City of Ovaljue

Wrock flashed blue.

[Refresh Collection]!

This skill reset the cooldowns for all attack based skills. Essentially providing Wrock double the output!

A woman screamed, "Plantivore is coming!"

A monstrous plant trudged into view. It looked like a combined abomination of the Elites. Wrock raised his fists, he needed to be quick.

His body flickered, leaving an afterimage. Appearing in front of Plantivore his fist slammed into it.

[Xiphoid Strike]!

[Twin Rising Cobras]!

Yet Plantivore dodged despite the stun ability of [Xiphoid Strike].

Wrock was slightly disappointed at this outcome, he didn't get to do his stylish combo.

Plantivore retaliated with a dozen vines. All aiming for Wrock. Closing his eyes he felt the movement in his surroundings. His body moved accordingly and all twelve vines were destroyed.

Wrock was having a hard time integrating {Hyperfocused Battle Intensity} into his combat style. It seemed like his innate ability to discern flaws was clashing with it. Because of this he had to switch between the two, choosing which to use.

While it was upsetting that he couldn't use it properly, he didn't quite mind. After all he did finally reach the point.

Wrock unleashed several blows onto Plantivore. Lowering its health bar by a decent amount.

Once being lowered by a third Plantivore shook and a thick layer of spores surrounded it. Wrock retreated beforehand, already knowing this would occur.

[Thundering Impact]!

[Second Tempo Strike]!

[Mastered Basic Punch]!

Two shockwaves shot forward. Blowing away the spores whilst slamming into Plantivore. Dropping it's health by another third.

Wrock dashed forward, dodging the incoming attacks from an angered Plantivore. Wrock jumped over a sweeping vine and rotated several times before kicking Plantivore.

[Cycle Crash]!

Wrock used the force to propel himself higher, "[The Beast's Roar]!"

Boom-!

Another shockwave slammed into Plantivore. Causing it's HP to drop to a tenth. A horrific screech sounded and the plant began to turn red.

[Monstrous Strength]!

[Guillotine Kick]!

Plantivore was crushed underneath Wrock's foot. An announcement was made that the dungeon was clear and the players would be automatically exited soon.

The trio walked over to Wrock awkwardly. Jay said abashed, "I. . . Thank you for helping."

Wrock grinned, "It was no problem! You guys are more skilled than I thought you were. That teamwork was awesome! I recommend learning how to wield your weapons properly though."

"What do you mean?", Phil asked.

"You're relying on the game too much. For instance your blocking would have been easier to maintain if you wielded it properly. Instead it wasn't and led to quick exhaustion. Jay's sword wielding is all over the place, also causing more exhaustion and unnecessary movements. If you learned how to, this dungeon would be easy for you all."

The three took Wrock's suggestions seriously. After all the guy singlehandedly took down four Elites and a dungeon boss back to back. Phil then asked, "Could I friend you? I would like to dungeon with you in the future."

Wrock nodded, "Sure!"

Jarvis was riding on the back of Extreok. The wolf was faster than Whitelash when it used it's elements.

The wolf used wind to create platforms underneath its feet to jump over large obstacles.

Jarvis asked, "So what is Neorvil like?"

Extreok continued running whilst answering, "Slightly childish in my opinion. She does whatever she wants. Yet she is quick to accept anything if it sounds fun. I honestly don't know why she is a Sage."

"Is she strong?"

"She is a Sage, so of course."

". . . Tell me about the Sages then. I know their names, general looks, and powers. Yet how did the Sages come to be?"

"You wish to know our origins?"

"Yes, I am not familiar with the stories of this world."

"The four Sages are nature's chosen as guardians. We are to protect the world from calamity and destruction."

"But destruction happens all the time. I don't see any protection against that."

"The species in this world aren't of our concern. The fights between humans and such are pointless. We fight against calamities that threaten the destruction of the whole world."

"Whole world? I don't think anything like that has ever happened."

"Not since we have been titles Sages. We weren't always the Sages. We are the second to exist, the first's identities have been lost in time sadly."

"The first? So you guys can die of age?"

"Of age? No, we are protected by nature. Our lifespans are endless."

"How does that make you different than the Immortals?"

"We were blessed by nature, extending our cycle of life infinitely. The Immortals tore themselves forcefully from it. Becoming unable to die."

"So you guys have been alive for a while right? Tell me some stories."

"How about the war against the slimes?"

"What?!"

"Is there something wrong?"

"No, please go on ahead."

"Several hundreds of years ago, back when the Crimson Immortals wasn't formed. The species of the world were quite jealous of the slimes. To simply eat items made of mana to grow stronger, how easy was that? Yet because of this same reason the slimes were unnaturally strong. Unable to fight against the slimes the species had to endure the world's unfairness. That was until the creation of the Crimson Immortals."

Jarvis was particularly interested in this. Since Akiol was a slime. So he continued listening to her story.

"The Crimson Immortals gathered many of the species together. Upon announcing their immortality they proposed a plan to rid the world of the slimes. With the species' great jealousy they agreed."

"What did the Crimson Immortals have against the slimes?"

"This is most likely forgotten amongst the Immortals. But the reason they created a war against the slimes was because their reputation and title as the Immortals was at risk. Slimes are naturally almost immune to all type of damage. Except their core. This also includes age, meaning that Slimes were the closest to Immortality besides the Crimson Immortals."

"Slimes cannot die of age either?"

"Not in the way you would think. Instead their entire life is on a counter. The mana they absorb to grow stronger slowly diminishes over time. When it is gone their core cannot support their body and fails. Essentially killing the slime."

Jarvis then asked somewhat hesitantly, "What if a slime was born with mana?"

"Born with it? I am unsure, if that is the case would they naturally grow stronger due to them constantly having mana? Would they grow forever? It has never happened before, so I am unsure."

"Alright. . . continue with the story then."

"After plotting their attack the species struck against the slimes. The war lasted for years, deaths happening on both sides. Eventually the species won thanks to the power of the Immortals. The slimes were wiped out, almost."

"Almost?"

"Few scattered around still lived. A rare sight for centuries. Yet slowly even these slimes were hunted. Very few remain to this day. I estimate only three are left, but their strength is far higher than what many can reach."

"Did you participate in this war?"

"None of us did. In fact even the dragons did not participate in the war either. It is unknown if dragons have anything against the slimes. It is rumored that they favor the slimes."

Jarvis found the thought funny. Slimes in his previous world were incredibly weak. They were considered a pest in his world. To think that one of the most powerful creatures in existence liked the weakest. It was quite the thought.

"We're here."

Jarvis looked up to see a beautiful city next to the sea. While admiring this view he asked, "So where are we going?"

"Neorvil is living on a secluded island in the sea. I must rest a while before I can walk across it, so explore the city or do whatever."

Jarvis grinned as he slipped off of Extreok, "That's a strange quirk you have. At sometimes you seem like a majestic creature of myths. At other times an uncaring creature."

"Hmph, send me back. I shall recover in two days."

Jarvis chuckled as he sent Extreok back into his book. He then admired the view again.

He was located in the City of Olvajue. A city that was incredibly reliant with its sea trades. Yet regardless of this, it was prospering. The city was beautiful. As ships of all shapes and sizes came to and fro from the harbor.

As far as Jarvis knew, this was a city players couldn't purchase a teleport scroll to without visiting if first.

It was a strange feature of A World's Legacy. The basic player cities were easily accessible and able to be traveled between. Yet these places were a small fraction of the total number of cities. The players would need to visit one of these cities to unlock the teleport scroll.

Guilds would soon find out that these cities were a golden land of opportunity. Untouched by player economy they could build a business inside a city before others. Some cities would even give a player full control over it if they fulfilled certain conditions.

Jarvis started walking towards the city, "I've got two days to waste. Let's explore the city."
