Chapter 13

That night across the city a loud boom could be heard as wall plaster and wood chips scattered about the inside of the mansion. Demon Prince Clyde had planted his fist into the wall out of fury. He had been up all day waiting for Gunner to return home to him. All the servants in the mansion could hear the prince throwing a fit out of rage at the fact that Gunner was not back yet. Their whispers could be heard by Clyde but his mind was not interested in listening to gossipers.

"Is there no sign of him yet?" Prince Clyde's body shuddered as it was already past midnight and there was still no sign of him coming home. He was not sure where Gunner had gone and could only feel regret at not sending someone to keep watch over him. If something happened to Gunner he was surely willing to burn everything to ash in order to find the man.

"Sir, there is no sign of him anywhere in the area. Should we expand our search range or-" One of his guards started to ask questions about expanding the search but could only shudder as the sharp glare of Prince Clyde silenced him immediately where he stood.

"Expand? Of course you expand it! If he's not back by tomorrow I'll send you out to be personally devoured by the damn hell hounds out there! Find him now!" Prince Clyde shouted at everyone that could hear him. He did not care if it was maid or soldier he wanted Gunner to be found and brought back home at all costs.

"Apollo, you filthy bastard if you did something.." Prince Clyde muttered under his breath as his entire body could not stop shaking at the mere thought of the man touching what was his. He knew their relationship was not made clear but in his heart Gunner was already his. There was no thought in his mind to allow anyone else to lay a finger on Gunner if he could help it. Even if Gunner did not realize he belonged to Prince Clyde he was aware of it for him and that was all that mattered in the back of his mind.

Walking over to his desk he picked up his cup of coffee and chugged it down. His brow continued to twitch as he could hear the others still whispering among themselves as they scurried all over the mansion in search of anything even if it was a small clue as to where Gunner had vanished to. The sounds of their voices started to get on his nerves and he could feel his grip on his cup tightening to the point his knuckles went white.

Closing his eyes for a moment he released a grunt of frustration as he threw it against the wall. In a fit of rage and worry his hands began to sweep everything from his desk until there was nothing left but a lap. His hand grasping hold of the lap tightly, yanking it from the wall, he threw it right through the window causing glass to shatter all over the room and the yard below. The guards and servants below the window all fled from the raining shards of glass as it rained down from the bedroom window on the second floor.

"You better be alright.. I can't loose you to this damned cursed city of Abaron.. What reason would I have to fix it back up and make it flourish if you aren't there to show it to? The whole damned reason I want to make it a haven again is for you.." Prince Clyde said out loud even though he knew Gunner wasn't there to hear him speaking to him. He did not hold a hint of courage enough to admit to Gunner the words he'd spoken out in that moment but he could not stop his heart from spilling out to the empty room.

With a soft thud his back placed against the wall as he slid his way down onto the floor. Sitting there his eyes gazed at the papers that had scattered among the floor. The ache in his chest felt so painful that he could not bear the thought of something bad happening. As a gust of wind blew through the window the papers flew about the room. Prince Clyde did not hold any feeling when it came to seeing the papers scatter themselves about in the cold breeze from the broken window. The only thing in his eyes was to ensure that Gunner returned home at all costs.

Lifting up a piece of paper that landed on his lap he took a glance at it. In the back of his mind he could still imagine the way that Gunner bothered him every day for over working himself and never spending enough time with him. A faint smile slipped onto his face as he wondered what he'd think of him now if he'd seen him in such a weakened state of mind. If Gunner found out how weak at heart he truly was would he really care for him so much? He choked back his emotions as he stood up and brushed himself off.

The maids rushing by caught sight of Prince Clyde as he was brushing himself off and quickly fled as soon as they realized he'd caught them relaxing. A heavy sigh escaped him as he knew he must look like a tyrant for the sake of Gunner, but if it was for him he did not care in the least if he looked like a mad tyrant. When the man finally returned home he was not sure what he would do with him for making him worry so much. In all their days together he had never stayed out over night before. He knew him well enough to know that Gunner hated being outdoors in the city after dark because of the risks it brought to one's life. Thinking this far he could only feel more of a reason to kill Apollo if he saw him again because he was surely involved in why Gunner had vanished on him without warning.
