The Ring

Ophelia hesitated for a moment, considering Alexander's proposal. Though the idea of marriage still felt foreign to her, she found herself intrigued by the possibilities he presented. With a nod, she accepted, her heart fluttering with a mix of excitement and uncertainty.

"But i wanted to clarify something."

Alexander nodded and asked her to continue.

" If marrying you is what it takes to save my shares and fight back against Eleanor and Clarissa, then I'll do it. But I want it to be a partnership, not just a transaction. I mean i want us to give sometime. I don't want to invest in anything that i will regret. If i am deciding to stay with you, i want us to get old together with no cheating nothing involved."

Alexander's heart was so full. A girl with so much of clarity in her life, who will think of cheating on her? He nodded his head and give her the reassurance.

"Don't worry, our thoughts are the same."

"How about your family? Will they agree?" Ophelia was curious. She is not having any solid background now, why will a family as big as Blackwoods accept her now with nothing in hand.

Alexander smirked and replied.

"They will be happy as long as they get to know i am marrying."

Ophelia got confused and could not help but ask, "Huh? What do you mean? Do you have someone in your heart?"

Alexander shook his head rapidly when he realized she got confused.

"No, no. After school I did not like anyone apart from you."

His response not only made him slap his own head but Ophelia could not help but blush slightly.

To lighten the atmosphere, Alexander added.

"Though we have a wedding to plan, let's sort out other things too."

Ophelia nodded her head and added,

"Can we do the wedding plans later on, I mean after meeting the families? I mean we can sign the papers first."

Alexander understood. He knew she wanted to meet with his family and did not want them to feel sidelined. He could not help but appreciate her efforts as he added.

"Sure."

As they continued their investigation, Ophelia couldn't shake the feeling that her relationship with Alexander was shifting. There was a newfound closeness between them, a connection that went beyond their shared mission.

One evening, after a particularly productive day, Alexander suggested they take a break and go out for dinner. Ophelia agreed, eager for a chance to relax and unwind.

They chose a cozy restaurant with dim lighting and soft music, the perfect setting for an intimate conversation. As they sat across from each other, Ophelia found herself studying Alexander's features, noticing the way the candlelight danced in his eyes.

Their conversation flowed effortlessly, covering everything from work to personal anecdotes. Ophelia felt herself opening up to Alexander in ways she hadn't before, sharing stories and dreams with a newfound sense of ease.

As the evening wore on, Ophelia found herself drawn to Alexander's warmth and charisma. There was a magnetic pull between them, a chemistry that lingered in the air long after their plates had been cleared.

As they left the restaurant, Ophelia felt a sense of contentment wash over her. She realized that she was beginning to see Alexander in a new light, not just as a colleague, but as someone she could trust and confide in.

Later that night, as they continued their investigation, Ophelia couldn't shake the memory of their dinner date. She found herself replaying their conversations in her mind, reliving the moments they had shared with a sense of longing.

As she glanced over at Alexander, she noticed the way his eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiled, the way his voice softened when he spoke to her. And in that moment, Ophelia knew that her feelings for him were more than just professional admiration.

But as they delved deeper into their work, Ophelia pushed aside her feelings, determined to focus on the task at hand. Yet, deep down, she couldn't shake the feeling that her relationship with Alexander was on the verge of something more.

After their dinner date, as they strolled through the city streets, Alexander suggested they make a quick stop at a nearby jewelry shop. Ophelia raised an eyebrow in surprise, but Alexander simply smiled mysteriously and led the way.

The jewelry shop was elegant and opulent, with sparkling displays of diamonds and gemstones catching the light. Ophelia couldn't help but feel a sense of awe as she took in the luxurious surroundings.

Alexander guided her to a display case filled with an exquisite collection of rings. Each piece was more stunning than the last, but one in particular caught Ophelia's eye—a delicate diamond ring with a simple yet elegant design.

As she admired the ring, Alexander spoke up. "I thought this might suit you," he said softly, his eyes warm with affection.

Ophelia felt her heart skip a beat as she realized what Alexander was implying. Could he be suggesting what she thought he was suggesting?

"Alexander, I..." Ophelia began, her voice trailing off as she searched for the right words.

But Alexander simply reached for the ring and slipped it onto her finger, his touch gentle and reassuring. "You don't have to say anything," he said softly. "Just know that I care about you, Ophelia. And I want you to know that I'm here for you, no matter what."

Tears welled up in Ophelia's eyes as she looked down at the ring on her finger, feeling a rush of emotion unlike anything she had ever experienced before. In that moment, she knew that she was exactly where she was meant to be.

As they left the jewelry shop hand in hand, Ophelia couldn't stop smiling. She felt a newfound sense of joy and excitement, knowing that she had found someone who truly cared for her.

And as they continued their journey together, Ophelia couldn't help but feel grateful for the unexpected twist of fate that had brought them together. For in Alexander, she had found not just a partner, but a kindred spirit—a soulmate who would stand by her side through thick and thin.

As they walked arm in arm into the night, Ophelia knew that their journey was far from over. But with Alexander by her side, she was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, knowing that their love would guide them through even the darkest of times.
