Akiol woke up sluggishly, his whole body felt slow.
A voice could be heard, "He's awake."
Another voice commanded, "Give him another dose, we aren't ready yet."
"Isn't too much of this stuff lethal?"
"Just do it."
Akiol felt something pierce his arm and his vision faded again.
. . .
Akiol woke up again, this time no one was around to notice. He still felt sluggish and slow, no chance at escape currently.
He frowned to slightly offset the pain from a headache and blinked as his eyes adjusted to the room.
The place he was in didn't seem overly secured. The walls looked ordinary, the roof looked like the kind with removable sections.
He examined his current situation. His legs and arms were bound by two chains. They intertwined with his chair. Akiol examined the chair, it was one of those old plastic ones. With hollow metal cylinders to keep it standing.
It seemed a little outdated, Akiol was confident in escaping once he regained his senses.
A man walked through the door, "You're awake, good."
"Where am I?"
"I'll be asking the questions here, you only answer."
Akiol sighed, "I'm surprised you managed to do this. Security in our neighborhood is quite strong. You all might be wanted criminals as we speak."
"We covered our loose ends, we can't go risking everything for this."
Akiol leaned back and fiddled with the chains that bound him, "This seems a little extra, couldn't you have just come over? I would have let you in for a cup of tea."
"As if, people tied with Opportunity tend to not be so friendly."
"Opportunity?"
The man placed a bag on a movable table, the kind with wheels. He zipped open the bag and pulled out several objects. Akiol saw these and whistled, "This isn't going to be a friendly chat is it?"
"You won't get hurt as long as you answer my questions."
"Like I said, could have just asked me. I tend to give more information than I should."
"So you know something."
"I know a lot of things, I don't know if some of what I know is what you want. So what's the first question?"
The man twirled a wrench, "You seem awfully relaxed for your situation."
"This isn't my first rodeo. Though people like you tend to be more friendly once you get what you want."
"I'm glad we are on the same page then."
"So. . . the first question?"
"The one named Opportunity, what are your ties with them?"
"Who is Opportunity? Where would I have met them?"
"The game A World's Legacy. A player named Opportunity Strikes, what are your ties with them?"
Akiol shook his head, "I would remember such a weird name, I play with my five friends and hardly anyone else. Perhaps I don't know them by their name? What do they look like?"
Akiol was attempting to lead the conversation into convincing his interrogator he doesn't know anything. Even if he really didn't, something told Akiol they wouldn't believe him.
The man pulled out a picture, "Dual axes, medium to light armor. Female, sometime goes by the name War Goddess."
Akiol examined the picture, "No, I have never seen someone like this."
Clank-!
The man slammed the wrench into Akiol's gut. The chains that bound him together protected him somewhat, but it still hurt.
Akiol grunted. The man crouched down and looked him in the eye, "I will not stand for lying."
"How do you know I am lying? Isn't that a bit narrow sighted-!"
The wrench slammed into his gut again. Akiol had intentionally provoked them again, the pain for his adrenaline pumping. He felt the side effects of whatever they stuck in him fading. Just a bit more and he would be able to escape.
"We saw you interacting with them yesterday!"
"I didn't play the game yesterday?!"
The man whipped out a photo. Akiol was nearly shocked about who was in the photo, but he definitely did not show it, "What about this person?"
"We have information that this person is Opportunity."
"What does that have to do with me?"
"Who is she?!"
"I wouldn't know! It was just some random woman I came across in the mall, I thought she needed help! I figured I would be a bit chivalrous and offer a hand, but I was turned away. We didn't meet after that! Surely you could see that!"
"Nonsense, you were happily chatting. Even if we couldn't hear we could see your expressions."
"Oh please, you act like fake smiles don't exist. Merely an act to politely turn someone away."
The man slammed the table, "More lies!"
"Is it though?!"
The man gripped the wrench and slammed it into Akiol's arm. A sharp pain flew up his arm but almost immediately dulled. It seemed like his bone was fractured or broken, however thanks to that the adrenaline was working overtime.
Akiol jumped up and head butted the man. The man grunted and stumbled back. The man cursed and swung the wrench at Akiol.
Akiol ducked under the swing. He then spun and slammed one of the chair legs into the man. Akiol nearly fell over from the maneuver, and the chains dug into his skin. Turning around he planned to slam his head into the man's nose.
The man grunted and slammed his foot into Akiol's chest. He received the blow and fell back. The moment before impact he jerked his body and slammed the plastic top of the chair to take the brunt of the fall. Contrary to his expectation, the plastic didn't snap. Instead it bent awkwardly, the part where it bent turned white.
Akiol cursed the sturdy yet so fragile material, why couldn't it snap?!
An idea occurred, if it could bend. . .
Akiol landed with a small slide, the chains making horrible sounds as they glided across the floor. Akiol grit his teeth, this one may hurt.
He forcefully straightened his body. The chains dug into his legs and he pushed forward. Yet once again, it didn't go as planned. Instead the old hollow metal legs bent forwards instead.
Almost wanting to cry at the materials that didn't react as he expected, he continued to adjust to the circumstances.
Now that the chair legs had moved, he found he could slide the chains further down. Giving him more space.
The man stomped closer, Akiol had about a handful of seconds left before he was getting hit by the wrench again. Wiggling furiously caused the chains on the bottoms to slide free. With his legs now unchained he could defend himself far better.
Akiol scrambled to get up, the man with the wrench swung towards his head. Akiol leaned back, the wrench missing by an inch. Raising a foot he stomped on the man's knee, causing it to lock itself temporarily. Akiol raised his foot and kicked the man's chin, all in one smooth motion.
The man fell to the ground, unable to catch themselves because of their locked knee. Akiol used the opportunity to escape the other set of chains. Sliding under their grasp.
The man slowly got up. Akiol gripped the set of chains, a lock held them together. Before the man could even stand Akiol slammed the chains on their back. His arm burned in pain from the movement, but he ignored it.
Akiol rushed to the door, whilst he could take out the man, his priority was escaping. The door was locked, but it was the kind that locked with a button push from the inside. So all Akiol had to do was turn the handle.
The door swung open and Akiol was greeted with a hallway. He frowned, why was this like a school?
He bolted down a hallway, constantly making a mental map as he ran.
A voice shouted, "Stop right there!"
He looked back to see some men chasing him in black attire. Akiol moved his legs a little faster, with his injured arm he wasn't confident in taking down that many opponents without a weapon.
Akiol spotted an emergency fire exit, hoping his kidnappers didn't block it he ran to it. Pushing the bar the door swung open. Akiol didn't hesitate to run through.
Akiol was greeted with a van opening its doors. He couldn't believe it, just how many men did they have to contain him?
Something fired, Akiol dodged to the side and the projectile hit one of the men.
He then ran up to the van, the guns had a small timeframe before they could fire another shot. At least that was what Akiol had assumed through his small amount of experience facing them. The gun fired again, Akiol jerked to the side and wasn't harmed. He jumped forward, gripping the top of the van he slammed his feet into the shooter.
The man slammed against the wall of the van, smacking his head. They were out cold. Akiol landed in the van, almost immediately he jerked his head to the side.
The driver swung a knife towards him. Akiol grew a little nervous, they were using more lethal weapons now. If he had to face a real gun. . .
Akiol gripped the arm and pushed it back, the joint cracked and the driver screamed whilst dropping the knife.
He picked it up, he had a weapon for now.
His pursuers opened the other van doors, aiming to surround him. Akiol picked up the gun on the ground and shot one of them, knocking them out almost immediately. He escaped through the now open exit and continued running. The adrenaline was still pumping, so he felt completely fine.
Akiol reached a fence, he grit his teeth. This one was going to hurt even worse. He jumped and grabbed the top of the fence, using his legs to propel him higher.
The adrenaline seemed to have been more effective, for he didn't feel his arm hurting as much. Either that or he wasn't paying attention to it.
Akiol bolted, he needed to escape now. His feet carried him as he ran through a field. He couldn't help but complain about the location. It wasn't a school, it was some office in the middle of nowhere.
His feet carried him for a long while. He had no idea where he was, it seemed like there was nothing but plains.
He looked behind him, he saw no pursuers. He sighed and sat down, exhaustion hitting him like a truck.
Akiol looked up, the sky was being pierced by rays of sunshine. The sun had arised, and he had no clue where he was.
