Chapter 2 - Big Brother

Dawn slowly opened her eyes only to see a handsome man in ancient black robes coming towards her with a doting smile on his face along with her mother who looked slightly haggard and her elder sister who had a worried and concerned look which confused as to what was actually happening and who that handsome man was.

" Dawn ", said Vinny with a warm smile, " Nice to meet you ", saying that, Vinny bent forward a little, took her soft and small right hand into his and gently kissed on the upper side of her hand with out breaking eye contact to which, Dawn's face turned completely red.

" h-hello!! ", Dawn stammered and said in a soft voice and Vinny smiled even more brightly.

He held her lovely wrist and send his energy to probe her internal structure.

' Just as I thought, it really is the Crow's poison, it corroded her entire nervous system without anyone knowing how. It's a good thing that I brought the Divine Grace liquid when I heard my Dawn's life might be in danger. ', thinking that, Vinny took out a vial of crystal clear liquid which is emitting a light blue halo.

" Dawn, drink this and you'll get better in no time ", said Vinny with the same doting smile.

" w-who are you ? ", asked Dawn slightly confused.

" Well, it's too late for introductions but I'll still do it for you anyway. I'm Vinny, Vinny Gray, your big brother. ", said Vinny with a smile that looked the most sadder and painful than she ever saw.

" h-huh? w-what? B-Big brother? Mom, what's going on? ", Dawn looked at her mother who was softly crying while looking Vinny's back. Meanwhile Luna got shocked hearing what Vinny said. It's not everyday that you meet someone who will suddenly announce that he's your big brother and your mother does not refute it.

" I'll tell you two everything you want to know later ", said Evelyn in a quiet voice.

Dawn gathered her courage and opened her mouth slightly and Vinny poured the entire vial's contents down her throat.

' well, there goes all my life's savings ", Vinny softly sighed in his mind but his expression changed completely when the Divine Grace didn't work. Vinny hurriedly held the suffering Dawn's wrist to see what was going on. To his horror, the power of the Divine Grace was actually being suppressed by the Crow's poison.

' Is this the Heaven Born Golden Crow's poison and not a normal one. How did she got into contact with this. '

Without wasting any time, Vinny put his right hand on Dawn's lovely and soft waist and supplied his life force to give support to the Divine Grace. His life force was being sapped out of him while Dawn was getting better and better. He only stopped when almost 60% of his life fore was drained. Blood slowly trickled out from the corner of his mouth which no one saw, except Luna, who got horrified, not knowing what happened.

' Five more sessions and she'll be back to her normal state. But... ', Vinny let out a soft and weak chuckle, ' but it looks like I'll only have these five days left to live if I give away my remaining life force to her. Wonder what she'll do if she knows that I'm giving away my life for her daughter. Will she be happy knowing that her daughter who she raised all these years will be alright or will she even be worried about me. Or may be she'll abandon me all over again like before. ' , thinking that, Vinny looked at Evelyn worry and pain visible in his eyes which, sadly, she didn't see and he regained his emotions and focused on Dawn again.

" Dawn ", Vinny softly called. He touched her hand and her eyes widened, " you can feel my touch, right ? ", asked Vinny with a hopeful tone.

" y-y-yes, yes, yes I can ", she was already crying due to happiness and relief. What she doesn't knew was that her happiness came at the cost of another's life.

Vinny got even more happy seeing her sweet smile.

' Everything I did worth it just to see her smile like this. Even though she might never know what I did for her, I'm still happy to save her even though I can not spend long with her ' ( Vinny )

" Five more sessions and you'll be back to jumping and running in no time ", said Vinny with a smile.

" Yes, sir ", said Dawn.

" ' Big brother ' ", corrected Vinny.

" yes, big brother Vinny ", said Dawn with a sweet smile and Vinny's smile got even brighter.
