A mysterious person saves him, only to leave him to die at the city gates! Fair warning, this is a story about a guy who is surrounded by women who are taller and stronger than him. If you are looking for a story where the male lead takes charge and protects the women, this might not be the story for you.

I have seen the light...

When I came to, I was lying on a bed in an empty room. I looked around trying to figure out where I was. I heard soft footsteps and saw a woman enter the room. She was dressed in the attire of a nun. It seems I am in the church healing center, but how did I get here? The nun was 30 - 35 years old, blond and was of average build. She was beautiful and had a kind smile. I was so captivated by her smile that it took me a second to realize that she was talking to me.

"What?" I said absentmindedly.

She leaned forward a bit and said softly "How are you feeling?".

"I am feeling ok… actually… why don't I feel any pain? I remember being hurt pretty badly. How did I get here? I don't think I was in any shape to walk"

"Yes, you were hurt pretty badly. You had wounds all over your body and you were bleeding all over. You were left in front of the city gates by someone where the guards found you. One of the guards carried you here. She said she did not see who dropped you off at the gates but some of your wounds were already crudely patched before you were dropped off. We can only assume, whoever brought you to the city gates did it to buy you some time. When the guard brought you here, I saw your condition and immediately asked for help from the High Priestess. She used a considerable amount of her magic to heal you."

I became more and more amazed as I listened to the nun. I almost died today! I was saved by a stranger who left me in front of the gates. Then a guard carried me to this place where the high priestess herself saved my life!

"I would like to thank you and the high priestess for saving my life. If possible, I would like to give my thanks to the high priestess in person."

"I will convey your gratitude to the High Priestess. We try to help as many people as possible without asking anything in return." she said while smiling kindly.

"I would also like to thank the guard that brought me here. Can you tell me her name?"

"She said her name was Leana. You would need to investigate yourself for more information about her. She was on guard duty when she brought you here. She was in a hurry to return to her post and didn't say much more."

I considered it and thought that there must be some way to find the stranger that had saved me in the forest. If not them, at least the guard. Both of them had saved my life. I looked up at the woman and asked "I never introduced myself. My name is Ren"

"I am Kassandra, you can call me Kas. I am a nun here" she responded while smiling gently.

"Thank you Kas. When will I be able to leave?"

"You are fully healed and can leave anytime you want!"

I felt a bit of teasing in her voice and got embarrassed. I could feel that I was fully healed and could leave and wasn't sure why I even asked the question.

I got off the bed as Kas moved back to give me space. I am pretty short for my age, only about 4'10" and she was not much taller than me probably 5'0". I looked around and found my shoes in the corner. I wore the shoes and looked back at Kas and said "I will try to return these clothes as soon as I get my clothes"

"Don't worry about the clothes for now. It is not urgent that you return them. Just remember the kindness that has been shown to you and pass it forward" said Kas.
