Chapter 29: Confessions Part 2

Of course, my heart beats faster at his words; I didn’t doubt it when he told me he cared for me before, and when he said he wanted me at his side, I also believed it. But back then, I would have never imagined he was my soulmate, and that I had him in my future. He said it before, but I thought it was just in the heat of the moment. Now, to hear him confess he had always loved me makes my heart swell, and makes me want to cry. So much time lost!

He watches the tears fall from my eyes, tears that I fought hard to contain but couldn’t. I am angry with whoever split us apart.

“Do you feel the anguish I feel?” he asks me as he sees my reaction.

I can’t help but nod, and at this, he quickly comes to sit next to me; I turn myself to face him better and he gives me a sad smile. “Then it all started to work in my mind, and as if I needed another push, Gabrielle got murdered and my world fell apart,” he says as his hands turn into a fist.
