The Truth

After the mating ceremony was over, Ava spoke to her father and her father told her that her sister couldn't come because she suddenly fell ill and Ava thought it must be because of the pregnancy.

"What about mother?" she asked

"She wanted to take care of Elizabeth"

"You are making up excuses for her, there are maids in the palace for a reason" Ava said angrily.

"Ava, Queen Rosaline is her mother, perhaps she wanted to take care of her daughter by herself"

"Am I not her daughter as well, when as she ever taken care of me" Guilt flash at King Ford eyes as he heard his daughter words. Ava saw the guilt in her father's eyes and decided to drop the issue. She does not want her father to blame himself for her mother's actions.

"I am glad you are here. I will miss you a lot" Ava said with tears in her eyes as she hugged her father.

"Whenever you miss me you can always visit me, my princess"

"You can stay for the night, it is late already" Logan said as he walked closer to Ava and her father.

"Well, I guess I will take you up on your offer" King Ford said with a smile.

Logan turned to Ava and said to her "Ava, go with Hilda, I have something to talk about with your father" Ava looked at her father and King Ford just nodded at her and then she left with Hilda.

Logan sat in his office and stared at King Ford and after much silence he said impatiently "I am already married to Ava, so I think I deserve to know who is the 'her' I should protect my wife from."

"Queen Rosaline" King Ford said with a distant look in his eyes.

"Why should I protect my wife from her mother?" Logan asked confusedly

"The truth is Rosaline is not Ava biological mother."

"Even though Rosaline is not Ava true mother, what danger does she pose for my wife?"

"Let me tell you a story Logan. Twenty five years ago before I married Rosaline, I was in love with a woman named Karina, she was very beautiful infact I fell in love with her at first sight. I met her when I was coming back from my visit to another kingdom. On my back to Aldia, I was ambush and lost consciousness. When I came to be, I found myself in an unfamiliar place, my injuries were healed. Then a beautiful lady came to check on me and ask me with the most prettiest voice, if I was alright. I told her I was fine, and asked her where I was and she told me, I was in the flame village and then with a bright smile on her face she introduced herself to me as Karina, the head of the Phoenix Clan."

"Hold on a minute, the Phoenix Clan, weren't they extinct and apart from that, you are telling me that Ava mother was a not an ordinary human?" Logan asked with shocked written all over his face at this revelation.

"No. Karina wasn't really a human. As the head of the Phoenix Clan she could control fire and she was the only one in her clan that could healed. She invited me for a festival the clan was having that night and I accepted her invitation. On the night of the festival I was introduced to the people in her clan, and then I realized Karina was different, apart from being the head of the Phoenix, she was also the only one who had red eyes. Those eyes were so beautiful that anytime I looked at them I felt I was going to get burned by it.

The Phoenix Clan were nice and they treated me as one of them and to be honest I didn't want to go back to the palace knowing that I have a lot of responsibilities waiting for me. Karina and I fell in love with each other and we were happy together. She convince me to returned back to the palace and I agree but not without promising her that I would return and we would both get married."

"Then how did you end up marrying Rosaline?" Logan asked.

"It happened when I returned back to the castle. When I returned, the council wanted me to get married to the eldest daughter of the Wilson family but I refuse, I told them there's someone I would like to get married to. I thought telling them how Karina saved me would help, but it was as if a spell was cast on them, they thoroughly refused my marriage to Karina and continuously pushed my marriage with the Wilson daughter."

"But you are the King, you can get married to whoever you want. Why would a King care about what the council wants?" Logan said incredulous look.

"The kingdom of Aldia was in a tight position at that time. Infact we were in war with another kingdom, and the soldiers we had were not enough. The Wilson family had their own trained men and they only agree to release those men to battle if I married their daughter"

"Was Queen Rosaline their eldest daughter?"

"No, she was not. The eldest daughter of the Wilson family is named Serefina." At the mention of Serefina, Logan stiffened. He felt suffocated at the mention of that woman name. King Ford noticed Logan expression at the mention of Serefina and couldn't help but ask "Do you know her?"

"How can I forget the name of the woman who ruined my family, it is because of Serefina, the Crystal pack lost a good Alpha. I don't even want to talk about it. Continue" Logan said.

"I was supposed to get married to Serefina but Serefina was not the daughter of Fred Wilson. Serefina mother got married to Fred Wilson when Serefina was nine years old and Rosaline was 5 years old. Fred Wilson wanted is biological daughter to be crown Queen and that is why I got married to Rosaline instead of Serefina"

"What about you and Karina?" Logan asked.

"Karina was heart broken and she said she never wanted to see me. When I got married to Serefina, the Wilson family gave me the necessary men I needed to defeat the other kingdom. A year into our marriage Rosaline got pregnant and I knew I wasn't responsible for the pregnancy because ever since we got married I have never slept with her. later I found out that Rosaline was having an affair with a man named Stefan, he was her childhood friend and I didn't really blame her, because after getting married to Rosaline, I couldn't bring myself to love her. I have always only loved Karina. Rosalie begged me to accept her child, she said she was no longer seeing Stefan. I felt pity for her, I also felt it was my fault because I haven't loved her so I agreed and that was how Elizabeth became my first daughter. Rosaline said she would remain faithful to me and that her affair with Stefan was just a moment of weakness and of course I believe her. Two years later, I met Karina again and it was as if she became more beautiful than before and I knew it was wrong but I spent the night with her. It was the first time in my life I felt whole, that night I spent with Karina meant a lot to me but the both of us knew we just needed that final closure. 10 months later, Queen Rosaline came to me with a child and said she found the child abandon on the streets on her way home and she felt sorry for her, then she suggested that we should keep the child and to be honest with you the first time I saw that little baby girl I felt connected to her, I agreed and named her Ava Isabella Braun.

For three years I thought Ava was just a child Rosaline found on the street until I received a letter from a mysterious man. In the letter, he told me how Karina got pregnant, but she refused to say who the father of her child was and how a woman came into their clan and took Karina child from her."

"How is that possible? Karina was the head of Phoenix clan, how could anyone just take her child from her?" Logan asked angrily.

"She was weak, she has just gone through delivery when Serefina came and took her baby from her"

"Serefina?"

"Yes Serefina. Serefina used her magic to weaken the Phoenix Clan, their food and water that they have been eating and drinking for the past one month were poison for that particular day so that they would not be able to fight for themselves. Serefina gave Rosaline that child and she was cruel enough to look me in the eyes and tell me that she found Ava on the street."

"What happened to the Phoenix Clan?" Logan asked calmly but only him knew the storm that was brewing within him.

"When I read that letter I confronted Rosaline and she admitted everything, she said she couldn't bear to see me love someone else and it is because she loved me so much that she bought Ava with her. It was then I realized that Queen Rosaline was crazy. I went to the village to find Karina but when I got there, they were dead, but I couldn't find Karina."

"So, there is a possibility that Ava mother is still alive?" Logan said with a little hope.

"Yes, and I know one day I will find her"

King Ford said with a determine look in his eyes.

"So who am protecting Ava from? is it from Queen Rosaline or from Serefina?"

"From both, Queen Rosaline wants Elizabeth husband to become the next king of Aldia so that her daughter will be crown Queen but as for Serefina, I don't really know what her plans is but I know she is dangerous. There are sometimes when Rosaline behaves like a good mother to Ava and other times she can't even hide the hatred she has for Ava."

"I will protect Ava and if Ava mother is still alive I will find her and reunite her with her daughter. Thank you so much for telling me this" Logan said.

"It is my duty to protect my daughter and now that you are her husband it is now your duty, so you deserve to know this and oh, before I forget Rosaline real name is Emila"

"Emilia? why did she changed her name"

"She didn't, the real Rosaline fell ill and pass away a month before the wedding. Fred Wilson was greedy and he wanted to be related to the Royal family, so he found someone who looked exactly like his daughter and before I found out the truth, it was already too late." Logan was once again shocked by this news but in his heart he was ready to rip apart anyone who would harm his Ava.

Logan came into his room and saw Ava asleep, he wondered how Ava would feel once he told her the truth, he didn't want Ava to ever feel sad or hurt. Logan took a shower and climb into the bed, and that night he hugged Ava to sleeping. To Logan, this night would have been the best night of his life if he didn't learn so much things about Ava and her being in danger.
