Ch. 19 succeeding disciple
A gasps can be heard when he walks up front the grandmaster. This time wearing a sect robe and without the mask on.
"Silence." Grandmaster Xi voice booms across the open fields looking at the thousands of disciples standing on. They all stand straight when they heard her voice.
"This is Cheng Li, he is my succeeding disciple." She announced when the fields of people somewhat became subdued. After hearing her voice, the still chattering people became silent, the place became so quiet that pin drop could be heard.
"Grandmaster Xi, is he a little too old to become your succeeding disciple?" an elder ask glaring menacingly on Cheng Li.
"Are you questioning my decision?" She asked smiling coldly.
"No Grandmaster, please forgive me." before he bows his head and never raising it until the announcement is done.
Some even wants to protest but they are quickly beaten by the glaring eyes of the Grandmaster. Don't be a fool on her appearance, the Grandmaster Xi is the most ruthless person on this sect.
After saying her pieces, Grandmaster Xi dismiss the warrior division making them go to their different class before going to the alchemy division to announce her news. This time a larger chatter can be heard, some are clearly against it but some, if not mostly are all calling Cheng Li Older brother. After the announcement are done, the twelve masters with their succeeding disciple are invited on welcoming Cheng Li at the Grandmaster Ran's palace.
The welcoming last for almost an hour, after the fake praises, fake smiles and gift givings Cheng Li decided he had enough and go outside the palace his intent is to go home.
"Help! Elder Brother help me." a cry for help surprised him, the sun is almost set and the lantern are already lit so he is surprised that someone is still outside when the threat of a demon invasion is hanging around their head.
A beautiful woman lays beside a rock, holding her blood soiled handkerchief. She is clearly wounded on her feet. Cheng Li looks at her for a minute.
"Guard, someone is wounded in here." he alert the guard before continuing his walk, not paying attention to the woman anymore.
If he stays just for a minute, he would see how the guards starts laughing at the woman standing perfectly alright wearing an angry and embarrassed expression.
"Stop laughing!" The woman Zi Yan says before walking away. She just wants to talk to him yet she is ignored.
"I like a cold man the best. But I like it more when their personality would change and would scramble and kneel into my feet just to serve me." She mutters before issuing a little laugh. She is born a genius, her family is too willing to please and spoils her making her have a rotten personality. And everything she fancies, she gets it.
Cheng Li arrives at the pavilion, going straight to the building in the center of the lake. Thinking about what the Grandmaster tells him, he decided to have a look.
In the center of the lake lies a cave which the leylin core is situated. The dense spiritual qi makes Cheng Li comfortable. This place is the perfect place for him to cultivate. Cheng Li knows that it would take him years or centuries to return to his previous cultivation but the leylin core would help him.
He puts an array to his surroundings to avoid people knowing his cultivation, he unseal it before sitting down. He would stay here for as long as Ling Xi is still unconscious before talking to him about Grandmaster Ran.
Cheng Li stays submerged in the lake for a month. All the disciples in alchemy division and the warrior division are asking his whereabouts which Grandmaster Xi would just says he is in a special mission.
Grandmaster Xi smiles, she doesn't misjudged when she accepts him as her succeeding disciples. She knows that seventy percent when the demon attacks the sect would collapse and she could not leave the sect so she wants someone who would do, someone who have reason to live, to flee and she found a perfect one, A young man who has someone to care for and she knows that he would do everything in his power to stay alive to protect his mate. He would surely guarantee the safety of the leylin core where she knows is the target of the demons.
Her only wish is to know who the traitor is, if possible to kill them. She grows up in this sect, she knows nothing about the outside world so it is better for her to just die protecting the Xianhai sect than to flee. So she need to raise Cheng Li cultivation.
Looking at the entire Xianhai sect, she would feel sadness, melancholy but a little bit of gladness, she is a bit tired on managing the sect. She wants to perish with it to atone for her sins, sins she had done on maintaining the name of the so called Righteous sect. She really hope that by her death, thousands or million souls would now be on peace and go to the reincarnation for obtaining their much awaiting justice.
She is not proud to what she did but she would do it again if the time would go back.
