"…This is one of the five great cities of Endar; one of two kingdoms predominantly ruled over by humans. It is by far the oldest and wealthiest even though the Royal Citadel is the most populous and arguably more powerful because it is where the King lives. Drenda'al is the city of magic and home to the Academy; a place of learning for mages and great warriors while the Citadel is a place of power and influence. Drenda'al is the new capital of the Magic Kingdom of Endar which values the pursuit of knowledge and power above all else while the Citadel is the capital of the eternal kingdom Corsal which values tradition and order.

In geographical terms, Drenda'al straddles the mouth of the Emure river and the entire bounty of the Midlands flowed beneath its great stone bridges and massive ports renowned amongst all the other races.

The watchtower was originally fifty feet and made of wood, it was replaced by thick stone with a formidable fortress at its base which rose to a hundred feet rising above the city walls. The inhabitants of Drenda'al could tell the time of the day by where its shadow fell. The walls of its fortress are made of a thick solid black stone with no hint of where its pieces are joined, mortar or even chisel marks giving rise to speculation that the ancient dragon used its breath to melt it so that the mages could mold it into whatever shape they wanted…"
