Chapter 19

Prince Clyde's sharp gaze landed on a hell hound that seemed to be larger than the others. Slicing his way through the mound of beasts that struggled to go against him he began making his way towards the beast. Howling out at the night sky above the massive hell hound stood behind the others while they fought to guard it. He could only assume it was the beast behind the attack the large number of beasts were making on the wall.

"I guess you're the one I'm looking for." Demon Prince Clyde's smile brightened up with a smile as he thought of sending the beast straight to it's grave.

Bending his knees slightly his body shot forward. Slicing through every beast that got in his way with the sword his focus was on taking down the largest one among them. He could feel the blade dulling from all the hell hounds he'd taken out with it so he knew he had to speed up his pace. Behind him he could hear the others fighting their hardest to fend all of the ones off that he could not manage to take out. Sweat dripped down his face as he could feel himself being worn down the longer he fought.

Ooooo! Ooo!

The beasts cried out as several of them tried to jump on him at once. One hell hound landed on his back from behind as it's sharp fangs sunk into his flesh causing his blood to splatter all over his clothing. He could hear the sounds of the fabric shredding that he knew he'd have to tend to later so that Gunner would not worry for him. A look of death in his eyes as his eyes turned to glare at the beast that had hold of him with it's sharp fangs.

"Heh! I bite back." Prince Clyde laughed as he realized he was saying something that he knew Gunner would probably have said in his position to ruin the mood. For a split second he felt as if he had been tainted by the way the man spoke around him.

His sharp fangs bared he turned his head and sunk his fangs into the foul tasting hell hound ripped it's flesh clean open on his neck at the vital point causing the beast to release it's hold and fall to the ground. Struggling to breath the hell hound bled out almost instantly as soon as it landed on the ground. The flesh and blood that had gotten in his mouth from what he'd done to it he spat out onto the ground.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

The massive hell hound among the pack began to step towards him as the others parted way for it. Smiling at the hell hound in front of him he could tell it was determined to take him on itself. It did not bother him in the least because it only meant that he could end things quicker. At full speed the massive beast ran for him with it's fangs bared while Prince Clyde returned the same motion by baring his as he tossed the sword at another hell hound. The beast that the sword struck dropped dead on the impact as it pierced straight through it's chest.

Preparing his body for the impact the beast slammed against his chest. It's fangs tried to clamp down on him while he caught the bite with his bare hands. He could feel the hell hound trying to close it's mouth while he did the exact opposite and began to force it's jaw wider and wider until it began to make snapping noises. Slowly the beast began to lift upward from his grasp as he hoisted the beast up and slammed it into the ground on it's back. It's body twitched and struggled to gain it's strength back to return to a standing position in front of Clyde.

Tightening his fist to the point that his knuckles were going white he lunged for the hell hound and sent it flying with a rough punch to the chest. He could see blood splatter from the beast's jaw as it flew backwards into the trunk of a tree causing a massive indent where it had landed. Leaves from the tree began to rain down in the moonlight around him as the hell hound yowled out in pain. Grasping firmly to the blade he had stuck in another hound he pulled it out and sent it flying at the one that was now shuddering in pain from its wounds.

Thud.

The beast fell to the ground in a puddle of it's own blood as the sword struck it straight in the center of it's head killing it on impact. As soon as it fell to the ground howls could be heard from all over as the remaining hell hounds all fled for their lives at the sight of their leader falling to Prince Clyde. Standing there he watched as they all fled before glancing at where the hell hound earlier had bite him to see the torn clothing that he would need to fix later. The wound had already healed itself back up but the loss of blood would require him to feed later. He could hear the cheers from the other men on the wall as they saw their prince save the southern wall with them.

Planting the sword into the ground where he stood amidst the blazing inferno along the southern wall he gazed up at the night sky as it began to rain. The rain was cold and yet it felt great as it washed the blood and scent of iron from him. He could see and even feel the heat of the fire around him dimming down from the rain as it fell. Sounds of cheering mixed with the sound of the falling rain could be heard from all around while Prince Clyde was the only man who remained silent among them all. There was no cheer from him because he knew he still had a lot of work to do to get himself to where he wanted the city to become.
