Chapter 89: The Burning Ceremony

Mei was right, the atmosphere was really somber when the other Alphas arrived and brought Horatia’s body. I didn’t know her so well, but the times we spent together, she was always supportive to Ro’s cause and also in favor of putting Gregory in his place.
As planned, I put on my simple black dress and went downstairs to meet with the others. Mei was wearing a pale blue dress, Solange was wearing a gray one and Deidre had a mauve dress. All men were also wearing dark tone or pale colors, Dante had to wear one lent by Xavier and I thought the gesture was sweet.
I followed quietly as the men carried Horatia’s body to one of the rooms, and left it there for us. This was all new to me, so I had to mostly watch. Mei and Solange dressed her in a white silky dress.
“We put her on new garments, a new dress for a new life,” said Mei.
“And we chose white, because of her pure intentions,” added Solange.
