Family Reunion

"He does not get into trouble like he used to..." She muttered and looked at Morgantus and then at Fediluv.

"I guess you have met my son then...", she added in a softer tone of voice.

"Yes we have!", Morgantus answered, trying his best to be polite to her.

"He's very nice."

She let out a sigh.

"Thank you for your kindness. My son is very passionate about his work and I worry that he may be putting himself at risk for his interests."

She looked at them both again before continuing, "He's very good at what he does but sometimes I wish that he would take some time to think about other things in his life...other than his work."

She stood up and walked around her desk and came closer to Leran with a gentle smile on her face.

"It's been too long since I've last seen you."

She hugged her son tightly and then moved away again with a soft sigh. "I'm glad you're here for now.", she said.

"Yes, I've missed you too...", Leran replied.

Morgantus felt awkward looking on at this scene. It felt like he was seeing something not meant for him to see, or at least something that he shouldn't hear.

He glanced at Fediluv to see if she was also uncomfortable but she just smiled at Leran's mother warmly.

Leran's mother smiled at Morgantus and then gave him a knowing look as if she could read his mind and knew why he felt awkward in this situation.

Morgantus felt his face flush in embarrassment, and he looked down at the ground.

"Leran, you still haven't told me about these two kids...", she said as she looked over Morgantus and Fediluv as she sat down at the desk again.

"This is Morgantus, and this is Fediluv, mother.", Leran said proudly as he pointed to Morgantus and then to Fediluv before continuing.

"They are two new students who I have just brought here to the university."

"I see...so they are new students, hmm? How did you find them? You went in person?", she asked as she looked at the two of them curiously.

She was leaning forward onto her desk again as she examined their faces closely.

"I was actually passing through a small town called Teckleville, so I decided to bring them to Orlandine.", Leran replied as he scratched the back of his neck sheepishly, looking away from her gaze.

His mother narrowed her eyes as she gave Leran a stare that seemed to make it clear that she could see right through him, making him feel embarrassed again.

"It's because of the visions, isn't it?", she said in an exasperated voice as she continued to study their faces closely.

"Yes...", Leran said with a sheepish expression.

His mother sighed and sat back in her chair, looking exhausted from whatever mental effort she had just made.

She looked at Leran again and spoke in a tired voice, "Leran...you know that I will never understand this ability you have. You always…", she shook her head lightly in exasperation and turned her attention back toward the pair.

"So, Morgantus and Fediluv is it? I'm the head secretary for the university...and my name is Lereleona. It is nice to meet you two…"

After a long conversation with Lereleona, Morgantus and Fediluv were each given a room in one of the student dormitories.

There were a total of five bedrooms in their dormitory. In addition, there was a common shared room with couches, a fireplace and a table where they could gather to eat meals together and talk.

While Morgantus and Fediluv were trying to get settled in their new rooms, Leran stayed with his mother in her office.

The last thing they heard him say was that they had class early in the morning.

Unfortunately, he got pulled away by Lereleona before they could ask him more questions about when and where the classes were.

Morgantus felt strangely unsettled as he looked at their new surroundings. Everything in the room seemed clean and organized, but somehow it all looked uninviting and unfamiliar.

His bed was made with fresh sheets and pillows, but everything looked so plain that it didn't seem like they truly owned the room. The room was much bigger than what he had back home, but it felt like something was missing.

As he was thinking about it, he felt something tap him on the shoulder from behind, and he turned around to see a young boy standing there, smiling brightly at him.

The boy was tall and slim, with short brown hair and slightly pointed ears.

He had large eyes that made him look like he was staring straight into the eyes of any animal he came across, but there was also a strange light in them that made Morgantus feel uneasy.

The boy smiled again at him and held out his hand towards him.

"I'm Ragnar.", he said in a loud and clear voice as he gently grabbed Morgantus' hand in a firm but gentle grip and shook it. "It's nice to meet you."

Morgantus noticed that he had no visible marks on his hands at all, but strangely they felt like they were calloused.

"Uh...yeah...it's nice to meet you too.", he replied awkwardly as he shook the hand of Ragnar as well.

"Let me introduce you to our other roommate Nino.", Ragnar said as he looked around the room and motioned towards the door with his head.

Morgantus turned to see Nino walking in from the door that had just opened.

She had a very furious look on her face, with her arms folded and her brow furrowed.

She quickly closed the gap between them and grabbed Morgantus by the collar of his shirt as he was looking at her in disbelief.
