Traffic Jam

"You're always hungry, its annoying." I glared at Caleb.

"Not always and how is me being hungry annoying you ma'am?" Caleb argued back. Cyrus and Madison laughed at our banter.

He stopped at a McDonald's drive thru because he was hungry. Like always. All the time. Nothing new.

"Because it's like your stomach never ends, do you ever feel full? Do you even use the bathroom- wait yes you do it has to air out for like an hour before anyone can use it."

"That's true." Cyrus agreed.

"Whatever sis stop hating." He stuck out his tongue at me and I did the same. "Anyways I'm taking us to this club on Oasis Avenue. My friend Chris told me about it, it's called Oaks. Great vibes, amazing drinks, and they also have the best BBQ wings." He said grinning.

"I really wonder if the only thing you think about in that big head of yours is food." I glanced at him sideways.

"And girls." He wiggled his eyebrows, I shook my head smiling a little at his foolishness.

"Stop at the house so we can change first, I mean we don't want to turn up to a club dressed in our tennis clothes." Madison hit him in the back of his head, he rubbed the spot glaring at her.

My mom and I lived in Florida, my brother was attending college in California so I was alone most of the time due to my mom always working late at the hospital.

Mads and I were attending university here in Florida, in the city of Acrane, instead of dorming when I had the house all to my lonesome I asked my mom if Madison could move in with me and of course we asked her mom and she approved so my mom said yes. The journey to and from wasn't much of a problem.

I've lived in this house from I've known myself. Since then my mom has gotten the house refurbished twice.

The house was pretty decent and modern after the last time it was refurbished. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms, the rooms were decent and spacious. There was an adjustment to add another room to be used as a guest room. A beautiful open kitchen with smooth cream colored marble counter tops and the cupboards a glossy grey. An attached living room decked with a 60 inch flat screen TV.

Awesome right?

"Fine fine just stop hitting me woman."

Five minutes later and we were parked infront of the house courtesy of Caleb's speed driving of death.

"We'll be in the car, please don't take long." He glared at Mads and I.

"Hey I don't take hours to get ready." I glared back at him.

"Just hurry we need to leave before rush hour babe." Cyrus spoke looking up at me. I leaned forward and pecked his lips, earning a vomit sound from my brother.

"I won't take long."

"Okay now hurry up." Caleb shooed us away.

We both rolled our eyes at him and closed the car doors. I unlocked the front door quickly, Mads rushing inside behind me as I locked the door behind us.

These were the times I was thankful that we didn't have just one bathroom because Madison takes a year and a day to shower muchless get ready. After a well needed shower I completed all the necessities and then moved on to picking out my clothes.

I wore a blue skinny jeans I borrowed from Mads, my army crop top hoodie and my black sneakers. I brushed out my hair and let it fall to the side.

My hair was a light amethyst color mixed with a hint of red. I always wondered why it was that color since my mom's hair was just dark brown, I mean it was a pretty cool color and alot of people in Uni thought I dyed my hair. It seemed abnormal to some once I told them that this was my real hair color and then the teasing would start when I was in high school, Uni not so much.

My mom always told me to embrace it because I was special and unique, that some people wouldn't understand. I always asked what she meant by that but she'd just shrug it off and tell me to make sure I embrace it so eventually I stopped paying it any mind.

Madison was finally ready after taking hours in the bathroom, Caleb had beeped atleast ten times already. She chose to wear her ripped jeans and a crop top with her suede boots. I did her light brown hair in two space buns since she said I was the better one at doing them.

I checked my phone for any messages from my mom or CeCe.

One message and two missed calls.

The message was from my cousin, "Congrats on ur win girl. Heading on the plane now see you soon."

She must've landed by now so I sent her a quick text saying we won't be in till late.

The missed calls were from my mom, I instantly called her back three times, but damn it her phone went straight to voicemail.

Caleb beeped another three times "We're coming now jeez." I yelled through the window. I slid my phone into my back pocket, took up my purse and dragged Madison through the door. Sitting in the backseat and Mads in the front.

"So who's ready to partayy." Mads smiled at me.

"Not me." I smiled innocently at her. My answer caused her and my brother to roll their eyes.

"Oh stop being a party pooper." She huffed.

"Hey I'm still going aren't I?" I raised an eyebrow.

"We just want you to have a little fun before college starts back but if you don't wanna go to the club then we can-" Cyrus started.

"Guys it's fine really. Its just for tonight, I'll be fine by the way who's gonna drive us home?"

"Well Cyrus since he and Caleb got super wasted the last time and I had to stay sober. I will be far from sober tonight loves. I shall be drinking as soon as we get through those doors." Madison said waving a finger in the air at no one in particular.

Caleb turned up the radio as a pop song started playing so Mads and I sang along.

Four weeks until hell starts again. University isn't all that bad but sometimes it's just way too much, all the assignments, the group work, the studying till hours in the morning just really makes you wanna curl up in a ball and wish you never stopped being one years old.

Caleb and Cyrus seemed to be doing fine since they went to the same college, I hadn't heard them complain once about anything. Caleb was only here until his classes started back which was two weeks after mine. The lucky bastard.

"Are you kidding me." I heard Caleb curse slapping the steering wheel with his forehead.

When I looked out the window, we were stuck in a traffic jam.

"Well seems like we'll be here for a long while then." I mumbled and layed my head on Cyrus' shoulder.

Just great.

There's always a calm before the storm ;)

The cities and towns and other stuff in the story aren't real. I'm only just using the state names like Florida or LA :).
