After we left the barbecue, I stood in front of Nora while she sat on my couch. I was figuring out what to say. Nora gave me a sheepish look.

/"Okay, it worries you about taking things to the next level, but you don’t have to worry./"

/"Why not?/"

I put my hands on my face and rubbed it. /"Because you don’t./"

Nora stood up. /"Shouldn’t we discuss it?/"

/"Why?/"

/"Isn’t that what couples do?/"

/"Most couples do. We aren’t there yet./"

/"But we slept together./"

/"Yeah, but we had clothes on./"

/"I’m confused./" Nora sat back down on the couch.

I sat down next to Nora and took her hand in mine. /"Nora, I understand it concerns you about taking that next step, but I assure you, I’m in no rush./"

/"I know, but it’s difficult. I had one relationship and a few dates. I worry about screwing things up./"
