A Card Game?

The twelfth day of the competition started. As many seated they silently raised their hopes for the match. Nothing had truly satisfied them yet!

The hologram man appeared, he looked at the crowd. He was a little upset at the lack of reaction, but he put his hopes into these matches, "Is everyone ready for the battle of six?!"

The crowd cheered, but not with nearly as much energy as the first time. The hologram man's face flickered with disappointment, but he still raised a hand, "Who will be the first contenders?!"

The boxes spun until the names were set.

Six Lights

Steep Cliff

There was some slight murmurs, but nothing crazy.

The hologram man continued, "And the Arena?!"

Arena:

Glory To Fighters

The hologram merely nodded, "Let the match. . ."

He swung his hand down, "Begin!"

Wrock massaged his shoulders, "Alright finally!"

Akiol inspected his surroundings, it was similar to a Gladiator's arena. Except the floor underneath them was tile. As he looked up he noticed faint faces in the sky. It was then he realized how the in-game seat worked. It seemed they were in a separate space, those who inspected the match would be viewing it similarly to those with the Physical Seat.

He looked forward and gave a rough estimate on the enemy team. They were confident by their expressions, but the way they stood. . .

Akiol frowned, 'They don't plan to fight?'

One person grinned as they lifted their hand to the sky. Akiol quickly gripped the handle of Stars and prepared to shoot forward to stop whatever they were planning. However he was stuck to the ground!

The one holding their hand to the sky suddenly shouted, "Duel!"

The space folded inward, sections of the map began falling apart. As if being sucked into an unknown space.

Yet the party remained safe and sound, as if it was all an illusion.

A prompt appeared in front of them:

<By the rules of |Card Duelist| you are to choose a dueler.>

Wrock smacked his lips, "Not me."

Kan'na pinched her chin, "A War Sight? Interesting. Should I tamper with it?"

Akiol shook his head, "Nah let's play by their rules for now."

"Then who are we picking?"

"Isn't that obvious?"

<Notice! Selected Dueler: Proven Remedy>

<Dueler has five minutes to review the rules!>

Yielya snorted, "Blatantly unfair."

Yet she memorized them in under a minute. She immediately began thinking of different loopholes, choosing to spend her extra time towards planning.

The crowd was suddenly intrigued. It was a sudden change?

They were used to constant battle. Explosive skills! Blood and death! What really gets them excited!

What was this?

Henry was reading what was happening and continued to commentate in disbelief, "Due to a Unique ability by Joint Reels the proceeding battle will be turned into a. . . card game?"

John continued, "Stated by Kan'na they seemed to call this ability a War Sight?"

"Just what is happening?"

The surroundings changed once more and Yielya found herself on an elevated platform. Underneath her was a 11x11 grid, the rest of her party was placed in a small triangle shape. Each one of them on a separate tile on the grid.

The rules were simple:

Turns were divided into three parts.

-Moving Stage

-Drawing Stage

-Playing Stage

The moving stage allowed Yielya to move any of her party members but was limited to a total of three tiles of total movement, granted there wasn't anyone on the target tiles.

The drawing stage allowed her to draw two Cards to add to her stock.

The playing stage allowed her to play cards according to their types.

The types of cards were divided into three:

-Action Cards

-Chain Cards

-Counter Cards

-Ace Cards

Action Cards were limited to one use every playing stage. These usually consisted of attack or support.

Chain Cards were limited to two each Playing Stage, and could only be used after an Action Card was played. Similarly to combos.

Counter Cards were used to respond to the opponents Action or Chain Cards. These were limited to once during the opponent's turn.

Ace Cards were directly available to play during anytime. These were limited to three, but contained abilities that could turn the battle.

The Cards were based around the team's Skills and abilities. Yielya's own abilities were used for the Ace Cards. The rest of the party was used for the deck. The objective of the game was to eliminate every opponent. In this case everyone except the dueler. Each person had 100 HP, which would be slowly reduced through the usage of Cards.

If the Cards ran out then the total HP would be calculated into a single number, the one with the greater HP would be declared the victor, killing the loser.

The enemy, Joint Reels, casually spoke, "So how do you like it?"

Yielya calmly responded, "It's an intriguing War Sight. Haven't seen one so exaggerated."

"Hmm? So you're aware of War Sights! Interesting. Well allow me to inform you of some basic rules, after all it only gives you five minutes for some reason."

"No need. Starting game rule, cards are automatically shuffled. We draw four from the top of the deck and flip a coin to see who goes first. Question is, heads or tails?"

Joint Reels was slightly impressed, "Quite the memory! Alright, I choose Tails."

Yielya drew four cards and briefly glanced over them. Immediately ideas forming in her head.

A coin manifested and flipped through the air. It hit the ground and spun slightly before falling flat. The side face up was. . .

Heads!

Joint Reels leaned on the guardrails of the elevated platform, "You're first."

Yielya proceeded to move Tilia and Kan'na forward, whilst placing Wrock further back.

She drew two cards and placed them into her hand, "I use no Action Cards, so I end my turn."

Joint Reels moved three units similarly and drew two cards, "I also use no Action Cards, so I end my turn."

Yielya moved Jarvis towards a corner, using her total three spaces. She then drew two cards, "I end my turn."

Joint Reels moved a few units and drew two cards, "I end my turn!"

Yielya took a breath, now it was time to start the real deal!

She moved Kan'na forward three tiles, placing her closer to the enemy team.

After drawing two cards she then placed an Action Card onto the table in front of her, "I use the Action Card [Light Ray]! Dealing fifteen damage to anyone within eight tiles in front of Kan'na!"

Kan'na lifted her hands and two large magic circles appeared in front of her.

Joint Reels was momentarily surprised at such a strong Action Card, but he quickly reacted, "I use the Counter Card [Sturdy Wall]! Reducing any incoming damage to Naru by eight! Additionally it stops any further progress to projectile-like attacks!"

Naru lifted his shield, shining brilliantly.

Kan'na shot her magic spell, a ray of light shining forward. The light ray slammed into Naru, but stopped its progress.

<Naru: -7HP!>

Yielya calmly accepted the situation, "I end my turn."

Joint Reels moved Naru closer to Kan'na. After drawing two cards he placed a Card onto the table, "I use the Action Card [Shield Charge]! Using his shield to charge forward Naru progress by four tiles forward unless hitting someone! If he hits someone then he stops immediately, the victim taking five damage and being stunned for one turn!"

He paused before adding, "Stun means you can't move or use Action Cards based around them by the way."

Yielya nodded, "I am aware, and due to that I place the Counter Card [Repulsion Circle]! This pushes any nearby players away two tiles while doing 2 damage to them! Due to your shield charge technically not hitting, this removes the effect of stun, and makes Kan'na take no damage!"

Naru raised his shield and charged forward, however the moment he got close a magic circle appeared in front of Kan'na and blasted him back.

<Naru -2HP!>

Joint Reels grinned, "Not bad! I'm surprised you were able to do this much despite the short time! It seems like this will be a fun duel! I end my turn!"

Yielya used the rest of her spaces to move Jarvis completely into the corner. She then drew two cards. With a small glance she immediately placed a card onto the table, "I use the Action Card [Tame Summon: Bo and To]! This summons a pair of birds that attack anyone on the field for ten damage! Moreover I use the Chain Card [Tamer's Call]! Increasing the damage of Bo and To by fifty percent! My target is the archer named Empty Shot!"

Joint Reels placed a card onto the table, "I use the Counter Card [Vengeful Arrow]! Sending and arrow to the enemy that attacked Empty Shot, dealing eight damage!"

<Empty Shot -15HP!>

<Monster Collector -8HP!>

Yielya stated, "I end my turn."

Joint Reels moved a few of his units before a faint smile appeared on his face, "Now, shall I make things more interesting?"
