146 A Promise

A simple life. 

What a deceptively simple set of words. 

Even as Daphne said those words, she couldn't help but smile at her own words in disbelief. 

From the day they had been born, it was impossible to dream of living a simple life. Such was the curse of being born into the royal family. 

This was the price that they had to pay in exchange for the lavish lifestyles that they enjoyed.  Every one of their meals was undoubtedly worth ten times that of a normal family's, and the very gowns that they danced the night away in were worth more than what some village girls earned throughout their entire lifetime. 

What's more, there were the lives of millions at the tips of her fingers. 

So how could she ever dare of dreaming of a simple life? 

There was an old phrase such that it was impossible to obtain both the bear's palm and the swimming fish, so she didn't even know why she was bringing up such impossibilities.
