.

Until now, Rosemary still couldn't understand her deceased grandfather’s intention.

"Mom, stop crying, okay?"

Rosemary held little Betty tightly in her arms and said slowly, "It's all my fault. The company went bankrupt and our big house was lost. Betty, I'm sorry."

Betty wiped the tears on Rosemary's cheeks and comforted her, "Mom, don't be sad. I don't want to live in a big house. I just want to be with dad and mom. Besides, dad said he would work hard to make money and let us live in a big house again."

Rosemary was slightly stunned and thought, "if that loser can be trusted, how can she end up like this?"

Rosemary opened a packaging design company. When her business was good, Charles naturally lived a sumptuous and carefree life. But now, her company was suddenly sued for trademark infringement. Those old clients who cooperated with her also terminated the contract with her company one by one. They sold their house and car, but still they don’t have enough money to pay off their debts. In the end, there was still eight hundred thousand of debts left.

Charles walked a few streets and found a quiet place to sit down.

He, took a deep breath and took out his phone, lost in a daze .

He lit a cigarette and thought for a long time.

After a long time, he seemed to have made a big decision. He murmured to himself, "No! I can't let Rosemary and Betty be wronged!"

After saying that, Charles threw away the cigarette butt, stepped hard on it and dialed a number that he hadn't dialed for a long time.

"Uncle Miller, I'm Charles."

"Oh, you finally have a kind conscience to call me?" Bob Miller said with a smile.

"Tell my father that I want to divide the property and take back what I deserve."

Hearing this, Bob Miller was shocked. After a while, he said, "Young Master, you've made up your mind? If you split up, it means you will completely lose the inheritance rights. In this way, your brothers will take advantages from it!"

"I've made up my mind!" Charles answered without hesitation..

"Come to my house now. I will report this to Master and let the accountant calculate the benefits you deserve as soon as possible."

"Thank you, Uncle Miller!"

After hanging up the phone, Bob Miller immediately dialed a number and reported to the person on the phone, "Master, Young Master Charles is going to divide the property."

After a long silence, the person on the other end of the phone said, "Bob, give him the property as well as his mother's. Alas! I am indebted to them badly in my life."

"Don't you think Charles is the most promising one and want him to inherit the family business?"

"This is also a kind of protection and training for him. I won't go wrong! By the way, in addition to the money, give him all the family's properties in the three states in the East. I will ask Lily to confirm it in ten minutes."

"Yes, Master!"

When he was about to hang up the phone, he heard Master saying, "Bob, help Charles as much as you did for me!"

"Don't worry, Master!"

More than twenty minutes later, Charles appeared in a magnificent villa.

The owner of the villa was Bob Miller, the well-known richest man in New York City.

In Bob Miller's room, he handed a stack of materials to Charles. "Young Master, Master has agreed to your request of splitting the property. This is the Group shares you and your mother deserve. You two hold eleven point five percent of the group shares in total. Master said he would give you in the way of money and industries. In addition to all the industries in the three states, he should also give you 10,087,658,626.52."

Charles looked through the financial statements and found that they were difficult to understand. He threw the documents on the table and said to Bob Miller, "Uncle Miller, I read them. Help me with the handover as soon as possible. Rosemary and the child are still waiting for me at home."

"Then you just need to sign these documents! Young Master, think it over. Once you sign them, it means that you have nothing to do with the Lexington Group in the future."

Charles took the documents from Bob Miller and signed his name on them. He said to Bob Miller, "I, Charles, don't want to inherit the family property. I just wanted my mother to survive!"

He sighed and said, "Young Master, it's been so many years. Why can't you let it go?"

"Uncle Miller, that's my mother! I saw her die in front of me, and my father, he was having sex with those bitches. Do you think I should forgive him? Sorry, I can't!"

"But he is your father after all!"

"What about my mother?" Charles asked Bob Miller in reply with an displeasured look on his face.

He shook his head. As the saying went, even a judge in the court can’t judge a simple family conflict. He was wondering if Charles would forgive his father in the end.

"By the way, how are you and Daniel's girl doing now?" Bob Miller changed the topic and asked Charles.

Charles frowned and said, "Rosemary's company is in trouble. I suspect that someone has done something bad to her company. Uncle Miller, help me check it."

"Young Master, if you have any problem in the future, just tell me. Now the whole industries in the three states in the East is yours. I am out of the Group and will only work for you."

"Uncle Miller, I won't treat you bad!"

Bob smiled and said, "I have earned enough money. I want to see you back on your feet."

"Uncle Miller, transfer one hundred million dollars to my bank account first, and then fill this bag with one million dollars in cash. The rest of the money will be left to you to help keep the company’s operation. I won't let you down." Then he turned around and left Bob Miller's villa.

After Charles left, Bob Miller called Albert, Charles’s father again.

"Master, Young Master has signed the documents."

"What did he say?"

"Charles still holds grudges against his mother’s death..."

"Alas!" Albert sighed and said, "Bob, if I am controlled by those people one day, you should tell the truth to Charles."

"Master, you're not going to have a showdown with them, are you?"

"This is my own business. Just do what I told."
